Actually that's an understatement. It's more like her character was sliced up, burned, then shot with an ak-47, nuked, eaten, regurgitated, in that order possibly. She turned into a modern tsundere. That is truly worse than hell itself.

Sb write to me to not comment sth i not watch... But for some people like me Evangelion was main reason why we was dragged into manga/anime world... For me its even more important then Dragon Ball effect when i was young...
And about characters... You can find hundred of Rei clones in manga/anime world... Better or worser... But there is only one Asuka Langley Soryu and always will be... Even if i must read spoilers i cant allow myself to watch sth which can destroy it for me...

well i know we''re talking about NGE here but i really hope theres a shinjixasuka ending coming up not a (kill everyone in the most gruesome way while the main character sits under some stairs being emo) ending.
God i hated that movie....and misato wtf if anything could make shinji anymore crazy it was her kissing him, why the hell did she even kiss him for anyway??

I just want to chime into the discussion and say that NGE series Asuka was the most hate inducing, narcissistic, horrible piece of shit character that I've ever seen in anime. But that's okay, she was designed to be so.
Also anyone who thinks ShinjixRei has anything to do with an oedipus complex needs to get a clue. Rei is a character and personality of her own before she's a clone of Shinji's mom; something Rebuild 2 displayed nicely. So yeah. I'm enjoying the Rebuild movies far more than the series itself. Thankfully I only watched the series back in 2009 and don't have fourteen years of horrendously blackened nostalgia goggles to hype it on. Though I thought End was an absolute masterpiece until the final scene.

I hope we won't go that way, especially since Asuka wasn't as extreme (IMO she was too extreme at times) here as she originally was. However, I'd love to see what's next for Asuka as we are truly going into the unknown with her character. |

To step aside from the pairing arguments and general vitriol... I do wonder how long it will be before anything concrete is said about 3.0/Q? They have taken quite awhile with it. I saw the title "You Will (Not) Understand" passed around, but I wonder if that is official.

I like the microphone on the older Test Plugsuit design. oh, and Rebuild 2.0 is a horrendous movie, etc. |

In any case, I look at it this way: 1) If you like nuances or some plain non-action sequences, look for the original series. 2) If you like hard action or a more physical style, go for the new movies. Personally, I enjoyed both, and hope for the best.

Well of course. A movie filled with the modern tsundere, the quiet girl archetype, and the typical shonen protagonist may be entertaining to some.
However, the plot of this movie leaves much to be desired on the logical consistency side of things. I mean why in the name of hell do they put away an evangelion that is needed for protection in a time of crisis, and not only do they put away one, but instead of putting away the broken down one they can't even fix, they decide to put away the fully functional unit 2.0. Oh this movie must've been fantastic right? Some of Anno's best work yet. Perhaps a few more baka shinji derisions by the little frail, weak girl that this Asuka impostor was and I could've considered this an absolute master piece. Oh no, maybe had Rei accidentally lopped off her hand while cooking. Then there would've been something to really watch here. While we're at it, why is Kaiji even in this movie? I don't understand the purpose of his character. Should cut out his time and give more development to Mari Sue. She was a lovely addition to the cast and all, you know... Parachuting into a militarized territory without being detected and stealing military equipment form a facility like it's no problem. Great. Hedge hog's dilemma? I don't know why we even mentioned it. Clearly our main protagonist had so much trouble expressing his feelings that he was about to throw away the entire world and embrace Rei. Cool beans. Yep quality movie right?...

I guess I don't understand Animesuki. Time was, if you DIDN'T like the show or movie in whose thread you were posting, you were labelled a troll.
Here, it seems like if you actually LIKED the show in question, and have nothing bad to say about the director, people call you a troll. I don't get it.

Perhaps it has to do with the strength of one's argument and the manner they present it. Or the tact in which it was presented with, and the ability to handle someone else's opinion and maybe accept it even if one disagrees with it. Nah, that would make too much sense.
