This is Earth Star Entertainment property. Except Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai!, their anime adaptations (Teekyu, Mangirl!, Yama no Susume) are short anime.
Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai! can also even be considered a short anime if they remove the moaning and groaning scenes from it.

BTW, the original source about this series being 5 minutes is from a person on 2ch saying it is listed on B.L.T. VOICE GIRLS Vol.16 magazine, on page 44 it said the VA finished recorded 8 episode which are 5 minutes in 1 day. No actual scans or screen shot to prove it though.

Same here. I had high hopes for this show, but they're taking so long to come with any form of announcement, I wouldn't be surprised if this were to be true.

Without scans there's no reason to believe this. I've seen far too many troll 2ch leaks and fake magazine news to take their word for it.

I don't get why so many people are/were hyped on it? Manga is mediocre at best.
Feels like Elfen Lied/Deadman Wonderland fans.

Until we have a hard and fast broadcast/webcast schedule and timing, or information on the actual web site, everything is just rumour, and copies of rumour, and copies of copies of rumour.
I'm also disinclined to believe anything on Seventhstyle...

I was hyped because I've seen this compared to Saya no Uta. That and because horror anime are pretty rare.

There are a few manga chapters out. And after reading some of those, well...

To be honest I am not surpised at all that this has had such trouble airing.

I seriously dislike the horror genre to begin with, but for me this one is way over the top.

Plus it is being directed and written by Tomomi Mochizuki who is basically one of the best in the business.

So is it definitely confirmed that it will be a 5 minute one?

Other than what is mentioned in that magazine (and which might be taken out of context, or even wrongly translated), nothing has been confirmed on more reliable channels. I can't find anything about it on the official site, and from what I can make out of Twitter using Google Translate, everyone is still kept in the dark (if there is even any news at all).

At this rate, they might end up either canceling or postponing the show indefinitely.

It's all very strange. The last news on the official anime site is from September. The last tweet at the official twitter account is from early October. But the official character twitters (bots?) seem to be going strong except they seem to cycle through the same stuff and when they post info it's very outdated. At this point I'm half inclined to think it's intentional and the show is actually scheduled for the winter season, but in my rational mind I know it's unlikely.

According to this interview with Comic Earth Star's editor-in-chief, when deciding to make an anime out of the manga they pretty much went "This isn't really TV-friendly but let's make it anyway and then find someplace where it can be aired." So my guess is that whatever deal they managed to secure fell through in the last minute (it must've been for TV because it was advertised as a TV anime), and whatever deal they had with Nicovideo is in limbo likely due to that.

I think we can agree that the production committee should've thought about this before they even assigned Studio DEEN to make the show. Assuming the show is completed (or at the very least in actual production), they now have problems getting it to air, since the subject material is apparently extremely high in gore and no network seems willing to burn itself on this show.

And I'm not sure what the deal with NicoNico is and why they can't use that to air the show, but I'm sure that if they could've aired it somewhere, they would have done so by now.

I'm no huge fan of DEEN but I don't see why they're a problem now... In any case I've only read the first volume of the manga but actually the gore is not that bad. Unless the anime went overboard and is more gory than the manga (very unlikely, the reverse is much more likely) it shouldn't be that much of a problem. They could just shove it somewhere at 3 in the morning.

If the contents are the issue then I think it's more likely that it's the combination of regular, somewhat explicit cannibalism, incestuous overtones, and some pretty bad parental abuse. Plus, I imagine it has zero marketing draw, given that you can't really sell the characters and the relationship between the siblings as cute.

Although it has to be said that "Too gory to show on TV!!!" is a good selling point if the show is completed and released on DVD/Blu-Ray.
