But if Goro want's to be a starting pitcher he has to develop more pitches. Maybe something like Randy Johnson is his early days.

Yeah. Rivera is a one pitch pitcher that has defied the odds. I've compared Goro to Randy Johnson before. Two overpowering pitches with a fastball in the upper 90's. Johnson was a freak as well.

I think they're making Goro like Gibson. So he'll probably just use fastballs

wasn't there an old episode where he was amazed gibson just used fastballs? plus the game vs kaido I think someone questioned how far he could go with just one pitch, then he went and proved to him it's all he needs

The basic problem Goro has right now, is the lack of perfect - milimetric - control. If he can reach that level, quite likely he will, then, he may not need any other type of throws. And, the end of last episode showed that he will try to aim for that.

1. Yes, but that was in the All-star Game back in season 1. Do you really think he would do it in a regular season game, which counts.

2. He did do good in that game, but these are the major's. The best baseball players in the world strive to make it to that stage. Not to offend anyone ,but baseball players dream is to win the World Series in America not Japan. The difference in play is great.

thats all true, but it's fantasy right? and not a particularily realistic one

writer emphasized how gibson dominates with just one pitch. Also made a point of having Goro notice this. I dont' think thats a coincidence

I assume Gibson is the final obstacle. And that goro's being setup to surpass him as a pitcher. That most likely means surpassing his fastball. Since it's the main characters 'thing', and has been since the show started

Well, even Gibson does have other pitches in his repertoire - in the All-Star game the catcher did try and get him to throw something else (he of course refused to prove a point to Goro), and the Yokohama Little League coach pointed out that even a great fastball pitcher like Gibson will use other pitches to disrupt a batter's timing and make his fastballs seem even faster. Although to be fair, Gibson is particular about using his fastball against batters he finds challenging.

Goro will probably learn something else at some point down the line- he's already experimented with a changeup and a forkball before.

yeah it was in the middle of season 1. and it's pretty much a fact. you can't succeed as a starter in the majors with just a fastball no matter how good it is. and gibson did what he did with one pitch in the all-star game for 2 innings.

It's in season one when Goro demands a practice game with Yokohama and the coach refuses, but tells him to pitch to Sato once. The coach whispers something in Sato's ear, and Sato is able to crank Goro's pitch deep. Then the coach gives him the speech about what makes batters miss is timing, and all that stuff about even Gibson using curveballs.

Whoa! I finally found this thread!

I like it now that season 4 has started. Can someone however please answer the following question:

- Is Major now aired every week? If so on which day?

I've been watching this years ago. But it stopped all of sudden during season 2 i believe.
