I recall seeing fanart from an anime episode or manga chapter the very same day after its release (though I can't remember if it was K-ON! or another show).

But, either way, it's a nice picture.

Also note that the tartan actually follows the curves and folds of their skirts...very unlike the standard anime (especially SHAFT) style of just laying out the pattern over the entire cloths with straigh lines.

Most likely that the artist mixed up the fact that it should be a white line instead of yellow going through the red field. After all, the Royal Stewart has become so popular with a lot of different versions, with enough variations to make people mistake what the actual standard is like.
