[Manga] Chapter 35 : The Sacrificial Lamb

Again I attempt my disastrous Japanese at translating Arakawa-sensei's marvelous manga (what would my Japanese language teacher say?!). AFAIK, the manga is still unlicensed for the English market at the moment.

Excellent work again Yebyosh. I found this chapter to be particularly disturbing and very important relating to Roy's actions. I think the 2 things he did...

Spoiler:

1)Lie to the Elrics about Hughes 2)carrying out the sentence on an unarmed/untried Maria Ross reveal the sinister side to his character that I suspect Ed and Al will not be able to forgive. Especially as they had to learn about Hughes's murder from the newspaper headlines - Ed will never forgive Roy for that no matter what.

However, I'm assuming the charred body is Ross, there's always the possibility Roy knows she was being used as a scapegoat and may have taken her into his protective custody so that the Military think she is dead. However I think this is a bit generous...

Roy as the 'villain' makes sense now - he can only be Fuhrer by laying waste to 'enemies' and rising in the ranks regardless of who is sacrificed. I'm sure he'll survive the confrontation with Ed and be rewarded by the Fuhrer for tracking down Hughes's killer...

I agree about Barry, he was great in this episode. It's a shame about his past really, he was less of a vile murderer I could really like him...

Yay!! And you've probably read my PM by now, so.. yeah.
We managed to get it done about 6 days after I sent you the scans.. and that was 12 days after it was released on Monthly GANGAN.. not bad, I guess. ^^;

And yeah, Barry was great in this chapter.

I think there's also the fact that Ed, who knows all about the sins, would know better than to believe that Maria Ross would have killed Hughes. And Al mentioned that Hughes might be looking for the information which should click in Ed's mind. As for that one shot fired, I don't remember, but did Ed witness it?
