Miracle☆Train ~Ooedo-sen he Youkoso~
Offical Website http://miracletrain.jp/ Offical Website (anime) http://www.miracle-train.tv/ Character Sketches http://journal.mycom.co.jp/news/2009...003/index.html Quote:
Kenichi Kasai Cast Fumi Roppongi: Kenn Itsumi Ryōgoku: Masakazu Morita Rintarō Shinjuku: Ryotaro Okiayu (as in the promo DVD) Iku Shiodome: Yuuki Kaji Saki Tochō: Tomokazu Sugita Izayoi Tsukishima: Daisuke Ono Quote and image from animenation.net (because I'm lazy) Thanks to M.Marangio for the cast and Katapan for mentioning Kansai being the director I sense some people wanted to make some money from anthropomorphizations of 'things', Hetalia proved to be VERY successful (God, did I see England's character single getting 6th on the oricon charts and Kyon only got 9th...). This probally wouldn't too popular with westen fans, just simply we're not familar with japanese trainline. On a personal level, personalfication of trainlines just isn't as fun as countries, but I can see events that happened to the trainline can be personalised into a proper story. I'll check this out for sure, since I'm quite a Hetalia fangirl. But I'll question its popularity...Lets just wait till October

Director: Kenichi Kasai.
... Director: Kenichi Kasai. ... UH? ... w-what? why?!? Ugh. Kasai-san, couldn't you be hired to do Nodame Finale instead? It seems the staff for this has been announced for like a month, yet no one has reacted. Am I missing the place where everyone else is crying or has it really gone completely unnoticed? I had no plans to watch this at all (not because I have anything against manservice, on the contrary - I'd have gladly followed the series and stared at the bishounen all day long if I actually didn't find almost all of their designs completely ugly), but I'm not so sure anymore now. ... and I'm now finally watching the PV for this and oh god I cannot possibly believe Kasai is working on this. This actually looks hilarious, but maybe not for the right reasons.

I was planning to watch this from the start for the guilty pleasures...-roll eyes- I never expected it to be good. But with Kenichi Kasai there, it's definately a watch.
Maybe he can input a story into it, I enjoyed KimiKiss for what it is, so maybe he can change something and make it better then it sounds? But the character design suffers from 'the face is exactly the same!'. I SWEAR I see Tomokazu Sugita's and Daisuke Ono's names in every single thing that is targeted at fujoshi now. I just bought a random issue of Pash! Both of them are in like...alot of BL drama CDs. -roll eyes-

Crunchyroll is going to stream this legally.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...a-no-himitsu-2 Did I just saw Kenn on the seiyuu list? Oh god, he really really really sucks at being a seiyuu, he doesn't sound like he's been through seiyuu school nor try to act. I hope he improves compared to Reborn!. 4/6 of the seiyuus are pretty well known to fujoshis, looks like they're going for Hetalia route too. Finding good popular male seiyuus to attract female watchers?

If I was in Tokyo, I would look out for 'Welcome to the Miracle☆Train' too.
Spoiler for Episode 1, not really spoilerish:
Why did they make this? This wasn't crap, Kasai did his best at making something like this watchable, but honestly, he can spend his time on something...erm...better? I just wanted to laugh at the ballant slash inducing moment, you don't need to make it so obvious. I have a feeling I might watch the episode next week...for guilty pleasure.

So is this show going to be episodic? I only checked it out because of Kenichi Kasai.. but I guess he can only do so much with what is provided. I'm thinking it's trying to cater to bishie fans and train fanatics? Then again, that wouldn't make sense because how many bishie fans are train fanatics?
I'll check out the next episode just to get a better idea of what this show is about, even though, in gentler words, the show was nothing but bland. |

I loved how ANN rated this as -3 out of 5. Since I am the target audience, I don't find it as bad. Yumeta...I know you want to make a cash cow...but it isn't working.
Well I don't think there's another bishie-overload this season...but still...meh I think I'll be watching this to find out why Kasai directing this?

My question is: how did such a nothing show make twenty minutes pass by so easily? Kasai definitely has the touch. Will I board the miracle show next week? Not sure. It's fun to see the stations and learn about travel on the trains. The voices are nice. The bishounen are fairly well drawn. The feeling of being looked after is good. The story is...almost nonexistent.
Akari is played by Sakai Kanako, who starred in REC several years ago and has been little seen as a seiyuu since, since she switched over to hosting anime TV shows.

Rationale could be as simple as the target audience and the character focussed nature of this show. In the industry, demand for those services might not be as high as the demand for directors who specialize in otaku (or standard shounen/shoujo) shows, so you take what you're offered. |
