And that's interesting about someone else other than Tokyopop getting a license to Shakugan no Shana novels. At least, that's what I hope she meant by 'SnS'. And the merging of 12 Kingdoms makes sense, as there were a lot of 2-parters, etc.

Shakugan no Shana (or Red Eye'd Shana) is seeing double. Viz will be releasing both the manga and the light novel of this hot MediaWorks title (man my crystal ball is good). Definitely a cute fun action title that fit in perfectly with the now defunct Action imprint. Viz revealed that the anime has been picked up by someone else. No news yet if they have picked up Shakugan no Shana 0 and Shakugan no Shana S (two additional novels from the same property).

Shoot. And I was just planning on picking up the Shakugan no Shana novels for translation last week. I even made a sample translation of the prologue of volume 1. I never thought it would be licensed so soon, but it's not unexpected.

Has anyone got any of Viz's more recent works though? How well were they done? I remember them licensing the Slayers novels a while ago and doing a not-too-stellar job with those, removing whole scenes and the like, and I'd hate Shana to get the same treatment

I've yet to read Viz's work on light novels. But I do plan on getting the manga and novels from them. As soon as I get my hands on them I'll post my thoughts ;o

On a Shana related note, is Geneon releasing a box to go with Shana?
Rightstuf doesn't list Volume 1 as coming with a box, and I just wanted to make sure. I plan on picking up Shana as my first anime DVD purchase >.< (My brother always seems to buy the stuff I want to watch. So far.)

Apparently not - their official site doesn't list it, anyway. You can get either just the first DVD, or a set including the soundtrack for $10 more. Suits me because I'd rather have the OST
