Anyone find it weird Guts group appears to not know whats going on ? That demon lord herself told them the Astral plane is merging with the Mortal plane, and it was all because of Griffin. So I am confused they acted like they didnt know? Did they forget? didnt listen ?

Well thats what I picked up from this chapter. And really. why do they make it out Caska can be easily cured ? what bs is that ? The whole point of the journey to is drop her off in a safe space. Then Guts turns back to his true mission. Taking down Grif

Why did you think Caska can't be cured? Skull Knight told Guts the king of elves has the power to cure her, remember?

Back at Enoch, Schierke knew the worlds were beginning to merge, as creatures that normally don't appear in the physical world, like trolls, were appearing. They didn't know that Griffith was attacking spiritual trees to facilitate the merging, and neither did readers back then. And with the new chapter (or episode, whatever) out, the attack on Flora is fully explained. And like Kazu said, the Skullknight said it was possible, but not that it would be easy. Judging from what Kukka said about what the process would involve, I don't think it's going to be done with a snap of the fingers. It's probably going to be basically the supernatural equivalent of psychological therapy.

Anyway, my thoughts on 345:

Lol@Morda, while everyone's chatting away, she's just chillaxing with her hat covering her face. And c'mon Azan, sit with the main group already. I guess the golems' liking for chess comes from the elders, it's a nice throwback to Flora's place. Isidro and Isma are hilarious. So is Magnifico

Guts gradually changing and maturing has been great stuff. Before, he couldn't even stand to talk about Griffith for the most part. At some point, he'll be ready to talk about his past with the rest of the group. I also love that despite all this, it's still hard for him to talk about Griffith.

Flora was attacked because she was the guardian of a spiritual tree and Griffith needed to destroy it so the World Tree could expand and upset the balance of the astral and physical worlds.

Guts is right as far as Griffith's concerned, the means and the ends are the same thing. When he was human, Griffith wanted to go above his class and surroundings and play a key role in shaping the the world. Getting a kingdom was the pathway to that. Now he has godlike powers, has his own capital which is the sole "haven" of humanity, controls Apostles, is going to become king when he marries Charlotte and even the Pontiff worships him. He's in control of almost everything, and only a subset of people like witches and other beings have any idea of what he is. He made it possible for the God Hand to manifest themselves fully, so his goals work in tandem with whatever they want to achieve.

It's not clear how much further Griffith wants to take things, but at this point, what's going on already is bad enough. If it's not end game right now, it's close enough to it. Falconia's glamorous and people are living very well, but the reality is a small portion of humanity's dependant on evil forces while almost everyone else suffers and dies. People are forced to stay in his capital and work, and any dissenters like Rickert either face death or have to go outside. They have little control over their own lives and that fits how the God Hand have operated so far.

Witches and other beings are potentially a very convenient enemy, especially for a capital where the Holy See's beliefs are a strong part of everyday life (mass, Sonia appointed as the high priestess of the Holy See and performing spiritual services, the Pontiff, etc.), and should they try to oppose Griffith, eliminating them also serves the dual purpose of furthering severing humanity's access to true spiritual power and knowledge of their universe.

It's also cool that despite all the elders' knowledge and power, in the end, Guts is still more informed about Griffith's character than they are because of his relationship with him and because of that, they're picking Guts's brain trying to figure out what Griffith wants. Finally, Guts is saying what a lot of readers are thinking lol, hurry up and get to Casca already! It's been too long!

Don't think there's much point in stalling her development for 2 decades, mentioning the possibility that she could be healed and the party going through all that trouble if it wasn't going to happen. Development-wise, there's far more you could do with her sane than without. I also very much doubt she'll want to go back to Griffith after what he did to her, and despite any feelings of admiration she had for Griffith, her heart was with Guts until the Eclipse happened.

It's hinted the reason Casca's like this is because she couldn't deal with what happened to her and she shut down to escape it, for good reason. Even when she has flashbacks to the Eclipse in her mind, what Griffith did is never shown, only what the Apostles did, so she's suppressing that event. I think the only way to return her sanity is for her to face what happened to her. It'll be very hard, but I think she'll overcome it. She won't be the same person most likely, but I don't think she'll commit suicide. She's far better off alive than dead development-wise.

After the Eclipse, the Skull dude told Guts that what he wanted wasn't what Caska wanted. Guts wanted revenge against Griffith, thus there is a high chance Caska doesn't desire that but will choose to forgive him instead.

Even if she doesn't desire revenge, that doesn't mean she would forgive him.

I think it's more likely Casca wouldn't want revenge on Griffith primarily for Guts's safety, or concern about their child that's a part of Griffith's vessel and her bond with it, or not wanting to be left alone again and simply wanting to settle down.

My bad, that was a translation mistake from the Korean summary, Evil Genius got it right when Puck tells Guts "not to worry, the Elf King is..." and gets distracted, a very sneaky hint from Miura regarding this chapter/episode.....

I wish I'd googled Danann's name, then I might've figured out the surprise, someone pointed out that it might come from Tuatha Dé Danann. Yes, the Elf King is really a Queen and it's Danann, the one who was serving food to everyone. I should've found it strange when all the elders had meaningful titles and she was just..."the Domestic" lol. Though Miura never specified on the gender originally in Japanese (Ou generally means ruler, etc.), it was an assumption by most translators. Puck was about to reveal who the Elf Queen was back in the last chapter/episode until he got distracted by cake lol.

So, why did Danan disguise herself? Possibly to observe the party and their intentions because she didn't trust them at first?

Lots of comedy this episode, from the elves trying to open Serpico's eyes to the hilarity of Puck, his siblings and the short-lived scheme to try and take over the throne.

Finally, the introduction of baryte is very interesting. It isn't just normal gravity/weight, but something that weighs you down spiritually and feeds obsession. I wonder if that element's related to the God Hand's powers, specifically Femto's. It matches up with him perfectly: his ability to push and crush things, etc. There's potentially a lot more speculation involving baryte, especially how it ties the elements together and possibly makes up the difference between the two worlds as someone on another forum mentioned, but for now, it's too early.
