Considering the type of anime you've been watching i think Outlaw Star would be a good one for you to watch =D Along with Kenshin & (as mentioned) Hellsing.
Also you might like the 3 part anime Karas, lots of action crammed into 90mins =) But also a decent storyline. |

These should all fit under the "Good Story + Good Action" category.
Full Metal Panic! - I second this one and remember that all 3 seasons are great! Elfen Lied - Second this one also. Good but prepare for gore, although if you get past the first 10 minutes of episode 1 and feel fine the it should be no problem. Full Metal Alchemist - Great story lots of action, though a bit dark at times. Visions of Escaflowne - Mecha action in a high fantasy setting. What more could you ask for? One of the best out there. For action thats a little different watch Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha seasons 1 and 2. Little girls with massive beam attacks! |

Demon Hunter

I'll second/third (for good action and/or story):
Full Metal Panic! Full Metal Alchemist Elfen Lied Hellsing Onegai Teacher School Rumble I also recommend Chobits (my favourite after Full Metal Panic!) if you are looking for a good story and Samurai Champloo if you are looking for good action. |

Action action action....
Fate/Stay Night: yup definitely. Shakugan No Shana: nice storyline. cool characters. Black Cat: lots of action. Coyote Ragtime Show: guns and explosions. don't let the title decieve you. it's very good. Blood+: since you love Naruto and Bleach (which are long animes), I suggest watching this too. Utawarerumono: good story and some occassional funny moments. Other animes I recommend would be.... Strawberry Panic: yuri anime with good story. Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni: horror/suspense

No one mentioned Rahxephon? I've heard it hailed as the real EVA but all hype aside, it's a good mecha series. Also Mai-Hime for good action/characters (although I personally wouldn't touch Mai-Otome <again...>)
Otherewise, check out: Saikano Fruits Basket Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Air |

Monster Fate/Stay Night (lots of action / interesting story) Now and Then, Here and There Saikano Samurai Champloo (lots of action. poor story, but it's a great anime) Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (No action. Amazing) I would recommend you to watch Full Metal Alchemist... Best anime ever. But all those animes I mentioned are really great |

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
It's too bad that that I haven't any anime fans mention it on any of the forums I visit. It's a really great OAV series from 1993. It went on to influence the creator of YU-GI-OH!. Don't let the year scare you off. Although I haven't seen it in awhile, I remembered the animation was pretty good. The bad part is the OAV assumes you know some background information. If you search wikipedia it should give you enough info. However beware of spoilers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JoJo's_Bizarre_Adventure The show's fighting and premise is some of the most original I have ever seen. I happen to belong to Netflix and so far 3 volumes (episode 1-7) are available. If you search hard enough, you might be able to find fansubs of episodes 8-12. Mahou Shojou Lyrical Nanoha and Mahou Shojou Lyrical Nanoha A's. Check the reviews on AnimeNfo, that's where I was convinced to download the series. I never regretted the decision. It's probably the best magical girl series ever. The first three episodes of the first series are slow paced, but be patient because you will be rewarded with: great drama, some funny moments, music that builds excitement, an engaging story of human emotions, and fight sequences that put the longwinded Dragonball series to shame. Not mentioned yet but worth viewing: R.O.D. OAV and TV-Slow at parts but it has an original premise and great action. GetBackers-A super-powered action buddy show. Otogi Zoshi-Good first half. Haven't seen the second yet. Still waiting for the rental disks. Ninja Scroll Movie (Never saw the TV show)-Very violent and has explicit sexual content. Saiunkoku Monogatari-A good drama and comedy that takes place in ancient China. Reminisient of Fushigi Yugi and 12 Kingdoms. Nishi no Yoki Majo-A fantasy drama. Ranma 1/2-Comedty and martial arts. It's an old school and very long series. If you have the time check it out. 3X3 Eyes-Might be hard to find but its a classic. I would like add a vote for the following that have been mentioned already: Ruruoni Kenshin Utawarerumono Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu Midori no Hibi Shakugan No Shana 12 Kingdoms I haven't finished these shows but you may want to check out the following: Gankusuou (aka Count of Monte Christo) D.N.Angel Scrapped Princess Ghost in the Shell TV Black Lagoon Mahou Shoujo Tai Iris (aka Tweeny Witches) Basilisk Hellsing |

Fate/Stay Night
Gungrave Hunter X Hunter Juuni Kokuki If you like Bleach and Naruto, well Hunter X Hunter is superior. Not only does it have little of this filler crap, it actually is fun to watch. Gungrave, probably the best story in an anime I've watched. Mafia, guns, brotherhood. Its there and its powerful. Fate/Stay Night is decent, not the best story in the world, but it is amusing for a short while. Juuni Kokuki is awsome. It is like Lord of the Rings meets King Arthur. It will carry you away to a new world where you will love the characters and wont want to leave. |

Thanks for all the replies! Here are the ones that I'm gonna try.
Hunter x Hunter (Since pretty much all of you mentioned it) Midori no Hibi (Looks..funny but I'll give it a shot) Berserk (Lots of action eh?) Fate/Stay Night (I've heard of this before and it seems really popular =D) Air Gear (I watched an episode and it seems fairly good, plus I read some of the manga) Hellsing (Even though I'm usually not into vampires) Gungrave (Is this the one with a guy named Brandon?) They all look good, but I googled most of what was recommended to get an idea of the protaganist, don't get me wrong I'm not judging them, I just like male protaginists. Thanks again for all the replies! =D |

Okay, after watching most of the animes I said I would (I watched them non-stop), I'd like more suggestions, this time a bit different. =D
I don't mind female protaginists anymore, after watching Elfen Lied. Well, I would like a deep story, with romance of course. =) A little action, (Or alot) would be nice, but it doesn't matter that much. I really don't like the comedies though a little would be nice. (For comic relief) Also, nothing with over 100+ episodes, and less then 10. I love One Piece but...meh. Thanks again for any suggestions! *Sorry for double posting Last edited by Zeifear; 2006-08-24 at 05:32. |
