Plot Summary:

Nagasumi is saved from drowning by a mermaid, but complications arise due to the mermaid law of having to execute any human who have seen their true forms. The only solution is to marry her and as a result, his life will never be normal again.

[Start of Personal Thoughts]

I was very surprised to find out that there was no discussion thread for Seto no Hanayome. It has been a real gem to me and I have yet to fail to laugh at any of the chapters.

Additionally, the art has been a sight to behold, and the mangaka's varying styles to depict the character's mood is often amusing in its' own right. From chibi-mode to realistic-mode.

Are there not many people reading it?

Yes, I started this week. I was really interested in the anime when I learned about it. Seeing that no subbers picked it up I tried the manga and am very pleased I did.

The humour is classic but still excellent and the characters very lovable.

Nagasumi is quite a little bit TOO persecuted, luckily his wife is there for some support.

Not a big fan of Saru nor of Luna (for now). I like Nagasumi/Maki's interactions in the city (I hated Maki at first).

I think Nagasumi is doing his leg protector really well, but it's still too risky to have San not found out in less than a week...

Hoping for a sub for the anime now. (Is there a problem with anime using Kansai-ben? I don't see any group for Lovely Complex either)

I just finished the anime, but I found out the manga was still on going. If anyone reads and manga and finished the anime, what chapter or volume should I start off in the manga (because I don't want to have anything repeated).

I have only read the english translated chapters released recently. Liking what I have read so far since the comedy's great as expected from the original manga material.

Confirmed: Jun 2010 Issue of Gan Gan Joker has Wave (chapter) 70.

Not-so-confirmed: There's an color page insert in the same magazine which suggests that chapters 68 and 69 MAY be online at the Gan Gan Joker website. [I can not confirm as I can't read enough Japanese to be certain that's what it's saying . . .]

[UPDATE]: Semi-Confirmed: Found Chapters 68 and 69 raw on Gangan Online web site (not the Gan Gan Joker website).

Wow . . .

It looks like the author has "pulled the trigger" on one of the manga's remaining major plot-point/secrets.

[Keeping it non-spoilerish: It's something we the audience have known, but not some of the characters . . . until now. And it's something not seen in the anime.]

Story payoff to follow

. . . though I might not be surprised if the resolution is "teased out" a bit.

The November 2010 issue of Gan Gan Joker appears to have the climax of the manga series.

It's a similar idea to the anime, but with enough differences that--if they wanted to--they could animate it. [I doubt they will though; no one has followed through with additional OVAs beyond the first four.]

No spoilers save to say that another thing the readers and anime watchers have wanted to see has finally happened . . .

So, it remains to be seen how long the denoument/epilogue is before the story concludes. I'm hoping for at least two or so, as there are a lot of characters to say "Goodbye" to. ( Yeah, this could easily done in one pannel for each, but still . . . ).

I'd also like to see some of the actual fallout/consequences from the events from the past few chapters--namely for our lead characters (Sun and Nagasumi) and perhaps Mawari [the character most likely to pass Judgement on the leads from the human/law perspective, who knew Nagasumi from childhood, etc.]. The others you can guess from the lead-up to the climax (IMHO).

Then again, one "forget everything that's happened in the last 24 hours" potion, and everything may be "reset."

[Just kidding, I hope!]

Volume 14 ended at chapter 65 and from the looks of it alot must have happened in those last five chapters. Since I can't understand it, but towards the end of the volume is that...

[That is, unless the last two pages have hinted as some surprise . . . which I doubt.]

Most of the characters get their page or two of "farewells" and resolutions, though plenty of ongoing character mayhem (which we won't see paid off after this chapter) remains.

And, best as I can tell, a couple more things people have wanted to see has happened.

Though it was mostly comedy with little development of characters. But, hey, it was funny, which is this manga's strongest point. -- Main developments: -Mawari says her dad wants her to go to a private school for high school instead of a public school, which would result in her moving away somewhere else. When she asks Nagasumi for his opinion, he also agrees that he thinks she should go to the private school. I wonder if this is a "drops out of competition for Nagasumi" flag... Then again, I wonder if the manga plans to go through the high school years. -Maki and Fuki become... Human sized!! Maki used some technique to become human-sized so she can marry Nagasumi to save San from having to marry him. Fuki uses it to save Maruko, who plans to marry Nagasumi to save San, from having to marry him... Maki also tries to go to school, but gets kicked out real soon. Without any other human outfits, she ends up wearing the school uniform commonly. -- Lesser, more pointless developments: -During the fight in the Zero class, when Nagasumi defeated Tenouzan, Akeno kind of fell for his manliness... -Mawari's misunderstanding that Akeno is a lesbian increases... In this volume: 1.Akeno and San try to go into the pool and try to keep their feet from turning into tails... Needless to say, they started getting red in the face and making strange sounds... 2.When Mawari came to Nagasumi's house, Maki accidentally came out. Akeno distracts Mawari while the others hide Maki away, but... Akeno pretty much pushes Mawari down on the ground... -Nagasumi's mom is the "Karuta Emperor"! -- Some of my favorite moments (funny-wise): -When Nagasumi attacks Tenouzan with a chikuwa, Tenouzan pulls out a bazooka launcher. -When Luna Papa transfers into Gouzaburou's class and sits in Nagasumi's seat. He wears the sailor uniform, causing Luna to go crazy and pulverize him. -When everyone (Maki, Fuki, Satori, Akeno, Luna, Masa) started asking Nagasumi to marry him, San keeps on going "All I can do is believe in Nagasumi-san.", but her words slowly turn into katakana and finally, she faints when Maruko appears and says she came to ask Nagasumi to marry her. -- In the next volume...
