Saw this link posted in a blog site yesterday and I though you guys would find it interesting.

I'm speechless. Amazing to see how KyoAni really went to such great lenghts to make it as detailed as possible. Seriously, its uncannily like mirror images. Wow. :0

You can say that again. I wouldn't be surprised if a dude that looks like Kyon actually lives in that area.

Actually if you look at a *lot* of anime, you'll find they use real locations for most of their work. Honey & Clover, AIR, Ai Yori Aoshi, Love Hina, Kamichu! .... I think a lot of these animators are closet architectural artists

AIR is where I first really noticed this technique but someone has a website comparing Kamichu's little town to the real location and its just amazing to compare the entire town to the animated version. I suppose one could say its actually laziness: we'll go to a town, photograph the hell out of it and use it without modification for our story. ... the net result is a lot more realism and belief factor though.

And some shows need as much believability as they can get, so, upgrade

@_@ wow he looks like Kyon a little bit...and that art is pretty impressive...I know in animes they base it off real places but considering the consistent quality of the entire show that earns some real well-deserved kudos.

i was thinking of maybe doing an Eva parody, though i'd like to put mikuru as asuka since she resembles to her more than haruhi; plus it's a nice opposite, which kyon has over shinji personality wise lol.. if haruhi put on a pair of sunglasses and played role of shinji's father, that would be hilarious xD

I believe I posted a second parody image that's a little more subtle, in that you may have to be familiar with the artist and his particular obsessions to get it. I believe the second image in the third row is actually Ciel from Shingetsutan Tsukihime cosplaying Yuki.
