The whole natto doll thing was just WHOOSH over my head...
One thing in this show I always like is the incidental music, which always reminds me of something I can't quite put a name to. Although I could put a name to the pastiche of Brubeck...! |

Skamoko-san, the talking older cat Spoiler:
If ever I wanna be a troll, Mai-chan shall be my mentor. Also I shall call The Professor Hakase-chan! It seems such a cool "name".

Speaking of Mia's trolling,
Spoiler for ep3:
There is still two sections of the manga I'd love to see here, one of which I'm sure will come soon but another I'm not sure how well it will transition to anime... |

I'm getting my Crunchyroll Premium Membership this afternoon (I totally forgot you had to give them PayPal information in advance XD) so I'm a little behind in the episode airings but I did just finish episode two. And what can I say, it was awesome.
I'm so happy they animated my favorite chapter from the manga! I hope they do the House of Cards one next and my faith in KyoAni will be restored. That said, they really upped the amp for this series: not one but two chase scenes (one more trippy than the other) in one episode? The artwork may be simple but you can't call them out for animating it badly. Sasahara is so ridiculous. I love 'im The guy gets shot by about fifty different weapons and leaves to go to the restroom like it's no problem? Awesome. However, I find the professor's (who I disliked even in the manga) and Nano's scenes in the anime to be really boring. I don't know if it's because their voices are so high or if they don't interact as well Mio and her friends do. Of course, after watching this I have the strangest urge to eat roll cake.

I think that many gags in this episode were too Japanese for a western audience. Especially the Helvetica standard bit with the tengu and the natto straw doll (which reminded me of Natto-kozo from Nurarihyon no Mago) gag were just unfunny. Weakest episode so far.

Perhaps, but it did give us a good character introduction (even though we've actually seem him before) for Sakamoto-san, and gave us a really good looks at Mia's trolldom of Yuuko.
