Was there any real indication that the other 3 even knew about the incest other than vague suspicions? From the atmosphere at the end, it seemed like they at least suspected (or maybe it's just sadness that Sora and Haru left)? Nao and Kozue had their conversation a ways off from the group, and neither seems like the type who would simply tell others about it.

Also, the piano theme that keeps running through the series--is that original to the anime, or is there a variation of it in the VN?

It is hard to distinguish the second bunny, since they did not do a close up, but from what I can tell, they both have button eyes.

Also, why there was so much focus on the sky this episode is probably due to it being "Sora's" (Sky) arc.

Nao has known Haru and Sora the longest and it's pretty obvious she knew they were getting closer. Equally obviously she didn't quite expect it to be that close when the reveal came (both anime and game-wise)

Akira is very emphatic and probably perceived the signs (not that they were terribly subtle.. you go Sora <3 )

Then again both aren't exactly the confrontational type (or at least not on the level of Kozue) so they never really give out any hints as to whether or not they realised the full truth. Not to mention neither of them seemed to have too much of a problem accepting it.

Lake's Magic ending

first of all, the events of the last episode are somewhat anachronistic

1. haru and sora really do drown -> ending 1 where bunny is shown torn, email sent by akira (true end)
2. sayori-hime's lake saves them and allows them to "redo"
3. haru wakes up from his "drowning pose" nightmare back in the same day
4. haru elopes with sora -> ending 2 where bunny is patched up, email sent by haru (good end)

come on, YnS uses a save-and-load format, use vn logic

So in Sora's arc:
Haru-- hero
Sora-- heroine
Nao--- support/ the BRO character
Ryouhei--- The NTR guy?/ useless
Iinchou Kozue-- the villain(?)

I don't think Akira and Ryuuhei have any clue. Kazuha, however, most likely knows, which is why she looks a bit uneasy during the last scene. She was already suspecting something in episode 11: when Akira remarked Sora and Haru were getting along very well, she replied she felt it was going beyond the limits of "getting along". After witnessing Kozue and Nao acting very strangely, her suspicions probably grew even further, and they were finally confirmed when Haru and Sora skipped town soon after.

It's also possible Nao and Kozue explained the situation to the others after Haru and Sora left. There was no need to hide it anymore.

I've been wondering about one thing: what happened to Sora and Haru in the other arcs? It's weird we never heard of the uncle's text until now. Could it be it was Haru who contacted him?

And about Haru and Sora's lack of money, I think people are misunderstanding: they didn't have enough money to live comfortably until adulthood, but that doesn't mean they didn't have enough left money to travel. They obviously had some money, or else they wouldn't even have been able to eat.

I don't think there will be anything quite like this for a long time. I'd love to see a state-side release, but given the subject matter, that's probably impossible. Still, the stories moved me more than any other this season. I'm sad to see it end.

I wasn't joking when I proclaimed this the best show of the season (not year though, since Katanagatari easily holds that title). Not only was it an engaging ride from start to finish, but it was a hell of a lot more creative in its delivery than other shows of its ilk, especially given the limitations of a single season. Reading through all these interpretations of how the final Sora episode played out only reinforces that notion.

And cramming in an entire omake arc on top of that instead of relegating it to DVD extras? That's not only generous, that's freakin' genius.

Yup. Haru couldn't stand the guilt trip after meeting with Nao and Kozue, and when he dropped the bomb on Sora at the dinner table, she knew just by looking at him that he instigated it (hence the mess she left behind).

I hope not, since I'm not getting any younger. I'd love to see more shows be as provocative as this.

And this show ends on quite a high point.

I'll say this though. Who the hell saved them from the lake? My interpretation coming out of the episode was that they ended up dieing. All I can say is that makes me feel like shit.

Best show of the season for sure. Among the best of 2010, though there honestly wasn't much competition with how bad this year's been. Sigh.

Episode 12 rating, 9/10.

Series rating, 8.8/10.

Would've rated the series higher if it wasn't for the high volume of unnecessary sex scenes. At the very least, they weren't integrated well into the story a lot of the time.

Ah yes, the first BD/DVD volume comes out today with Kazuha's route. We'll see sometime in the next few days how uncensored episode 4 is.

I'll wait for Sora's BD/DVD. Hopefully, I'll still remember it.

I'm pretty positive there will be more "sound effects" as well.

It was quite funny, I thought!

I was actually convinced that Sora and Haru had died until all that business with the email at the end. The idea that they had miraculously escaped the bottom of the deep lake and run off to another country kind of spoiled it, especially as when it cut to the others they were all behaving like Haru and Sora were dead.

The idea that they had died in the lake, and the scene on the lakeside and in the train was the 'afterlife' (or more a sort of apres vie) just struck me as more dramatic.

It is a little sad that there aren't more thought-provoking shows like this, but at the same time, that just makes me appreciate them even more. And who knows? Maybe we'll see something like this within the next few seasons.

I will say that the Kazuha route is my least favorite of the four. I want to see the extra episodes they release on the fourth disc. A class president route perhaps? I don't think there was one in the actual game, but it would be nice.

She does have a route but in the fandisk "Haruka na Sora"... I sound like a broken record repeating this info, maybe someone should sticky this "info" so people will stop wondering why she never had a "route" in the anime if they ever consider animating her route it will be OVA only most likely because her "route" was never in the original eroge "Yosuga no Sora" to begin with (that's why she doesn't get one for the anime)

I wrote before that I thought the "dead" ending was when they drowned, and everything after that was the "alive" ending. Now I think that's not quite true.

Now I think the final train scene is part of both endings. In the "alive" ending, it is them in a foreign country. In the "dead" ending, it is them in their afterlife together. Works very well, for me. Just another layer of excellence.

I see the e-mail as just part of the "alive" ending, so we don't have to come up with someone to fake it.

At the moment, I have this show rated third-best of the year, behind House of Five Leaves and Shiki, and ahead of Kuragehime and Vampire Bund. Katanagatari doesn't figure anywhere in my list. I just don't get that show. I've struggled to watch three episodes of it, but can't seem to get more than a few minutes into the fourth. Oh, well, we all have slightly different tastes, as my liking of Vampire Bund shows. No-one else seems to give that show any love at all.

Well i've just seen the same part in the visual novel (this chinese guy is crazy, he recorded all the 51 parts of the game lol), there is ton of text and dialogues during and after the lake scene till the end, this is insane how they compress all this in 10 minutes.
The only visual difference here is that the director of the anime add the puppet and the train scene that don't happen in the game (clouds, text message, white ribbon are whown in the game too), prolly for the reason you stated, he want add 2 routes in the same episode creating an ambiguous anime only ending. Too bad, would have been nice to understand what they say in these dialogues, expecially the last scene with all the girls and when Sora smile on the bag before the departure.

You gotta love the user's dedication to tape the ENTIRE game-v-;;. It's only a matter of time until people will ask him which videos show the good parts.
