kakashi trained by Yondaime? does this make sense?

kakashi was trained by Yondaime but Yondaime died 12 years ago. as from seeingf the movie preivews kakashi was in snow country and left 10 years ago. does this mean Yondaime only trained kakashi and possibly obito for 2 years only?

The timeline in the movie is really messed up with the facts and wouldn't really match up with the actual timeline for the manga/anime. Think of the movie as more like those Jump Festa Specials, it's basically an alternate universe.

Well, I'm going to try to answer this question without knowing any real statistics about dates and ages. Yes it's possible Kakashi was only trained for two years. He was extremely talented, and probably moved onto Chuunin by then, and if not, someone else trained him.

Well, as others have mentioned, anime movies and/or OVAs are usually not associated with the "original" storyline.

From what has been presented from the manga/anime, it is not known how long Kakashi was under Yondaime Hokage's tutelage.

Some points to think about:
- Yondaime died 13 years ago, Kakashi would have been 13 or 14 (this depends on how much time has passed since the start of the Naruto storyline).
- Kakashi graduated the ninja academy at age 5 and became a chuunin at age 6.
- A genin receives a jounin sensei after they graduate ninja academy.
- There has been no reference to when Yondaime became Hokage or how long he served before Kyuubi's attack.

Also, it is not really known if a genin continues training with a jounin sensei once he/she is promoted to a chuunin, but, there's always a possibility.

Kakashi = student at age 5 (when he turned genin)

He was under the 4th until age 13~ (Anbu leader at that age, right?).

He was 16 when the movie happened probably, and probably also didn't have the Sharingan.

No that was Itachi not Kakashi.

I believe that it was mentioned in the manga that when kakashi was already an Anbu member, Itachi became leader of the anbu at 13. I'm not sure how old kakashi is but I faintly remember reading somewhere that kakashi was 17 when Itachi was made the anbu leader. hehe, I'm not actually sure how old Kakashi is now currently in the manga and anime.

When Kakashi was 17, Itachi was barely 8 years old.

Like Satoru said, Kakashi only said that he was a member of the Anbu.
