its not realy popular where i live we have had all the pre time skip manga in the library but they r likein perfect condtion nobody ever touches them...well to tell the truth i didnt like it at first either, watched the first few episodes didnt like it, then kept watching for some reason and it grew on me...and plus it was the only thing tht use to come on at 9 back then

Because we humans just love to see other human kick each other ass for sheer glory. I would consider Naruto is a close kin to WWE pro wrestling.

It is innate in most of us, we just like blood for sporting sake.

There are a few anime where I become so connected and attached to the characters and their story that any insult to that show itself feels wrong to me. It may have significant faults in direction, writing, or pace, but I can't bring myself to voice them because it seems wrong to say bad things about something which affected me to that extent. Naruto is that for me, and a lot of other people, I think.

What affected me most of all was the various characters and all their little sob stories. That and earlier in the story much of it was about proving how cool a character was in front of all of their friends, something which has considerable appeal. (Both the friends and the coolness part)

Because despite it's overrated presense, it delivers alot of tension which IMO isn't there sometimes. But most of all people identify with naruto mroe than any other protaognist. I think it's sad.

While I greatly dislike the show I can see why people are lured to it. While I personally hate most of the characters(the only characters I ever liked died way at the beginning), the characters themselves are what I find draws many people to the show. They either like the cool factor of the character or they can relate to them in some way. Its also a show thats very acessable to younger viewers much like DBZ was.

And of course there is the group of people who just love ninjas and action.

If your talking about Naruto the manga not the character, then the reason is simple. Awesome plot, sweet combat scenes and not to mention the characters are awesome and the comady is really funny.

But if your talking about Naruto the character, the the reason is simple. He is a funny person and has his moments where he is really cool and he possesses the most powerful being in the world inside of him the Nine-tailed Fox, he also shows that even hardworks pays off, also his Ninja progress is really interesting.
