Spoiler for Game Events:

From the look of it it had a gatling gun's high rate of fire. Thats why it looked like a beam.

IRL GAU-8 Avenger fires rounds so fast, the tracers appear to look like lasers.

Strangely ROF is said to be only 800rpm, which is about four-odd times slower than the GAU-8 .

Still, it's too bad mass production doesn't seem to have happened - this would totally rape BETA.

Well, there's always the possibility that they will in the future. I mean, look at the XG-70. That's a start right there.

When you have the rounds moving at a considerably higher velocity than GAU-8, I guess the level of shiny per round would be greater than the GAU-8's tracers, so it could still look like a beam.

The eye cannot accurately track anything above a certain speed, so high speed objects in tandem would appear as a solid line. With the exhaust plum of the vaporizing rounds, the lines would look like they were impulsed, giving that Death Star beam visual effect.

In the Type-99 case, the velocity of the projectile is at least 2 to 3.5 times the speed of a normal shell, but at a slower rate (800rpm) compared to a Gatling Cannon (~1600 to 6000rpm), which also contributes to the slight gap in the brightness of the line (a faster rate of fire would produce a more even line).

A normal rifle firing at full auto with a mag of tracers actually looks about the same as the animation shown here.

The cooling of the barrel and mechanism from the friction of the rounds moving down the rails seems a bit too fast though, even with LN, which still takes time to cool from extreme tempts. Maybe its a highly heat conductable material.

The only thing I'm not sure is right is the visual representation of the magnetic fields in the animation. That much light would mean an extreme leakage of energy from somewhere, which technically would affect any magnetical object in the vicinity, such as the suit itself. Anyway its a cool effect

Am I right in assuming these were the same type of Railguns that were supposed to be fitted to Susano Type-4? Kinda makes me wonder if they're gonna hint at that in Total Eclipse.

Great, I'm on the way to finish it, I can read it soon.

So far despite using horrible machine translator (which probably destroying my own grammar too atm ) my time going through the Chronicle is pretty fun!

Ha ha, I wrote the transcript using machine code as well Hopefully not too many mistakes. I hate translating Wolfgang's words from the machine. Using your ears is the only way to get through it properly. Enjoy your time in TDA

what's the difference between the novel and the game version of total eclipse? and what's the connection of manga and light novel? because I heard that it continues or something which I read before in general discussion thread.

I already answered a bit of your question in the episode 9 thread, but I'll answer what I can of the rest here.

There is no game version of Total Eclipse except for a short teaser that came with Altered Fable. The full version is supposed to release on the PS3 later this year, though.

Connection between the manga and light novel.. well, I haven't read either, but I think they both more or less tell the same story. The anime is adapting the novels, I believe. However, the novels are on hold until the game comes out, which is supposed to continue where the novels left off.

Honestly, you'd be better off asking someone like Silvance. Oh, and if I'm wrong about anything, then feel free to correct me.

As the anime OST has not been released it would be difficult to tell.

I have finished playing Extra and Unlimited having finished and loved them and I'm about to start Alternative.

As far as I could investigate without spoiling myself this one is going to be the best thing I'm going to read, ever. Is that true guys? I think I have let my expectations grow to unreasonable levels.

Oh, glad to hear that you enjoyed the first two. A lot of people find them boring. Who was your favourite character in Extra, routewise?

More or less, yes. Alternative is one the top tier VNs. And to many, it simply is the best. Nevertheless, you should still keep your expectations in check so as to make sure you enjoy it as much as possible.
