Uh, well, personally? I'm waiting for ADV to release the DVDs in the USA, whenever that may be, and just hope that they include all the extras that came with the Japanese versions (minus perhaps the drama CD that came with Limited Edition DVD 5, but I've already heard that, so). I'm gonna have to wait longer, but it'll much cheaper overall. Besides, I can't play Japanese DVDs on my DVD player.

its really tempting man, I just dont know what would be better. There are no guarantees of what is going to happen regarding the DVD sets, and who knows if those Limited Editions will even be done again? Its a tough choice...i hate choices -_-

can someone tell me what this anime is like.....I'm like one of the few who hasn't seen it.
I've heard it's quite a hoot...but I dont like the gundam series and i've heard of it as somewhat similar..... but then again some people say it's totally opposite. and what about the fan-service. Im not much one for ecchi or OVERLY excessive fan-service. but I hear this anime has "just the right amount" so.......lies?truth.......is what i've heard wrong? anyone else care to elaborate more? (i ask for honest opinions later on since everyone was like crazy about this anime for a long time) |

The fanservice isn't overly excessive either. It's mostly just Yoko... Watch this show. |

lol true....
from what i've seen in screenshots it seems more the type of ZOMG Yuko's hawt lets zoom in. ok more action and explosions and pointing at random things Btw finally saw the ending. Whuts the deal with Viral..i saw his dream sequence in ep 26 (made me BAWWW) and is that his family? i guess....? he seemed to turn out to be a good guy in the end. pretty cool they made him like a secondary main character! Hi there. Quick question:
What does "Lagann" mean? I took "Gurren" to be equivalent to "guren", which means red or crimson, which makes a lot of sense, actually. Given that, I figure "Lagann" (or something close to it) also had to have some meaning. Thanks. |

Tengen Toppa, 天元突破: Literally means 'breaking through the heavens'. I'm sure you have guessed its something along these lines, ever since Kamina said that Simon is the drill that will pierce the heavens.

Recently Gainax revealed what I see to be the real meaning of the title with the movie titles, 紅蓮篇(guren hen) and 螺巌篇(ragan hen) 紅蓮 : means crimson lotus. 螺巌 : 螺(ra) means spiral/screw, 巌(gan) means mountain/large rock Of course these are just movie titles, I think that the creators of Gurren Lagann intended it to have multiple meanings, puns if you will. Example: 愚連(guren) means tough gang |

Normally that would seem unbelievable but this is spiral energy we are talking about. Also they are already in a universe that has been created by the antispiral and they are fighting a god who can use Schrodinger warps and alter probablility. The whole 10 million light years is just used to explain how they are throwing GALAXIES as Shruiken. Its Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Laws of physics do not apply. Spiral Energy does all the work. |

Since its talking about size and Getter Emperor is in the quote.
Firstly yes, TTGL is 10million light years tall, its straight from the fanbooks. The exact number is 10^25 metres tall, which is 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 metres tall. Getter Emperor on the other hand never had a measured size, all but 1 frame in the manga. Which the humongous monstrosity is shown emerging from the middle of a galaxy up till waist height and its arm span is larger than that galaxy. But theoretically, if it can be theoretical, both intergalatic giants are unlimted in size. TTGL or I should say Lagann is as large as you can gather Spiral Energy. Getter Emperor is as large as there is Getter Rays. These guys would both share the largest manifestations of mass in the universe until GAINAX can bring us out of this universe.
