Well, did a Chinese New Year lunch party. Helped my mom make roast potato wedges for the heck of it. What we did was sprinkle herbs on the potatoes, then stick them on a tray under a grilling tray, where my mom was making chinese-style roast pork. Thus the oils and fat from the pork drips onto the potatoes, which are thus nicely cooked in the oven.
As Jaime Olive would say, "De-lish." Also helped my dad build his barbeque pit (more or less). Sooner or later we're doing a barbeque, and when that happens I'll make babequed chips, as per Jaime Oliver's style.

I made this several days ago.
You start by taking 2.5 lbs. of steak tips (I had about 2.75 lbs. of it) and cut it into bite size pieces. Then you take a baking pan and put in two cans of campbell's condensed cream of mushroom soup, plus use one of the cans and throw in a can and a 1/4 of a can of water. Then you add more liquid by adding in some soy sauce and adding in some red wine (real wine, not cooking wine). Then you throw in some sliced, fresh button mushroom. Then throw in some dashes of black pepper and salt, and then mix it together. Next, put the cut up beef in the baking dish and then mix it all up with the mixture. Bake it for 1 hour at 400 degrees F. Cook some egg noodles. Get a pot of water boiling and add salt to the water and then cook the pasta to your liken. Drain and return it to the pot, and then take all the contents of the baking pan and add it to the pasta in the pot and mix well and then serve.

I usually am called upon to help my mum with this for potlucks and picnics and various parties.
WG's Potato Salad (Serves 15-20ish) Needs: -2kg of potatoes. (Any type will do; this recipe uses cheap China potatoes, since I'm on a budget.) -1 medium jar of mayonnaise. -2-3 large onions -4-5 eggs -some salt -some pepper Making it: 1. First, start off by boiling the potatoes and the eggs (seperately, of course). Potatoes should be boiled in their skins. 2. Once the potatoes are boiled, let them drain for a while, so that they're not too moist. 3. Boil the eggs until 3/4ths boiled or full boiled, whichever suits your fancy. Either way works. 4. Chop the onions, finely. I usually use two, but you may use three if you like. Red onions tend to have a certain sweetness, which is what I prefer. Alternatively, add in shallots if you like. 5. Once the onions are chopped, crack the eggs and pour them into a mixing bowl. Begin mashing the eggs over and over and over. Mash them to your heart's content - it's okay if they're a little chunky, they'll get mashed soon enough. 6. Pour in the mayo, and mix with the eggs. 7. Pour in the chopped onions. 8. Mix well. Add salt and pepper to taste. 9. Now that the potatoes have drained for a while, peel them, then dice them up. Size of pieces depends, but smaller is preferred since it's easier to stir. 10. Pour all your potatoes into a serving bowl or a large enough tuperware container. 11. Next, pour in the dressing you made just now. Stir well. 12. For garnish, use chopped up spring onions, or bacon bits. Keep in the fridge and take it out when ready to serve.

I especially love czech cuisine. It may sound strange but the greatest thing to drink when you're sick is garlic soup. It's amazing. Very similar to french onion soup just minus the onions. Lots of garlic, a tasty broth, cheese at the bottom and croutons on top. Really it's tastier than you might think and does wonders for a cold (or hangover).

I want this garlic soup. Sounds good.
French onion soup is good. I remember one meal at a restaurant that I had that was very good was this one time I ordered some French onion soup and then had a tender, juicy, thick cut of prime rib. Cooked medium, I think. And part of what made the meal so good is that those two things go together so perfectly.

made some Udon. mom bought quite a lot of instant Udon from costco...i guess they
were on sales. for lunch, i just dump all the ingredients in the bags and the soy sauce bag in the bow. cut some pork rolls and added some brocollis in the mix. maybe i can add an egg as well next time with some cut leaks, bean sprouts and onions. P.S.: "i suck @ cooking. instant is the way to go!" EDIT: so i made it during lunch. next time, i won't heat the pork rolls with the udon. the udon's sauce blended in with the pork rolls flavor and the result was....a taste out of this world. i manage to finish eating it, but it was definitely tasted a bit weird...at least the brocollis tasted like normal. and then, i have banana and alvacado for dessert. what a funky day! :P

I made this for tonight's dinner. Oven roasted chicken wings with some white rice with some tamari soy sauce on it.
The chicken wings were coated in regular olive oil that was blended with Old Bay seasoning. There wasn't much seasoning on them when I put them in the baking dish, so I sprinkled some more on them and popped them in the oven. Baked them at 375 degrees farenheit for 1 hour. They were really good. Made this about 2 or 3 weeks ago. It was really good. Salad with steak tips and some fresh, soft pita bread. The salad was made with leaf lettuce and the steak tips were cut up and put on skewers and simply seasoned with coarse salt and nothing more and then grilled, then added to the salad with some fresh tomato. The salad dressing was made with fresh lemon juice from a lemon, olive oil, coarse salt, and freshly ground black pepper. It was combined and tossed with the lettuce and then the steak and tomato was added on top of it.

Had this today for dinner.
It is stir fry vegetables (cooked in a wok) with grilled shrimp, on a bed of white rice. So there is some plain white rice, the vegetables are from two packages ('stir fry' vegetable mix, fresh vegetables), which were cooked in a wok with some extra light olive oil (it is 'extra light' in olive oil flavor, good for things like frying food in a pan or wok). Probably about 2-3 tablespoons of this olive oil mixed with the vegetables while cooking, plus some coarse salt and some black pepper. That is it. As for the shrimp, it was raw, peeled and de-veined shrimp, which was put on skewers, seasoned with Old Bay seasoning, and grilled. It was a good meal and as you can see there is an abundance of shrimp (I had 17 pieces when I counted). And it went good with a nice light beer.

Not very Japanese, not at all actually, but my famous Vitne taco soup is delicious and easy to make.
(ok, its not famous, but its good!) ~1 lb ground beef 1 onion 1 green bell pepper 1 red bell pepper 1 can chopped tomatos...tomatoes? Yup, seems to be tomatoes 1 small can of corn 1 can of black beans 1 packet of taco seasoning Just cook the beef, then add everything else and let it cook for 30 mins or so, and you are good! Add sour cream, tortilla chips on top, maybe some cheese, and you are good to go. Namm Namm

Not entirely related but got too many breads and ham/salami left since last outing, and i have been eating sandwich with ham/salami (+fruit ) for lunch and dinner in a past few days....
Is it just me, or it feels strangely unsatisfied eating like that? Like you don't feel hungry, but you always feel like you haven't eaten yet....
