Ep 22.....*Sad Face*

Tama ....lost.....WTF KIND OF ENDING WAS THAT....cliff hanger....lose, end fo episode. Miya miya lost too.....

What was irritating about this episode, was like at the beginning Yuji was giving Tama a weird stare and then later sensei 2. Like they knew she was going to loose or something, but that staring look was condescending and irritating I thought.

She lost to Rin, she we all knew that was coming. I know losing can help a person learn their own weakness, but they completely made it out like she hasn't lost a match so she's going to lose this one. Like a rather random loss. Kinda like they were trying to imply, since you haven't lost, you're definitely going to loose this one not matter what you do or no matter how good you are. Like a destined lost thing.

Oh well 4 more episodes to go. Let see how Tama evolves from this. I'm sure by the end of the series Tama and Miya will have their rematches, it can't end without one more big battle.

the bad thing about this anime is that most of the characters are actually good, it is just that they loose because of their own bad fortune, or like the post above, it is like some destiny that tamaki need to loose this time

Wah... Tamaki really lost... and quite badly too...
Though with all of the foretelling from previous episodes, it was kind of obvious she would lose.

Miyako wasn't doing very well either...

Not sure what Toyama's role in the future will be, since they focused a little bit on him in this episode.

Preview: Lies and Silence; ...The "recovery" episode after a loss... Not really looking forward to it.

Oh I'm sure most of us knew it was going to happen. Just the way it happened, the lay out, the development was bothersome. It was too preordained. It's like it happened because of the hero you chose to favor....

er...no.

you might find all cheat mode fun for a while, but it get dulls and you end up simply walking about with not a care in the world.

It might be good if your in a rush to finish a game you just want to see to the end, but seriously all_weapon cheat is the one you need.

Nothing like the little bit of fear knowing you can still die, yet have a fire power to kill anything in your sight, fast.

mind you, dunno how you can apply that to a sports anime, i mean unless its like HAJIME NO IPPO, dear haruhi.

now that was a GAR-SPORTS anime, your like in round 7 and ippo's all bruised he can hardly stand, then just at the last moment though SHEER GAR, fights back and hits his enemy weak point, the nthe Music plays and he blurrs as instinct kicks in and he pounds his opponent into the floor, before the ref lifts his arm in thr air as the bell rings and he pass out holding the victory POSE. GAAARRRRR!!!

er.....don't think it happen with moe tamaki and the finest of kendo matches.

well it somewhat was preordained seeing as Rin was quite clearly meant to be Tama's only rival in the series, and another girl Tama can plow over doesn't make for a particularly good rival.

frankly i dont know how the way it turned out could've been a surprise as it was pretty much set up 2 episodes ago.

you knew Rin was going to be good
you knew last ep already Tama was probably going to lose

the only real surprise up their sleeve was how good Rin really was, which they pulled a fairly nice trick with Rin's kamae being jodan which was already established long ago as basically being the the kryptonite to Tama otherwise superman-ness.

i suspect the foreshadowing had less to do with them knowing Tama would lose. it was meant more to accent, and make somewhat ominous, how much the team had come to depend on Tama and expect her to clean up the matches they're in. they expected her victory to be a foregone conclusion, which in turn foreshadows the eventual fall since such a dependence that would come back to bite anyone whether its sports, academics, politics...

given what they were working with, it was developed about as well as it could have been given yes, you knew at some point, there was going to be someone to rival Tama in kendo as a challenge to the main characters has to pop up eventually. that alone is simply a basic principle of storytelling.

They better write the loss well, but from what ThoHell says it looks like they made Tama lose just to push the story their way.

So Rin has bigger boobs then Tama, Rin ponied Tama in a BB contest and now Rin ponies Tama who was brought up in a dojo (who can't beat grown men) in kendo.

Looks like the main guy isn't The Don after all but Rin. Kinda suits the late arrival being the black ranger and all.

Do they explain why Rin is so good? Or is she bestowed with writer's haxor shinai 2.0? Let me guess her love for Shinaida is much greater then Tama's upbringing. As it does seem that all Blade fans must be dan grade or above and the fandom is rated by kendo skills...

They already have one girl who needs to over come a kendo fight. She is fighting for something far more important then a perceived must have life lesson. That person is the real Shinaida and her name is Miya and she is fighting for her honour and for the love of her life.

Tama is as I feared going to be written as a stupid person who can't transfer her experiences from one subject to another .

By the way when I asked earlier why do sensei 1 and 2 want Tama to lose and no one answered with specific show driven reasons. Sensei 2 is really easy:

He lost in the final. He got hung up on losing. He only snapped out of it 5+ years later after fighting Tama. He expects Tama to react in the same way he did.

Rin won because she's lost in the past before and she favor a characters who knows about defeat, while Tama SUPPOSEDLY HAS NEVER LOST a match before and favors a character that always wins. I'm sure she can transfer her experiences, she showed great sportsmen ship at the end and didn't go all emo/snap when she lost. Well like I said, the losing part we all knew was bound to happen as like it would in real life. It was just the way they set it all up with Yuji and sensei 2 going from always awing Tama to an entire episode of them giving her a weird stare as if they KNEW she was going to loose even before she got to the tournament or knew her opponent. Like a character 180.
Tama got defeated so easily, even though she's already at an insane skill level, because he opponent knew the feeling of defeat and wanted to show Tama why Braver will never win. Pretty much winning or knowing you'll win before you even know your opponents skill or it isn't even a factor. Rin knew before the fight she would win, sensei 2 and Yuji knew she was going to loose that very match against Rin. Ok I think I'm rambling on too much, what I meant was she lost due to some master plot that over ride all skill/experiences.

well the funniest part in these episode is that rin and tama met before the match and talk about braver - shinaida anime stuffs and they tried to make it to the real world. lolz. it is like.....

A:"hey, mikuru is the best, I will gonna teach you that"
B:"nah nagato yuki is the best, I will show you"

I don't really see how a great kendo wielder can transfer her experience and skill into karaoke.

if that was true, i wonder if i can transfer my experience surfing the internet for hard to find downloads into playing a real guitar, instead of jumping about thumbing a toggle and wanking the neck on a plastic ukulele to little electric dots on TV?

Though it was expected that Tama will lose, I didn't anticipate her to lose so badly to Rin. But yet upon closer look at the scene, we'll see a lot of disturbance in the thought process that Tama has during the scene

1. That killer stance that Run used. It startled Tama so much that she lost concentration and let Rin won quite easily.
2. That must-win attitude. Tama was very pressured by the team since they relied too much on her that she became distracted. If you see how her eyes move at the scoreboard, you know that she was desperate to win, so much that she became less focused on the match at hand, and tried to have an "easy" score with a thrust, since it always worked in the past.
3. Rin's skill. Gotta hand it to Rin on this one. The way she moves and her calm facial expression clearly shows how experienced she is. She probably has gained months or years of experience beyond what Tama has had being in this team.

Though it's unfortunate, it's got to be quite revealing to everyone in the team. They'll learn to rely more on themselves. And Tama will become more mature as she heals her wounds.

Gotta wonder if sensei will get fired though. They lost twice in a row already...

I'm on about transfer of experiences. For example I slap you across the face you know it will hurt your face. I don't then need to slap your arse for you to realise that it will also hurt your arse if I did that.

For example they kinda covered it in the shop scene. Tama in there bricking it. She thinks to herself if she had her armour and Shinai she would not feel that way.

All these things we do add up. From a positive PoV a person who does lots of pub room karaoke should feel a lot more confident when standing in front of their peers at work in a meeting. Thats what I mean about transfer of experiences.

Tama experienced loss 2 times, so far being bully girl's match and the BB karaoke competition, but the writers have deemed her unable to learn from these other life experiences and she must get beaten by a girl who preaches that losing makes you stronger.

You know if you take this to the pre-kendo days; me thinks that the lesson is losing leaves you missing a limb at the best, and losing your life at the worst.

Can't say that I wasn't expecting this, but the way there did it was just so dramatic for our poor little tama chan ;___;

Now that she has taste the sting of a bitter defeat for the first time, she can only grow stronger. As what they say, what doesn't kill you can only make you stronger. This is a good lesson but a rather hard one to swallow and looking at the preview it isn't pretty.

For someone who has not lost in their entire life I guess tama will now have a dilemma of what to do next. Will she carry on or will she quit kendo? This is the most important obstacle for her to overcome. I how she won't moan in self pity for too long.

She has to just get on her feet and face Rin again but win this time.

Talking about rin...the hell she is using that skill. That was the first off putter for tama during the match. But she is definitely skilled, and a worthy opponent. She saw right through tama's tsuki but she did make it obvious herself.

Ahh...now ishida has to slap himself for putting so much pressure on tama...she is only human

On the other side of things miyako is still losing lots. Poor girl

Now I wonder what role those former punks at the dojo will play...they are mad! O.o
