The edge are definitely plasma/beam
At least that's how WK depicted in Choco's artwork, the sword body itself are tiny, roughly the size of a machette. Okiura doesn't have official design of it, and thus we have only anime as reference, where the sword is giant slab of something, probably metal or ceramic composite.

Neuron is research computer that borrow I.S. power and translate it into computer language, nothing more or less.
It's clearer in the discussion thread, but to make it easy, look at this monkeyfied example Quesion: What if we made X to cause Y, possible? I.S. core: Maybe, something like 77.865 out of 100.000 case, you know Neuron: 78% success rate is guaranteed

The problem is, like all living being, a Core has flaw. Core are not unified. What if two Cores gives two different opinion?
Also, thinking about linking all Core with Veda=NEURON. By the way, would we see Solid Snake? |

Exactly, being a living computer I.S. are capable of doubt and guessing. NEURON pretty much eliminate that, like a filter or something along that line.
I.S. core without Neuron is superior in tactic and strategy, but for the purpose of research NEURON equipped core is much better. Solid snake huh...

Depends
If it's a close range combat (under 200 m, rugged terrain), White Knight slip in and call it a day At long range, it depends on which calc used for Rex railgun. White Knight can pretty much aim dodge, but one shot is all you need.

Just a little thing that pops into my mind. Would it be too far-fetched to have an internal conflict between the security troopers and the Personal IS pilots in ISA? Seems all major problems faced by the school so far always has the Personal units as frontline defence while security seems non-existent (even when the ISA is shown to have them in the anime)

More from the personal pilots themselves than the teacher side, spotlight and all. I think the staff will just follow their whims until they cross the line, and then the staff WILL swiftly bring them down so hard they'll feel it for days.
Shonen rule aside, the staffs would be far and beyond them in terms of skill, just in case physical confrontation happen (I can't find anyone batshit enough to do that, not even the canon cast) This of course means the plot operate with canon ruleset: full speed idiot ball (I have something like that, but mostly between student body themselves) EDIT: Mine is essentially a world war III miniature

As in due to certain level of favoritism, with Personals' favored over the security team for defense, the latter feels under-appreciated.
Not that they're going to start a revolution or anything. Just a case of being implied as the lesser of the lot. And yes, one of the OC Aegis security troopers in Athena has a history of simultaneously taking down three Personal users single-handedly. Still trying to make up an excuse reason for it (though it all ends up with the OC having the high morale ground)

I can't objectively say anything worth a damn, it'll probably helps if those personal I.S. owner use a very flawed early prototype or something like that, so luck helped her somewhat.
Because mine boils down to Icchan being stupidly overprotective, Kanzashi grew cancerous backbone, and Tatenashi... being herself. So yeah, canon power go!

Uhh... No. Personals as in full-on Personals. No flawed luck/machine thingy because I find that a wee bit cheap in some sense. Sure, both the OC and the unlucky Personals are using Gen 2 IS during then but when you take into account that the Personals are using... well, Personal Gen 2 units and the OC is using a stock Raphael Basic... yeah.
It's indirectly implying that the "Student Council President" is the title given to the strongest amongst students whereby staffs, on the other hand, are a whole other level as you mentioned. Notably, each of the OC Aegis team members are capable of decking Representatives. It's in their doctrine and to that extent, members are hand-picked by the staff board after going through an extensive list of criteria. Imagine them as being the highest order of Guards, only more friendly, which would also explain why there's only six of them. Linear Chart-wise: Students < Personals (Reps) < Council President < Aegis Team < Instructors (E.g. Chifuyu)
