The battle was intense. Both Frieda and Freya were exchanging blows and dodging attacks. They would jump into the air and traded attacks after attacks before they landed on their ground arena to continue their duel. Sometimes Freya would jump away from Frieda and used Kali as extensions to her Mid-Childan offensive magic, forcing Frieda to use Beowulf as her defensive shield. The resulting impact when Frieda’s “particle cannon” magic collided with Frieda’s magic-enhanced protection annihilated the water tower’s entire structure, and with no fighting ring available the female warriors headed to another building and continued their duel.

“I never thought you would be this strong,” Frieda spoke as she slammed Beowulf onto Kali; Freya pushed the gunslinger knight faraway and counterattacked with multiple thrusts that were parried. “Who taught you?” Frieda asked and parried the last attack.

Freya giggled. “No one,” she replied and backed off as Frieda resumed her sword assaults. “My sister and I learned everything from zero. Kali!”

--“Yes, Mistress!”--

Kali inexplicably detached and transformed into three-section staff that ensnared Beowulf. Startled by the unexpected transformation, Frieda had no time to react when Freya delivered a magic blow onto her midsection that sent her crashing into a nearby building.

“Good job, Kali!”

Kali returned into its initial form. Freya took no risk of letting the Belkan knight retaliate and shot multiple projectiles into the buildings. The magical barrage destroyed the section of the building, and yet Freya showed no signs of stopping. The determination was boiling, and the girl would stop at nothing until her opponent is fully put into submission.

The bombardment stopped. Freya spun Kali in her hand, bringing it to the left flank of her body. She stared into the ruins, not disturbed by the swift gust of wind that mysteriously blew across the battlefield.

“Is it over?”

--“Mistress!”--

The girl’s instinctive reflex made her duck, and a super-concentrated magic bullet passed over head, barely hitting her by half an inch. It was so unexpected Freya had no idea it came from beneath the ruins, and she was startled when she found out who fired the shot.

“Quite nasty the strength you possess, Freya…”

Frieda re-emerged from the rubbles. She was oddly calm, despite her Knight Armour being stripped off its sleeves and shoulder plates. She stared at Freya, long enough to cause her to reassume her stance.

“I cannot believe you could survive the bombardment…” Freya snarled.

Frieda chuckled. “Freya dear, let me show the correct way to handle an opponent.” So saying, she inserted cartridges into Beowulf’s cylindrical magazine, locked and loaded the Gunblade, and pointed to Freya. “Beowulf.”

--“Ja, Meister Frieda.”--

The woman giggled.

“Bang.”

Nothing but the absolute truth will suffice. Aurion may be considerate. But when he's counseling he usually uses plain facts. And he hammers them in HARD! Plus, his target time only allows for a few hours at most. And his methods usually involve using a Magic Isolation Field (A field that cloaks the area from most scanners and detection) for a one-on-one talk. And some of his methods are somewhat... Unorthodox. Expect to see some unconventional methods in the first part...

I'm not even sure if I will make it out of the day alive after I complete and post that scenario.

Lindy Hallaoun had just settled in for the evening – she had curled up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and was ready to begin her weekend movie marathon when she heard a knock at the door. Figuring that it was probably just Mr. Harada looking for his dog – AGAIN – she ignored it.

The knock came again, more insistent this time. Again, Lindy ignored it.

This pattern continued until Lindy realized that whoever was at the door was pounding so hard that they might very well bust down the door the next time they tried. She sprinted to the door, shouting that she was coming. Lindy steeled herself for the oncoming verbal barrage, and opened the door…

It never came. The visitor was NOT Mr. Harada, but another familiar figure.

“Hello, Lindy. Mind if I come in?”

Lindy was stunned beyond words. She merely gestured inside, and the visitor proceeded inwards, removing his boots and coat.

The two proceeded back into the living room, and sat opposite each other on the couch. The visitor gestured towards the screen.

“I see that you’re still into Earth movies.”

“Yes,” Lindy replied. “It’s a wonderful way to spend time – either alone or together. Speaking of which, I’ve heard from Fate-chan that you have some prospects…”

The visitor sighed. “That girl needs to learn to keep her nose out of other people’s love lives – her AND her three Ace friends.”

Lindy smiled. “Now, now, Arcas, you know that she’s just trying to help a nice boy like you find a nice girl to settle down with.”

Arcasaviel Emira, the Dragonslayer, nodded heavily. “I know, but she could at least be a little more… indirect in her efforts.”

“True enough,” Lindy laughed. “So, what can I help you with?”

“I want you to teach me Mid-magic.”

“I’ve been having trouble pulling my own weight in combat without Full Drive Mode, and I figured that increased versatility would help out.”

“Just until we’re placed back on the active duty roster.”

Lindy was puzzled. “Shouldn’t that have happened a few days after you got back?”

Arcas nodded. “It was SUPPOSED to, but then this whole mess with the Necron came up, and all available units were to respond, and bureaucracy, and mucho paperwork, and…”

“I get the idea. So, when?”

“One week, give or take a few days.”

Lindy’s eyes widened. “A WEEK?! Even Nanoha couldn’t teach you Mid-magic in one week! What makes you think I can?”

“Lindy, I don’t care what sort of training from Hell you have to put me through to learn Mid-magic in a week. Besides, I’m just looking for the basics – nothing fancy at all. I’ve got the general idea for the spells I want, too.”

“What about a Device?”

“Right here,” Arcas answered, producing from a pocket a silver playing card with the outline of a red diamond on it. Arcas spun the card in midair, and it glowed, changing into its active form.

“Lindy, meet the Intelligent Device Apalis.”

“Hello, Apalis.”

Lindy looked over the design. “It looks an awful lot like Chrono’s Durandal…”

“Yeah, I found out from Dauer that the team who designed it also put Durandal together.”

Indeed it did appear like Durandal, but with a silver and crimson motif rather than Durandal’s white and blue. Mounted near the top of the staff was an interesting-looking mechanism.

“What’s that?”

“Like it? It’s a permanent version of Aurion Dauer’s Roulette cartridge system – holds up to a dozen cartridges at a time. So, how about it, Admiral? Will you teach me?”

Lindy looked at Apalis, then nodded slowly.

“All right, I’ll teach you what I know – on two conditions.”

“Name them.”

“First, that you not complain about how hard I’m going to push you.”

“Agreed, and the second?”

“That you sit yourself down here and enjoy the movie with me!”

“Yes, Ma’am!”

He should have finished off the battle easily and returned to the headquarters with the Gemini Sisters apprehended. With the opportunity was lying ahead of him, he should have pulled the trigger and sent Aura down with a single shot. Or he could have used Schnee Kugel to inflict severe damage on the girl’s Linker Core, easily subduing her without having to physically harm her.

Yet somehow he could not.

Because the longer he stared at Aura through the viewfinder, the more he felt the girl’s vulnerability. And the longer he waited, the longer he could see the girl’s face change to the look of despair. And the longer he played the game of patience, the more he remembered his promise to his little sister Yumemi.

I'm very surprised the producers chose that day. This is rather delicate stuff in the US. And for those who have not watched Hunter X Hunter, a massacre happened around the same date in "York Shin" (translated New York--they even used real footage of the city, showing the twin towers and all in the anime)... though it was completely unintentional, and if I recall correctly, the manga was written before the real incident. However, this in StrikerS is no coincidence.

I was thinking that too..... But then again, the tower doesn't really go down, and the actual fighting, I think, starts the day after...

Background:
He appeared in MC 0064, with the assassination of a Lieutenant General in the Ground Forces inside the capital. After the attack, several mages were sent, only for command to lose contact with them several seconds later. After a while, the assailant escaped, and a team was sent out to find what happened to the others. What they found was anything but normal. They found the mages....or what was left of them on the ground. They had been cut up into pieces, and there was no evidence of physical cuts. That wasn't the last time he struck though. Over the next 3 years, he systematically assassinated targets, mostly people involved with the Army's secret project. Mages who were sent against him were decimated and the few that survived and weren't psychologically affected heard his name: Nil. They also gave him a name, the Dark Lord of Nothingness, for his tendency to show no emotion, no pain, and barely any words as he cut through groups of mages. He was always with another person, one that was named Sion. Together, they were almost unbeatable. Getting desperate, Command decided to cast a trap for both of them, using a mix of experienced and inexperienced mages. This included the 216th Special Combat Unit's Sky Squad, several Navy personnel, such as Chrono Haralown, and some new mages that had potential, including Hayate Yagami, Nanoha Takamachi, and Fate Haralown. They met in a wooded area on MC 0067. At first, Nil and Sion had the advantage, killing some and severely wounding others. Soon, though, the advantage turned to the TSAB's side. and Nil gave Sion the order to retreat. Reluctant and enraged at first, Sion eventually left, leaving Nil to fight alone. As the battle raged on, Chrono and Hayate were left, Nanoha and Fate leaving to get Sion. They soon fought, and Nil, Yagami, and Haralown were severely injured. Preparing for a final strike, Chrono managed to land a Stinger Snipe on Nil's Linker Core while an explosion aimed apparently at everyone hit all of them. Nil was found to be in a comatose state, barely alive, and was captured.

Personality:
He was a cold individual, not responding to emotions or pain. He rarely spoke, only to the enemies he was about to decimate, and to give orders to Sion, his partner. He kept this throughout his time attacking the TSAB, without any signs of changing. In fact, anyone could say that he had no remorse for other people he killed. He seemed to be following orders, though, for someone else, although it is not known who. There have been therories, and one of them is that Jail Scagletti is Nil's employer or even a project of his, due to the Barrier Jacket Nil had that
slightly matches the Numbers' own suits. This, like all theories, is unproven.

Device:
He had a Dual Device of sorts, still unknown, that he used effectively. His Device's main form was a katana-wakizashi combination, although he had other forms for it, like a nodachi and twin kodachis. His secondary system resembles a USAS-12, used by him for either escaping or for execution shots. Other than that, anything else about it is unknown.


Fighting Style:
His fighting style was an aggressive and quick style. He would always use spells to cut down enemies, and finish off others with his attacks. He apparently knew a lot of styles of sword fighting, and he kept on switching them in battle to confuse any potential opponents. He was very skilled, even to the point that he switched his weapons on both of his hands during fighting. He always fought with surprises, whether with spells that he hadn't shown in previous battles, or items such as conventional weapons that he carried.


Barrier Jacket:
His Barrier Jacket is reminiscient of the Numbers' suits, except that it was in a matte black and some parts were upgraded for more protection. On the collar, there was a "0" on it, fitting

of his name.

Falcon's Eye: An upgraded form of Eagle's Eye, this let the user to "predict" other's attacks, using magic to react faster than them, and to enhance seeing while in Mach Move. All the weaknesses of Eagle's Eye are not apparent.

Erschütterung Rand (Vibration Edge): This spell modifies a Device's blade by using small ultrasonic generators inside the Device itself to vibrate the edges very fast, which makes it easier for the user to cut through objects. With a bit of magic covering the edges, they can also cut through AMF fields, albeit for a short time, as the blade only disrupts the AMF field, not destroying it. Nil's variation is that the edge glows black. He also doesn't need cartridges to activate it.

Movement:

Mach Move: Contrary to the name, the user does NOT go at supersonic speeds. It is a variation of Sonic Move where the user goes at extremely high speeds, so fast that the normal eye cannot track the user at all; all they see is a blur . The effect also lasts longer, but is even more draining than Sonic Move. Nil's variation can make afterimages by will.

Trapar Wave Flight: Using electromagnetic energy, wind, and reflective films under the shoes that gather magical energy, the user is able to fly through the skies using this spell. It leaves almost no trace, save for a slight distortion of the wind, and is useful for stealth missions. Nil's variation is that he also can make small sonic booms at will.

Offensive:
Burst Shooter: Similar to Accel Shooter, but shoots eight extremely high-speed magic missiles, fired from the eight points of the Ustio octagon. Nil can fire these faster than others, and the missiles impede themselves on the target and explode.

Breac Wave Breaker: Using 2 cartridges, this spell collects magical energy in a wave. Aside from that, it is not that different from the Sioric Wave Buster except it's more powerful. It is much slower to fire than other similar working spells. Nil's variation cuts the casting time and firing time in half.

Schwallfaust (Barrage Fist): Nil does a combination of punches with the power of Haubitzefaust, ensuring that if they don't die when he's done with it, he can kill them later.

Bloody Dagger: The same spell used by Reinforce, with some alterations. Nil's can hit faster and go longer, and he can cast it in a full circle. Uses 1 cartridge.

Prop Chopper: Nil, when he changes his blade to a nodachi, spins it around, making quick work of people close to him.

Sonic Blast: When Nil's Device takes the form of two kodachis, he can use wind to make a sonic blast that can cut through anyone.

Swords of the Dark Sky:It is similar to Satoshi's spell "Swords of the Azure Sky", except that all of the swords are cast, and the swords are a dark red. Uses 3 cartridges.

Spears of Thermopylae: Nil casts 100 spears 3 times, and launches them. They can only go in one direction, but when used on a group, it can potentially impale the whole group. Uses 2 cartridges.

Gale Saber: The same spell as Satoshi's Gale Saber, Nil wraps his Device's blade with wind, increasing the attack range a bit. It can also be thrown, and it gets faster the more distance there is between him and the target. Nil's variation is that the wind is easily found, but does more damage.

Gale Javelin: Nil makes 4 javelin-shaped projectiles that he throws. It could only go in a parabolic angle, but the projectiles are guided by him and can be used to attack from above. He could also multiply the javelins to a maximum of 16 by cutting down the power of each individual projectile by half and to a fourth.

Sturmwind (Storm Wind): Nil sends out four wind blades. Particles in the wind blades, ionized by magic, shocks enemies and machines alike when touched. They can also chain together to make a line of static electricity.

Feuersturm (Fire Storm): Nil spins in the air, putting fire on his blades, and shooting them in all directions. Uses 1 cartridge.

Plasma Drill: Nil spins in the air with his blades on the front, charge with electricity. Anyone unlucky to get in its way is shocked severely.

Eis-Regen (Ice Rain): Nil, in his Device's secondary form, shoots a lot of ice shards and guides them to rain on the target.

Eiskanone (Ice Cannon): Nil makes a huge shard of ice, targeted at a group or larget target and fires. The shard then breaks up into a enormous amount of pieces. Uses 2 cartridges.

Ice Age:Nil makes a circular barrier of ice around him, then shatters it, creating ice shards in every direction. He can also burst the barrier and reform it to make a spiked barrier.

Northern Cross: Nil makes a bird-shaped arrow of electricity that grows by distance, and is able to knock out communications in its wake. Uses 3 cartridges.

Razgriz: Nil sends out a multitude of jet black arrow-shaped projectiles that cover a wide area and go a long distance, about 50-85 kilometers. Uses 4 cartridges.

Star Forge: Nil's ultimate attack, he becomes a factory of deadly magical projectiles by collecting magical energy from the surrounding area with speed and using it to fuel his own magical reserves, while Nil shoots out small, fast projectiles in the area very quickly. Due to the immense amount of magical energy, Nil can only use this for 5 seconds, but the damage done is more than enough. Uses 6 cartridges.

Defensive:
Variable Shield: Same as Satoshi and Alexi's spell of the same name.

Vanguard: Nil can send out Variable Shields about 10 feet away from him. He can even cast them without putting his hand out to make them i.e. he can cast six shields to protect himself while his two hands are busy.

Sturmgeist (Storm Spirit): Similar to Panzergeist, Nil makes an defensive aura of dark red electricity. Uses 1 cartridge.

Focal Break: Same as Satoshi's Focal Break.

Kreuzverriegelung (Cross Catch): Nil forms his arms in a cross pattern, and he can catch projectiles with it.

Binds:
Schattenbindung (Shadow Bind): Nil has the ability to bind targets with shadows. Unlike Satoshi's and Alexi's form, Nil can bind and hold a target without relying on how much shadow there is.

Whilrwind Bind: Not a bind per se, but Nil makes a whirlwind that contains a target. It also slowly damages them.


Trivia:
-It is rumored that Nil is dead, due to information about him either gone or top secret.
-It is also rumored that Nil and Satoshi Kazukuni, the leader of Sky Squad, 216th Special Combat Unit, are the same person due to their looks, their magic style, and the apparent similarities and even same magic spells. It could also be a set of extremely similar circumstances...

Background:
He appeared in MC 0064, with the assassination of a Lieutenant General in the Ground Forces inside the capital. After the attack, several mages were sent, only for command to lose contact with them several seconds later. After a while, the assailant escaped, and a team was sent out to find what happened to the others. What they found was anything but normal. They found the mages....or what was left of them on the ground. They had been cut up into pieces, and there was no evidence of physical cuts. That wasn't the last time he struck though. Over the next 3 years, he systematically assassinated targets, mostly people involved with the Army's secret project. Mages who were sent against him were decimated and the few that survived and weren't psychologically affected heard his name: Nil. They also gave him a name, the Dark Lord of Nothingness, for his tendency to show no emotion, no pain, and barely any words as he cut through groups of mages. He was always with another person, one that was named Sion. Together, they were almost unbeatable. Getting desperate, Command decided to cast a trap for both of them, using a mix of experienced and inexperienced mages. This included the 216th Special Combat Unit's Sky Squad, several Navy personnel, such as Chrono Haralown, and some new mages that had potential, including Hayate Yagami, Nanoha Takamachi, and Fate Haralown. They met in a wooded area on MC 0067. At first, Nil and Sion had the advantage, killing some and severely wounding others. Soon, though, the advantage turned to the TSAB's side. and Nil gave Sion the order to retreat. Reluctant and enraged at first, Sion eventually left, leaving Nil to fight alone. As the battle raged on, Chrono and Hayate were left, Nanoha and Fate leaving to get Sion. They soon fought, and Nil, Yagami, and Haralown were severely injured. Preparing for a final strike, Chrono managed to land a Stinger Snipe on Nil's Linker Core while an explosion aimed apparently at everyone hit all of them. Nil was found to be in a comatose state, barely alive, and was captured.

Personality:
He was a cold individual, not responding to emotions or pain. He rarely spoke, only to the enemies he was about to decimate, and to give orders to Sion, his partner. He kept this throughout his time attacking the TSAB, without any signs of changing. In fact, anyone could say that he had no remorse for other people he killed. He seemed to be following orders, though, for someone else, although it is not known who. There have been therories, and one of them is that Jail Scagletti is Nil's employer or even a project of his, due to the Barrier Jacket Nil had that
slightly matches the Numbers' own suits. This, like all theories, is unproven.

Device:
He had a Dual Device of sorts, still unknown, that he used effectively. His Device's main form was a katana-wakizashi combination, although he had other forms for it, like a nodachi and twin kodachis. His secondary system resembles a USAS-12, used by him for either escaping or for execution shots. Other than that, anything else about it is unknown.


Fighting Style:
His fighting style was an aggressive and quick style. He would always use spells to cut down enemies, and finish off others with his attacks. He apparently knew a lot of styles of sword fighting, and he kept on switching them in battle to confuse any potential opponents. He was very skilled, even to the point that he switched his weapons on both of his hands during fighting. He always fought with surprises, whether with spells that he hadn't shown in previous battles, or items such as conventional weapons that he carried.


Barrier Jacket:
His Barrier Jacket is reminiscient of the Numbers' suits, except that it was in a matte black and some parts were upgraded for more protection. On the collar, there was a "0" on it, fitting

of his name.

Falcon's Eye: An upgraded form of Eagle's Eye, this let the user to "predict" other's attacks, using magic to react faster than them, and to enhance seeing while in Mach Move. All the weaknesses of Eagle's Eye are not apparent.

Erschütterung Rand (Vibration Edge): This spell modifies a Device's blade by using small ultrasonic generators inside the Device itself to vibrate the edges very fast, which makes it easier for the user to cut through objects. With a bit of magic covering the edges, they can also cut through AMF fields, albeit for a short time, as the blade only disrupts the AMF field, not destroying it. Nil's variation is that the edge glows black. He also doesn't need cartridges to activate it.

Mach Move: Contrary to the name, the user does NOT go at supersonic speeds. It is a variation of Sonic Move where the user goes at extremely high speeds, so fast that the normal eye cannot track the user at all; all they see is a blur . The effect also lasts longer, but is even more draining than Sonic Move. Nil's variation can make afterimages by will.

Trapar Wave Flight: Using electromagnetic energy, wind, and reflective films under the shoes that gather magical energy, the user is able to fly through the skies using this spell. It leaves almost no trace, save for a slight distortion of the wind, and is useful for stealth missions. Nil's variation is that he also can make small sonic booms at will.

Offensive:
Burst Shooter: Similar to Accel Shooter, but shoots eight extremely high-speed magic missiles, fired from the eight points of the Ustio octagon. Nil can fire these faster than others, and the missiles impede themselves on the target and explode.

Breac Wave Breaker: Using 2 cartridges, this spell collects magical energy in a wave. Aside from that, it is not that different from the Sioric Wave Buster except it's more powerful. It is much slower to fire than other similar working spells. Nil's variation cuts the casting time and firing time in half.

Schwallfaust (Barrage Fist): Nil does a combination of punches with the power of Haubitzefaust, ensuring that if they don't die when he's done with it, he can kill them later.

Bloody Dagger: The same spell used by Reinforce, with some alterations. Nil's can hit faster and go longer, and he can cast it in a full circle. Uses 1 cartridge.

Prop Chopper: Nil, when he changes his blade to a nodachi, spins it around, making quick work of people close to him.

Sonic Blast: When Nil's Device takes the form of two kodachis, he can use wind to make a sonic blast that can cut through anyone.

Swords of the Dark Sky:It is similar to Satoshi's spell "Swords of the Azure Sky", except that all of the swords are cast, and the swords are a dark red. Uses 3 cartridges.

Spears of Thermopylae: Nil casts 100 spears 3 times, and launches them. They can only go in one direction, but when used on a group, it can potentially impale the whole group. Uses 2 cartridges.

Gale Saber: The same spell as Satoshi's Gale Saber, Nil wraps his Device's blade with wind, increasing the attack range a bit. It can also be thrown, and it gets faster the more distance there is between him and the target. Nil's variation is that the wind is easily found, but does more damage.

Gale Javelin: Nil makes 4 javelin-shaped projectiles that he throws. It could only go in a parabolic angle, but the projectiles are guided by him and can be used to attack from above. He could also multiply the javelins to a maximum of 16 by cutting down the power of each individual projectile by half and to a fourth.

Sturmwind (Storm Wind): Nil sends out four wind blades. Particles in the wind blades, ionized by magic, shocks enemies and machines alike when touched. They can also chain together to make a line of static electricity.

Feuersturm (Fire Storm): Nil spins in the air, putting fire on his blades, and shooting them in all directions. Uses 1 cartridge.

Plasma Drill: Nil spins in the air with his blades on the front, charge with electricity. Anyone unlucky to get in its way is shocked severely.

Ice Age:Nil makes a circular barrier of ice around him, then shatters it, creating ice shards in every direction. He can also burst the barrier and reform it to make a spiked barrier.

Northern Cross: Nil makes a bird-shaped arrow of electricity that grows by distance, and is able to knock out communications in its wake. Uses 3 cartridges.

Razgriz: Nil sends out a multitude of jet black arrow-shaped projectiles that cover a wide area and go a long distance, about 50-85 kilometers. Uses 4 cartridges.

Star Forge: Nil's ultimate attack, he becomes a factory of deadly magical projectiles by collecting magical energy from the surrounding area with speed and using it to fuel his own magical reserves, while Nil shoots out small, fast projectiles in the area very quickly. Due to the immense amount of magical energy, Nil can only use this for 5 seconds, but the damage done is more than enough. Uses 6 cartridges.

Defensive:
Variable Shield: Same as Satoshi and Alexi's spell of the same name.

Vanguard: Nil can send out Variable Shields about 10 feet away from him. He can even cast them without putting his hand out to make them i.e. he can cast six shields to protect himself while his two hands are busy.

Sturmgeist (Storm Spirit): Similar to Panzergeist, Nil makes an defensive aura of dark red electricity. Uses 1 cartridge.

Focal Break: Same as Satoshi's Focal Break.

Kreuzverriegelung (Cross Catch): Nil forms his arms in a cross pattern, and he can catch projectiles with it.

Binds:
Schattenbindung (Shadow Bind): Nil has the ability to bind targets with shadows. Unlike Satoshi's and Alexi's form, Nil can bind and hold a target without relying on how much shadow there is.

Whilrwind Bind: Not a bind per se, but Nil makes a whirlwind that contains a target. It also slowly damages them.

Why do I have a feeling that a couple of ultimate spells will get all the attention like the rest of in general moderately powerful arsenal doesn't exist?

Feels remarkably Pokemon here, though I think its just the Vines and Mirror Move. And yes standard field barriers would be the last line of defence against the ND. But if you go to the tech thread, you'd see that I've been using nanites to explain many henshin systems in the Nanohaverse having drawn them from the Otome universe due to remarkable similarities, so I'm think its still in canon.

Those two spells is my quick reply to S'Zet involvement with Saint Church Some kind of technology is most probably used to artificially draw respective kinds of energies. In general S'Zet aim for more than just use divine and chaotic energies to cast rare spells - ultimately to make them as common as regular magic now. I do recall that discussion - it linked the usage of dark and divine magic to specific types of linker cores in general. S'Zet do it with technology instead, like emulating respective linker cores; it's not perfected yet, hence long casting times, excessive cartridge usage etc.

1. EMP Siegels don't exist at the moment, but I have assigned EMP Traps to the Knight-technician of the RG as a countermeasure against mechanical targets. Imagine if such things can also disable the Numbers and Drones in one blast!

2. I see. This is all perfectly valid.

I hope she understands the risk of drawing Chaos mana.

And also, forcibly drawing divine mana without divine blessing would have painful effects on the user, a concept I've drawn from the Blood Elves of WoW. You might want to add that in as well, since Sarah is clearly the unreligious type and is doing what the Blood Elves are doing with divine mana.

They would jump into the air and traded attacks after attacks before they landed on their ground arena to continue their duel. Sometimes Freya would jump away from Frieda and used Kali as extensions to her Mid-Childan offensive magic, forcing Frieda to use Beowulf as her defensive shield. The resulting impact when Frieda’s “particle cannon” magic collided with Frieda’s magic-enhanced protection annihilated the water tower’s entire structure, and with no fighting ring available the female warriors headed to another building and continued their duel.

“I never thought you would be this strong,” Frieda spoke as she slammed Beowulf onto Kali; Freya pushed the gunslinger knight faraway and counterattacked with multiple thrusts that were parried. “Who taught you?” Frieda asked and parried the last attack.

Freya giggled. “No one,” she replied and backed off as Frieda resumed her sword assaults. “My sister and I learned everything from zero. Kali!”

--“Yes, Mistress!”--

Kali inexplicably detached and transformed into three-section staff that ensnared Beowulf. Startled by the unexpected transformation, Frieda had no time to react when Freya delivered a magic blow onto her midsection that sent her crashing into a nearby building.

“Good job, Kali!”

Kali returned into its initial form. Freya took no risk of letting the Belkan knight retaliate and shot multiple projectiles into the buildings. The magical barrage destroyed the section of the building, and yet Freya showed no signs of stopping. The determination was boiling, and the girl would stop at nothing until her opponent is fully put into submission.

The bombardment stopped. Freya spun Kali in her hand, bringing it to the left flank of her body. She stared into the ruins, not disturbed by the swift gust of wind that mysteriously blew across the battlefield.

“Is it over?”

The girl’s instinctive reflex made her duck, and a super-concentrated magic bullet passed over head, barely hitting her by half an inch. It was so unexpected Freya had no idea it came from beneath the ruins, and she was startled when she found out who fired the shot.

“Quite nasty the strength you possess, Freya…”

Frieda re-emerged from the rubbles. She was oddly calm, despite her Knight Armour being stripped off its sleeves and shoulder plates. She stared at Freya, long enough to cause her to reassume her stance.

“I cannot believe you could survive the bombardment…” Freya snarled.

Frieda chuckled. “Freya dear, let me show the correct way to handle an opponent.” So saying, she inserted cartridges into Beowulf’s cylindrical magazine, locked and loaded the Gunblade, and pointed to Freya. “Beowulf.”

Rvs stands for Reservist, and it's meant to differentiate between regular standing personnel and the weekend warriors. All Reservists have the same ranks as the regulars, but they have a (Rvs) tag as seen in the memo.

And An Hero, could you read that memo too? One of your character concepts has been used, but I dunno if it flies in the face of her profile. It's supposed to foreshadow some sinister elements within the Regional Guard too.

I've been struggling with the RG's concept ever since Regius called the Church "peace-addled" and we all know my characterization of the Church has been anything but! What do you guys think? Does this make the RG's existence in line with canon?

Background:
He appeared in MC 0064, with the assassination of a Lieutenant General in the Ground Forces inside the capital. They found the mages....or what was left of them on the ground. They had been cut up into pieces, and there was no evidence of physical cuts. That wasn't the last time he struck though. Over the next 3 years, he systematically assassinated targets, mostly people involved with the Army's secret project. Mages who were sent against him were decimated and the few that survived and weren't psychologically affected heard his name: Nil. They also gave him a name, the Dark Lord of Nothingness, for his tendency to show no emotion, no pain, and barely any words as he cut through groups of mages. He was always with another person, one that was named Sion. Together, they were almost unbeatable. Getting desperate, Command decided to cast a trap for both of them, using a mix of experienced and inexperienced mages. This included the 216th Special Combat Unit's Sky Squad, several Navy personnel, such as Chrono Haralown, and some new mages that had potential, including Hayate Yagami, Nanoha Takamachi, and Fate Haralown. They met in a wooded area on MC 0067. At first, Nil and Sion had the advantage, killing some and severely wounding others. Soon, though, the advantage turned to the TSAB's side. and Nil gave Sion the order to retreat. Reluctant and enraged at first, Sion eventually left, leaving Nil to fight alone. As the battle raged on, Chrono and Hayate were left, Nanoha and Fate leaving to get Sion. They soon fought, and Nil, Yagami, and Haralown were severely injured. Preparing for a final strike, Chrono managed to land a Stinger Snipe on Nil's Linker Core while an explosion aimed apparently at everyone hit all of them. Nil was found to be in a comatose state, barely alive, and was captured.

Personality:
He was a cold individual, not responding to emotions or pain. He rarely spoke, only to the enemies he was about to decimate, and to give orders to Sion, his partner. He kept this throughout his time attacking the TSAB, without any signs of changing. In fact, anyone could say that he had no remorse for other people he killed. He seemed to be following orders, though, for someone else, although it is not known who. There have been therories, and one of them is that Jail Scagletti is Nil's employer or even a project of his, due to the Barrier Jacket Nil had that
slightly matches the Numbers' own suits. This, like all theories, is unproven.

Device:
He had a Dual Device of sorts, still unknown, that he used effectively. His Device's main form was a katana-wakizashi combination, although he had other forms for it, like a nodachi and twin kodachis. His secondary system resembles a USAS-12, used by him for either escaping or for execution shots. Other than that, anything else about it is unknown.


Fighting Style:
His fighting style was an aggressive and quick style. He would always use spells to cut down enemies, and finish off others with his attacks. He apparently knew a lot of styles of sword fighting, and he kept on switching them in battle to confuse any potential opponents. He was very skilled, even to the point that he switched his weapons on both of his hands during fighting. He always fought with surprises, whether with spells that he hadn't shown in previous battles, or items such as conventional weapons that he carried.


Barrier Jacket:
His Barrier Jacket is reminiscient of the Numbers' suits, except that it was in a matte black and some parts were upgraded for more protection. On the collar, there was a "0" on it, fitting

of his name.

Falcon's Eye: An upgraded form of Eagle's Eye, this let the user to "predict" other's attacks, using magic to react faster than them, and to enhance seeing while in Mach Move. All the weaknesses of Eagle's Eye are not apparent.

Erschütterung Rand (Vibration Edge): This spell modifies a Device's blade by using small ultrasonic generators inside the Device itself to vibrate the edges very fast, which makes it easier for the user to cut through objects. With a bit of magic covering the edges, they can also cut through AMF fields, albeit for a short time, as the blade only disrupts the AMF field, not destroying it. Nil's variation is that the edge glows black. He also doesn't need cartridges to activate it.

Movement:

Mach Move: Contrary to the name, the user does NOT go at supersonic speeds. It is a variation of Sonic Move where the user goes at extremely high speeds, so fast that the normal eye cannot track the user at all; all they see is a blur . The effect also lasts longer, but is even more draining than Sonic Move. Nil's variation can make afterimages by will.

Trapar Wave Flight: Using electromagnetic energy, wind, and reflective films under the shoes that gather magical energy, the user is able to fly through the skies using this spell. It leaves almost no trace, save for a slight distortion of the wind, and is useful for stealth missions. Nil's variation is that he also can make small sonic booms at will.

Offensive:
Burst Shooter: Similar to Accel Shooter, but shoots eight extremely high-speed magic missiles, fired from the eight points of the Ustio octagon. Nil can fire these faster than others, and the missiles impede themselves on the target and explode.

Breac Wave Breaker: Using 2 cartridges, this spell collects magical energy in a wave. Aside from that, it is not that different from the Sioric Wave Buster except it's more powerful. It is much slower to fire than other similar working spells. Nil's variation cuts the casting time and firing time in half.

Schwallfaust (Barrage Fist): Nil does a combination of punches with the power of Haubitzefaust, ensuring that if they don't die when he's done with it, he can kill them later.

Bloody Dagger: The same spell used by Reinforce, with some alterations. Nil's can hit faster and go longer, and he can cast it in a full circle. Uses 1 cartridge.

Prop Chopper: Nil, when he changes his blade to a nodachi, spins it around, making quick work of people close to him.

Sonic Blast: When Nil's Device takes the form of two kodachis, he can use wind to make a sonic blast that can cut through anyone.

Swords of the Dark Sky:It is similar to Satoshi's spell "Swords of the Azure Sky", except that all of the swords are cast, and the swords are a dark red. Uses 3 cartridges.

Spears of Thermopylae: Nil casts 100 spears 3 times, and launches them. They can only go in one direction, but when used on a group, it can potentially impale the whole group. Uses 2 cartridges.

Gale Saber: The same spell as Satoshi's Gale Saber, Nil wraps his Device's blade with wind, increasing the attack range a bit. It can also be thrown, and it gets faster the more distance there is between him and the target. Nil's variation is that the wind is easily found, but does more damage.

Gale Javelin: Nil makes 4 javelin-shaped projectiles that he throws. It could only go in a parabolic angle, but the projectiles are guided by him and can be used to attack from above. He could also multiply the javelins to a maximum of 16 by cutting down the power of each individual projectile by half and to a fourth.

Sturmwind (Storm Wind): Nil sends out four wind blades. Particles in the wind blades, ionized by magic, shocks enemies and machines alike when touched. They can also chain together to make a line of static electricity.

Feuersturm (Fire Storm): Nil spins in the air, putting fire on his blades, and shooting them in all directions. Uses 1 cartridge.

Plasma Drill: Nil spins in the air with his blades on the front, charge with electricity. Anyone unlucky to get in its way is shocked severely.

Eis-Regen (Ice Rain): Nil, in his Device's secondary form, shoots a lot of ice shards and guides them to rain on the target.

Eiskanone (Ice Cannon): Nil makes a huge shard of ice, targeted at a group or larget target and fires. The shard then breaks up into a enormous amount of pieces. Uses 2 cartridges.

Ice Age:Nil makes a circular barrier of ice around him, then shatters it, creating ice shards in every direction. He can also burst the barrier and reform it to make a spiked barrier.

Northern Cross: Nil makes a bird-shaped arrow of electricity that grows by distance, and is able to knock out communications in its wake. Uses 3 cartridges.

Razgriz: Nil sends out a multitude of jet black arrow-shaped projectiles that cover a wide area and go a long distance, about 50-85 kilometers. Uses 4 cartridges.

Star Forge: Nil's ultimate attack, he becomes a factory of deadly magical projectiles by collecting magical energy from the surrounding area with speed and using it to fuel his own magical reserves, while Nil shoots out small, fast projectiles in the area very quickly. Due to the immense amount of magical energy, Nil can only use this for 5 seconds, but the damage done is more than enough. Uses 6 cartridges.

Defensive:
Variable Shield: Same as Satoshi and Alexi's spell of the same name.

Vanguard: Nil can send out Variable Shields about 10 feet away from him. He can even cast them without putting his hand out to make them i.e. he can cast six shields to protect himself while his two hands are busy.

Sturmgeist (Storm Spirit): Similar to Panzergeist, Nil makes an defensive aura of dark red electricity. Uses 1 cartridge.

Focal Break: Same as Satoshi's Focal Break.

Kreuzverriegelung (Cross Catch): Nil forms his arms in a cross pattern, and he can catch projectiles with it.

Binds:
Schattenbindung (Shadow Bind): Nil has the ability to bind targets with shadows. Unlike Satoshi's and Alexi's form, Nil can bind and hold a target without relying on how much shadow there is.

Whilrwind Bind: Not a bind per se, but Nil makes a whirlwind that contains a target. It also slowly damages them.

-It is rumored that Nil is dead, due to information about him either gone or top secret.
-It is also rumored that Nil and Satoshi Kazukuni, the leader of Sky Squad, 216th Special Combat Unit, are the same person due to their looks, their magic style, and the apparent similarities and even same magic spells. It could also be a set of extremely similar circumstances...

At least he's either dead, or out of action... to be able to hold some of the more powerful Aces in a direct battle is scary Like how he seems multi-elemental, having Wind, Electric, Fire and Ice attacks.

And strange for you to mention the USAS-12, having seen one up close in all its glory only a couple of days ago (quite the large weapon I tell you ). Automatic Shotgun FTW!

Today I’ve uncovered an unusual anomaly in one of Galatea’s fragment programs residing inside Asuka. I detected this anomaly right after we finished our mock battle with Glock and the Line Bakas, which ended in a draw due to time limit.

One of the more recent program fragments recovered by the recompilation program displayed an unusual reaction at around 1510 Hours, only a few minutes before our mock battle. I’m not sure what it reacted to, but none of us felt it at the time, even in Possession, due to its incredibly small and insignificant signature. It was only later while running Asuka’s recompilation program that I discovered the fragment and its reaction.

Another reaction took place once I isolated the fragment from Asuka and placed it with the other recovered fragments of Galatea’s program. This action somehow activated many of the program fragments we’ve previously recovered, using a specific marker program present in all of the programs that we’ve never seen before. The effect was an automatic reformation of a much larger program. To my surprise, the newly assembled program was actually Galatea’s emotional subroutines, which I quickly determined by its makeup, which was similar to the programs I used for my children. Though hopelessly missing some more aspects of its program, there were enough fragments of the subroutine to allow for the creation and expression of key AI emotions.

While it feels strange trying to determine an emotion based on bytes of electronic signals alone, my initial analysis pointed to an emotion unusual for a mere program fragment, based on similar patterns from my children.

Long story short, Galatea felt surprised… then relieved.

This reaction is strange, considering that there are no memory or sensory cores from which these isolated fragments could draw stimuli on to create such emotions, especially not emotional patterns this complex. It leads me to believe that it was an external program that initiated these reactions, that somehow interfaced with Galatea’s fragments.

While I cannot rule out the possibility of a remote activation, my first instinct would be to consider the devices that I was nearest to during the time of the first reaction. These would be the Smith and Wesson’s Linebacker devices, and Mai Enna’s Astaroth. I’ve ruled out Glock’s Sophia as a possible culprit, since no prior reactions have been associated with his device before. I am leaning more towards the Linebackers though, due to the appearance of the AI hologram Lina.

I don’t wish to tell Asuka about this development at this time, as she might misinterpret these findings as a possibility of Galatea being reawakened, which despite any optimism is simply not possible given the extensive loss of data. I will continue to investigate this matter, and its implications for Asuka, if any.

I admit, I’ve never seen him sleep so peacefully. He’d have this serious expression on his face, either that or he was always in some nightmare I didn’t know about. To see him without worry…I wonder… what bothered you back then? Shinobu? Mai? The Necrons? Me?
