Well I didn't start crying until I read what Isako said to Yasako in part two (words can add a lot).

I guess we can assume the person at the beginning of episode 22 was Isako. Although I am not giving up on Isako yet. I am going to be confident that Yasako is going to save her and bridge that distance. Because I have faith in Yasako and the fact that this is supposed to be a kid's show.

And what's more, when Fumie was telling Tamako what happened, it became "he's about to piss his pants" -> "he pissed his pants". Uh okay. :x No wonder Tamako had such an expression thinking he'd really have done it...

Nice episode 23, it brings some answers as well as some new questions at the same time.

Anyway, episode 24 is going to set up for the final climax (25 & 26). And, yes, we're going to see the beautiful legs of Tamako according to the preview.

I hope to see a return of Haraken and Fumie to action.

oh how i "hate" being "right"!

the dialog about the original tech that turned into glasses are more or less as i predicted.

still, anyone being any kind of interested in cyberpunk could probably see it coming a mile or more away

also, given that they bring in quantum computers its up there with nanotech in the science as magic department.

all in all, that little bit alone sums up most of the unexplained phenomena in the whole series.

Daichi is KING of comedy! He was so d*mned hilarious I just couldn't stop laughing, and when the two cubes crashed against each other I fell off my chair!

Happy note aside (and lots of explanations that I almost lost the meaning of at some point) I'm WELL Depressed about Isako and Densuke!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know everyone else is so calm when posting. For a girl like Isako who just talks about facts she's saying a lot about emotions in this one! (AWW!) and Densuke was so BRAVE! *hug hug hug dog*

I don't know where I want to banish Nekome too, but he is such a TURD that he definitely does NOT deserve to be anywhere on planet earth, just thinking about it now makes me SO annoyed! *biatchslap Nekome* Perhaps now is not a good time to post things.... I pity Takeru for having such a conniving bas*ard as an older brother.

Anyway, back to 'flick's silly questions time': Isako threatens to destroy the Angou (oven?) within her (bright orange bullet light thing) if Nekome *kicks him* doesn't close the path. I don't quite get what she's doing here but it repels the Nulls?

Also, presumably Nekome wanted to get to the other side as well - I read that he also made a promise with Michiko? - or is this just some live-bait experiment for him to write a thesis to prove the existance of 'the other side'? Even if Isako "lives happily with your brother" the lack of a coils node means that he's not going to be able to tell?
I was actually half hoping that Tamako would chance upon him in his car, and show him who's the daddy (or mummy?)

I wish Isako hadn't run in... could she have backed out of the room or was she feeling too guilty?

And Densuke - what happened??! I'm going to have to rewatch the episode again, but thought I'd ask anyway.

man... Isako's beginning to grow on me. I think I like her as much as I like Yasako now. She's doing everything she can to minimise the damage, even sacrificing herself. Densuke is just so tragic too.... what a brave dog. I think he's dead.

Personally I'd love to see more of Fumie's craziness. If only she could stop running from the facts staring in her face.

yeah, the bit that Isako said about distance between people is so true. I can personally relate to it. If only Yasako could just call Isako her friend rather than her classmate (previous episode as she introduced Isako to her granny).

Wow, today was a very slow-paced episode compared to last week - well, considering the ?!!!!!! events that happened this is the aftermath. The title pretty much describes what's happened to everyone:

Their specs are all taken away. It's kinda realistic how they react and feel like a huge chunk of their life was removed, it reminds me of how my mum would refuse to let me use the computer when I had used it too much....

But this episode also feels a bit odd because it's like you finally see parents coming into the picture when they weren't shown much rpeviously. I guess it's cos most of the show is more from the viewpoint of the kids who normally try to ignore their parents or don't put them in the picture until it comes to the serious bits.

Then of course everyone gets rather emotional and teh depressed... Tamako tries to find out more about Isako, whose links have completely disappeared, but all she manages to get out of her uncle is that Nobuhiko and Isako were involved in an accident when they were moving away (their dad had died and the mom was in hospital). They were unconscious but Isako got revived, however she lost her memories prior to that apparently. But he says he can't tell Tamako what happened to Nobuhiko except "22". Also it was around that time that Yasako's gramps had died (he had treated the both of them) Tamako is prevented from finding out any more...

While I felt the emotions in this episode didn't feel like they got conveyed so well to me (in that Yasako wondering why she was feeling all sad about Densuke but didn't have any tears and blah blah... the conversation felt a tad forced in some places), I did quite like the scene where Yasako was saying she didn't feel sad about Densuke but then thought she heard Densuke's voice and when she followed the voice it turned out to be someone else's real dog and she kind of broke down at the fence...

And her mom is such an NHK-esque character


However, second half brought along some important plot progressions - firstly, Daichi protects the girls with his newly learnt judo techniques after the irritating School #1 kids think Haraken and Yasako eloped because they're both missing from school... okay, that's not a progression. What happened was that Haraken overheard his aunt talking about Kanna (I didn't catch it, must hear it again), and Yasako was being existential in her bed and figured that the sadness she felt for Densuke must really exist blah blah and decided to use her grandpa's old old specs and went to Kanazawa. I think Haraken was going there too, he tried to call Yasako but she hadn't picked up. And it's obivously because of the Kanazawa crossing with the manholes that was featured in the OP...

And at the end if you thought that Mayumi-chan from Kanazawa thing was a minor detail, WELL YOU'RE WRONG. NOBODY EXPECTS THE MAYUMI-CHAN! *trumpet* Yasako has evidently had a very painful fight/relationship with her in the past and when she tries to call Mayumi about the manholes and wanting to meet her, she says how she's forgiven Mayumi and doesn't think Mayumi bullied her but she was just scared of Michiko-san, when said Mayumi comes out behind a tree and says Yasako was really the one bullying her.

So how the hell did Isako really pick up on these hints as welll....?!

I also liked the additional details they showed when Yasako was using her grandpa's specs to access cyberspace, you could see from the OS that it was quite different. But apparently the specs seem to be able to "recognize" bodies or something because Yasako could access her own mail from her gramps' specs, as if her account was with her all that time ro something.


Next episode, looks like we'll see what happened to Yasako back in Kanazawa and Tamako gets into action with sunglasses, LOL. At the end Isako's figure can still be seen though, so her consciousness must still be somewhere... I'm sure she'll come back alive by the end!!

My English fails today, really... but now I really, really really really want to know how the hell they're going to tie this up in TWO more episodes. SERIOUSLY.

EDIT: oh yeah, there were other details and things that happened aside from what I mentioned up there, but I've gotta go now.

wow o.o; 21-23 were amazing, why cant more anime have this level of intelligent storytelling. I really wish I had the comprehension to read the books... if they are anything like this, it would be a fantastic read.

Now that I've watched ep 24 again I have to say I'm not completely happy with the episode because

I guess I just felt it was kind of contrived that the parents suddenly make a big fuss and turn up until now. Are so many parents in Japan really like that? They show kindness and warmth like Yasako's mum did when she told her that Densuke had died, but don't even tell her off earlier about getting too stuck in the megane world (or rather, don't do anything about it until someone actually gets hurt). I mean come on, her kid was out until ridiculous hours doing megane-related things (remember Denpa's dinosaur thing)... Do they do it mostly because of the bad press and since everyone is taking their specs off?

Also, I wonder why this time the information got so spread out when the same hadn't happened with Kanna's case. I guess it's because this time they couldn't cover it up as a natural accident or something... You'd have thought Megamas would have done more to cover up especially since the incident happened within their own premises; now they'll suffer from some rather bad PR won't they?

Finally I guess I just didn't feel much for some of the talky bits, like when Yasako was talking to Fumie about how she didn't feel like crying for Densuke but felt painful anyway... I dunno, maybe the way it was directed was kind of unnatural or something. Same goes with the scene of Yasako wondering whether what can't be seen is an illusion etc. etc (you can't have an SF series these days without something along these lines). I couldn't really feel how she came to the conclusion to go to Kanazawa. I think she knows Densuke can't be retrieved again, but what about Isako? Didn't she worry about trying to save Isako and what she felt towards Isako just disappearing like that? And although Densuke is definitely an illusion, Isako was a human being... I don't see why she would have said it was all an illusion.... argh, well I just can't see the link between her philosophical musings and then deciding to go to Kanazawa right after that.

Oh yeah, and everything said and done it does feel kinda funny to have Mayumi turn up all of a sudden because it's... well, a new character with only 2 more episodes left. Please don't end on a cliffhanger and leave us with a "The rest is on the OVA ^_^" ending, oh god no...

But to avoid sounding like a wet blanket, well I did like that scene of Yasako realising Densuke is dead after all when she thought she heard Densuke's voice but it was someone else's real dog. It was a good use of misleading because from episode 1 we've seen Yasako being able to hear Densuke's voice via Imago so you'd think she still had the ability to do so even without her specs, but she had discounted the possibility of it being simply another dog bark in the wind...
All the "Virtual BAD! Real GOOD!!" stuff sounded a little irritating at one point, but that's because I'm a hopeless computer addict... There is a real lesson there to be learned and I think it's very relevant to today's kids. I did like the line about how we get sad when pets die, but we never think about how pets would get sad if we died too.

Personally the scenes I enjoyed happened to be the school scenes, it just felt rather real (well fine, I haven't seen anyone use judo techniques in a primary school before but...)

I figure there's no need for a translation or anything because most people got the gist of what happened?

I wonder if dialog at the very beginning of episode 20 about the first body that was prepared was an empty shell devoid of life was refering to Isako or her brother. If so, could either she or perhaps Yasako, or maybe both, really have Michiko inside them.

They showed Haraken logging into his account the time he put Kanna's glasses on, I guess they just skipped that step to save time and hoped noone would notice.

She was trying to save Isako. She finally remembered where she saw the manholes Haraken drew before. Her friend Mayumi found that place in Kanazawa and sent her a picture as proof. It's an old space, that's why Yasako went there. She's looking for a way to save Isako.
I have a hunch, we're going to find out that Coil corp's earliest Imago experiments were done in Kanazawa.

Did anyone come out of watching episode 24 more confused than ever? I certainly did! ^^;

In terms of action, nothing beats the earlier episodes, but I guess they HAD to put something reflective. I also felt it strange that Yasako *only* mentions Densuke rather than Isako (at all) - there is no proof (so far I think) that visiting the crossroad and opening up the path will bring back a dennou pet (maybe I'm wrong but oh well) but a human being('s consciousness) -as shown time and again - can be brought back.

I found the scene where she can't seem to shed tears for Densuke quite realistic though... I'm sure I read somewhere that the first stage (of something) is denial, and then something, then acceptance etc. I'm afraid I can't quite remember the exact order, but on further googling, apparently this is a 'Kübler-Ross grief cycle' that has 7 stages:

Shock, Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Testing, Acceptance

I don't know if Yasako is really going/will be going through the anger phase, but I think it wouldn't be wrong to say she's definitely had the shock and denial stages (and perhaps jumping past depression as well) to reach the 'testing' stage, where she is looking for a solution - aka. those man holes in Kanazawa - for a 'solution'.

I did feel the episode jumped *quite* quickly and I was also at a loss to understand (as has already been pointed out) how Yasako was able to consider the 'crossroad' in the first place. Haraken has an excuse that he overheard Tamako's conversation on the phone (who was she talking to?) but what are/were his intentions - saving Isako as well? I know I shouldn't really say this, but after all that's happened in the previous episodes, I'd kind of forgotten that Haraken is a 'man-of-action' (brain) at times too.

And the introduction of a new character was ZOMG. And we're left with a 'surely it was you who was the bully' (why was Yasako leaving a message for the new girl again?) And yes, I don't know how Isako figured that out either (is this something that will be explained in an OVA) - whilst I love Dennou Coil, I don't REALLY want it to go into Season 2 or OVA at this stage - it means that we'll have to wait (A LONG TIME) for an answer!

And Nekome enters my 'top 3 villains' list. That guy really needs someone to take him to task.

And finally, the strong emphasis on the parents' reaction in this episode was a little unexpected for me as well. Although it was interesting to observe how each parent dealt with the task of confiscating glasses from their children. I'm glad that Daichi learnt something practical though after all this time (probably the ONLY one out of all the kiddies?) and beat the c*ap out of those 1st district bullies. It's great how he saved Fumie without actually rubbing it in everyone's faces... --> Daichi is a fantastic guy It was entertaining stuff either way.

p/s: Yasako's father is also in Kanazawa... hmm.
