^ Amen to that... Why is the animation so damn good?
Fu's death was well-done and I can't stop drooling at Wrath... I also enjoyed those bits of Roy/Riza goodness and Izumi This last arc is one of the epicest things I've seen in an anime...

Greedling's retaliation, really. They're both working together to beat Bradley at this point :P
and yes, it was cut short. I really, really wish they showed more of Greedling + Fuu vs. Bradley, though. The manga panels were so detailed, you could actually follow how the characters moved in the fight (a lot of manga fights are drawn almost as snapshots, where it is difficult to discern just how the characters are maneuvering. The Bradley fight was drawn with a much higher degree of detail). They really shortened the fight in favor of adding scenes with Izumi and Olivier talking about Ed and Falman shooting the machine gun. Stupid IMO, but they have to pick and choose where they spend their animation budget in the final arc, I suppose. Glad they included the move Bradley did to force Fuu to switch weapons with him Last edited by GaimeGuy; 2010-05-16 at 15:38. |

Yep, the way Bradley switched his weapon with Fu was awesome, loved the way he thwarted's Fu kamikaze attack too. Fu was nonetheless very impressive in this episode, even Bradley had to praise him. I wonder just how strong he was in his prime.
I thought Greed screaming along with Lin when Fu started his suicide attack was a nice touch, they even made it the end eyecatch. I agree that his retaliation was too short, or rather didn't seem as intense as in the manga. I thought Fu's death was very well done on the hand, and I enjoyed the words he exchanged with Buccaneer. It took two great men's lives to even wound Bradley, it just shows how much of a monster he is.

Brilliant choice using the track 'one is all, all is one' for Fu's death scene. That really added a lot more impact to the scene.
But yeah it's pretty much kicking off that with that final scene. Plus there was some nice anime original dialogue there with the conversation between Izumi and Olivier.

Great episode as ever.
Just goldtooth & bradley minions popping out of nowhere felt way too random. They would have done better with building up some goldtooth before. Also blaming Ed for not noticing the old man scribbling circles on the ground lol. Nevermind, cliffhanger is oh-so-shiticantwaitanylongertoseemoar. |

it's not really random. We saw Goldtooth in the flashbacks of Bradley's upbringing, and he was also the doctor Raven brought with him to Briggs to heal Kimblee's wounds. And the issue of the leftover fuhrer candidates simply was left unaddressed until now.

Funny thing about one of the fights...
Spoiler:
While I feel that the quality dipped a bit, it's still a good episode overall. Spoiler:
I'm definitely looking forward to what the anime will be showing us next. |

Woa, great episode!
I like the inserts Bones does. The Izumi and Olivier talk was really nice. Also nice foreshadowing to Buccaner's fate with the talk about the dead. That he's even able to still stand up - wow. And jeez even Bones ships Royai . The next episode is gonna hurt D: I do hope that the extra stuff doesn't lead to cuts <_< If not I really like them, since they help the flow of the story. Fu was really awesome. Holding up your ground to Bradley really is something. His death was nicely done, really gets this shock moment that it was all for naught. Bradley's pragmatic and calm reaction to Fu's suicide attack was just as cruel as in the manga or even crueler. Dunno why but here in the anime I found it harder to believe Buccaner was able to sneak behind Fu and hide himself behind the little man - unnoticed by Bradley. Buccaner is a bear of a man and was across the place, wounded. Might be because you can see the the ground behind Fu when he's cut in half. That's pretty much my only qualm. I don't mind the animation drop in the middle, since it means their saving for later .. I hope. @the scribbling, that's actually an insert. To give the doctor something to do while everyone fights. The canvas is already there originally, when they enter the room. The way he sits there scribbling calmly adds to his manacing ickiness imo. And the others do have their hands full. |
