Well we can finally see some action. Too bad That Thor sucks like always. Its good that his buddy is a tough guy, because weakling Thor would be owned even more badly than he currently is.

Wow, this was sorta unexpected. The thought of Askeladd his men and maybe even Thors being in that place is kind of unsetteling. If that turns out to be cannon; It would be outright blasphemous.

I did really like seeing Thorfinn in his war attire again. With his hair loose and all.

But damn, the thing I dreaded most is coming true.. Pacifist Saga. I really wanted to see old Thorfinn return. :P

But it is called Vinland Saga, and at some point you'd expect the story to focus on said saga.

Thorfinn needs to go back into bad ass mode and kick some ass. This whole last arc was just too drawn out.

Nah from now on it will be all about the crops and whenever teh bad guy does something bad, Thor will spout nonsense about peace will get his ass kicked and sulking regrow the corps.

Seriously though, from what Askelleid was saying I thought he was telling Thorf some Viking Warrior Truth about how you "take those you killed and with their lives on your hands, keep fighting, fight the battles they can't" but no, apparently he is just going to settle down and live the life they would be if alive, which I guess is farming.

I forget, what is Thorfs background? Is he Norse? Dane?

Either way, Thorf is a b1tch now. In the Viking world you live and die by the sword, when you die, you'll be feasting with those you fought in Valhalla, till Ragnarok come.

Thorf will never reach Valhalla now though, you can't make it if you die w/o a sword!

Icelander. His parents fled to Iceland from Jomsborg before he was born, so I guess they were Danes?

As for the chapter itself, all I could think was "That is not what your father said!"

Guess we'll have to see him get nowhere with pacifism before he decides it's ok to fight in defence...

I know I'm probably being too impatient, but I definitely don't like the resolution Thorfinn's drawing here. Living as a pacifist in one of the most turbulent times of history? More farming? Meh. There will be plenty of action from now on, but Thorfinn will be on the receiving end of the violence and injustice. I hope he starts fighting back again before I turn 40...

I am sure that we are going to see how Thorfinn becomes like his father and that means he can't stay like this long any more.

Canute and Thorkell are both historical figures who became important at this time, so I'm sure we'll be seeing more of them one way or another.

It became quite a bit boring once the vindland saga ended and the farmland saga began.

it wasn't that boring but the mangaka did stretch it more then necessary and being a monthly manga doesn't help.
