at first it was said it had 52 ep greenlit, but since it has gotten very popular i dont think we are going to see it end soon, also the manga has advanced since the first series so there are two more arcs past greed island, so if they keep adapting the source material at the same pace they had been doing, we have at least another year and a half of HxH.

Sad thing is that the manga does not look as if it has an ending route and Togashi keeps taking breaks. As a result this anime would end after the Chimera arc. (I'm not commenting that)

Nah there is actually one more decent sized arc after the chimera arc.

Well when I was reading that arc I thought
Spoiler for Spoilers?:
If the anime catches up with the manga this last arc after Chimera would serve as a good ending for the story.

the anime will eventually catch the manga regardless togashi comes back or not from his hiatus, my hope its that it goes the saint seiya route, where the anime got ahead of the manga in a cononic way(unlike FMA or soul eater), because at this pace togashi its not gonna live long enough to give an end to the series.

What happens when a manga goes unfinished anyways?

Don't want to get into manga spoiler stuff, but the anime can stop at the end of the last manga arc where togashi took his last break and it would work out nearly perfect, so I don't think they'll even need to make their own ending.

I'm late to the party. So Paku's death was somewhat sad and Hisoka's face was priceless.
Now , Greed Island arc. I don't really remember what happens in details in this arc too but i do remember the girl ^^ Things will be funny.

Hmm, I never even noticed in the manga that the girl was among the newbies, I assumed she was one of the hunters that owned their own copy of the game...

Seriously – did anyone doubt for a second that Gon would put out “Rock”?

Kurapika left..
Mr. Battera got his hands on all the copies of Greed island.
The audition for players was interesting.
Killua passed with flying colors and so did Gon.
That was totally expected though.
I'm glad this arc is finally starting! Been waiting for this ^^

That was nice of the guy to help Killua sort out his thoughts. Figures Ging would leave a message, but didn't think he'd outright say that playing the game has nothing to do with finding his location.

I don't know where everyone gets their info.. But Togashi is not dieing or whatever. The reason for most of his breaks is not his health, it's because he works on HxH ALONE and just don't give a fuck basically.

Not any time soon, no, but at this pace he WILL die before finishing it.

Also I was just speaking hypothetically.

I suspect though that the anime will keep following the manga right up to the point where it's at right now. I mean, that IS a good point to end a series at.

there are 2 reasons that had been said for his breaks, first prevent what happened to him when working in yu yu hakusho, second to be with his family, i certainly can't prove that those reasons are the truth, but i doubt neither you can deny it either, also im not refering to him dying from illnes, if you take into notice the man is nearly 47 and the pace he had been releasing the manga, he migth as well retire before beign able to en the series, with a proper ending at least.

"Prevent what happened to him when working with Yu Yu Hakusho"?

What happened?

It had a fairly abrupt, rushed ending.

As to why that happened, there's a bunch of rumors, ranging from lost motivation to what is probably the most prominent one: his editor/Shounen Jump wanted him to make the final arc more like DBZ which he didn't appreciate and thus just ended it.

So now in order to make up for it they treat him like a god who can come and go as he pleases.

well what i knew was a little different, apparently he overworked so much in yu yu hakusho that all the stress took its toll on its health, but like vicious said, its editor seemed to had pushed him too much, and yu yu hakusho crearly didnt had a proper ending, the thing is that he took it too far, its quite clear he takes breaks to play dragin quests games, and the last one beign an MMO its probably why he has been more than one year off, i dont think thats wrong he should just be honest, like kentaro miura who clearly says hes taking breaks to play idolmaster.
