Ok. I don't care if people keep calling Sorata a beta. Even if he's a beta, he's a hella respectable beta. A lot of people on other blogs were putting him down heavily especially with his ending line last episode but event though that's how he feels, he really does keep his feelings as a separate thing.
Anyways, Rita is awesome as well. And... did you guys find how it was surprisingly cute that Nanami was pretty much crying too at the end when Mashiiro and Rita reconcile? Awesome! And... perhaps Rita might possibly one day be Ryuunosuke's cure to his fear of women? Lol.

Damn, I felt that all the discussions of the last episode were all for naught. They chose to take the easy way out in this episode, not that I'm totally unhappy with.
But just as I expected, all we need was just input from Mashiro to reach Rita. Rita has tried for ten years taking care while trying to rival Mashiro. All the hard word, caring, love, frustration and even hatred have made Mashiro became a big part of Rita's life. And that big part revolved aroudn art, so imo, Rita sees Mashiro quit painting as an act that goes against her life, hence the inscecurities built up and exploded. Rita probably tried to convey this to Mashiro in the past, but it didn't reach her logically and emotionally. This time it did reach Mashiro, jonly emotion wise though. But anyway, that was the first time that we know how Mashiro truly felt when she was in England and I predicted, that was all she need to do to get Rita back to her side.

I have to say Ryunosuke really gained my respect through this episode. Went from a mystery figure to really just making things happen here. Otherwise it really would have just continued to go downhill he forced out the main issues. I'd also agree he certainly isn't the type that should go off chasing Rita that's definitely Sorata's thing. In the end nothing he said was wrong, just that no one could appreciate the blunt truth. Rita completely lost sight of what she wanted to do.
At least it cleared the air. A lot of Rita's motivations weren't that pretty. Started off trying to introduce Mashiro to manga so she could experience a terrible failing. Though to be fair without Sorata she wouldn't have had the written material to make it work. I'd guess that Rita came to Japan at that point ready to escort a 'broken' Mashiro back to England, but things didn't go as planned since Mashiro didn't fail. Then things just really went bad when Rita started unloading everything onto Mashiro. At least it mostly worked out by the end. Finally got down to Rita's core feelings of loving painting and caring about Mashiro. While it's not all cleared up since she's still going to try and get Mashiro back to England and painting at least it's better than nothing. Their friendship getting mended is pretty important.

ahaha ryuunosuke always cuts to the heart of the matter and sees everything.of course his approach is a little abrupt, but i guess rita needed the jolt.
"because it was so much fun painting with you" > oh that was so heartfelt tearjerking "you paint your own pictures" > ah the wisdom of mashiro again makes you smile "I'll do everything I can as best I can" > (from sorata)oh so true , nothing else or more one can do ahaha rita X ryuunoksuke at the end ftw! a lot of other good stuff, maybe i'll post additions later. oh forgot , it was great episode from me, if it still wasn't clear from my thoughts above |

I don't really like Ryunosuke (Yui Horie as a boy is "meh") but it's hard to argue with his reasoning. He exposed Rita's real problems and motivations with pinpoint accuracy. I know a few people like him IRL: unnecessarily blunt, callous, and insensitive, but very smart/talented and good at cutting through the baloney. Sometimes you need people who don't mince words AT ALL, although sparingly since that disdainful, i-don't-give-a-fuck-you're-all-idiots attitude just rubs me the wrong way. He's definitely not someone I'd hang out with if necessary, so good on Sorata for having the thick-skin to tolerate him. After all, he actually needs the guy to help him attain his goals.

You have no idea how difficult it was for me to not say a single word/hint about this episode last week; that the subject matter wouldn't be about Mashiro but rather the focus would switch to Rita instead I definitely prefer this version- a lot less ranting and spite though I sort of wish they had kept the small part about Rita complaining about all the headaches she had to take care of Mashiro And Dragon had alot more screentime as well this week and he is tsun-tsun around Rita alot quicker ! Sorata seem to have a big leap in confidence to be able to give a presentation in a lecture hall

Really liked Ryuunosuke here. Much prefer his approach, in small numbers of course, to everyone beating around the bush and hoping something happens. And I'm glad that there's someone who takes an interest in him with his quirks. Too often that type of character is either randomly a harem lead or no one gives them the time of day, neither of which is interesting.
At first I laughed when Nanami cried to Mashiro and Rita's scene, but on reflection I prefer that to having uninvolved characters just standing in the background, watching as if judging. |

Jealousy, expectation, passion. It's often a mistake to see your idol as the insurmountable wall instead of the shoulder of a giant. I do like the fact that the focus is actually on Rita instead of Sorata, since he had a better grasp of Mashiro's situation than her. Guess what needs is the words from someone with similar perspective; having Mashiro as the idol and casting a great shadow over their ambition.
man, I love this series. Can't wait for next week though judging by the preview :P

Am I an anti-social freak for siding with Ryuunosuke this episode? Seriously, Rita's moronic self-pity got on my nerves this episode, and seeing Ryuunosuke tearing her apart was a gratifying experience.

in all seriousness, I do think that's the point the episode is trying to get across. Rita has got her own inner demons to get rid off, and sometimes you just need a blunt character in Ryuunosuke to break apart her own illusions. There's no victors here really, and no need to look for one. It's not a contest.

While people would call what Ryuunosuke did impolite, he did nothing like that. Speaking the truth is never impolite, though it can cause pain: because the person hearing it has taken a lot of effort to avoid it. Rita was using Mashiro and she got called out on it. She then exploded over the dealing with the reality. The world is a lot better off when people are honest, but the price of honesty is high since we all like our own little delusions. |
