Social Groups: Governor's Ability To Re-Name Discussions

Hello and welcome to the Social Groups: Governor's Ability To Re-Name Threads discussion thread.

Keeping things short and simple, the suggestion focuses on the Social Groups.

Currently, the Governor of a group has the following Moderating abilities he/she can use:
  • Delete Discussions
  • Approve discussions
  • Unapprove Discussions
How about adding a new ability to Re-Name Discussions?
As there is already an ability to Delete a Discussion, I do not think there would be an issue of handling that extra "power".

This idea was already pointed out before, but what are your thoughts about it?

That is exactly why I have said that the idea was pointed out before - the case you have mentioned.
However, that thread focused of Forum Threads, this one does on Social Group Discussions, where there should be less draw-backs if this comes in action.

Discussion thread titles on social groups appear to be governed only by the title of the first post in the thread, and the only way to edit the title is to edit the first post. So I think that, in Social Groups, the thread creator is likely able to edit the thread title. There is not a separate function to edit the thread title that I see as an admin, so I don't think there's any way to grant this permission to social group admins.

I see, I seem to have missed that.
Indeed, once you try to edit the first post, you will have the possibility to edit the Subject as well.
In that case, I think we can sum up that in the end, changing the Subjects/Titles/Names is avaliable, the option to do so is just a bit more hidden/accessible on a different way.

Thank-you, that would more or less be the end of the thread's main point, unless someone would like to add something.

Yeah, it does!!! Thanks.. Now I feel more power lols!!!

It's hard to managed threads that already went 4-5 pages out of order which changing the title is the last option.

It would be nice to have a list of all the things you can do as:
  • A Member (If you are one - you most likely one, but the main issue is how long would the list be )
  • A Moderator (If you are one)
  • An Administrator (If you are one)
  • A Governor of a Social Group (If you are one)
  • A Thread/Discussion Creator (If you are one)
  • I missed something? Well, you see the point.
Thoughts?
