Konami and Davis films agree on film production of popular Silent Hill game.

Konami Corporation (CEO: Kagemasa Kozuki) has teamed with Samuel Hadida and his production company Davis Films Sarl to produce a live feature adaptation of the popular horror adventure videogame Silent Hill.
Samuel Hadida is the prolific producer who brough to the screen True Romance directed by Tony Scott and written by Quentin Tarantino, Brotherhood of the Wolf directed by Christophe Gans, Spider directed by David Cronenberg and other famous films. Konami will participate in the production of the film from script supervision, monsters' design and sound creation to accurately recreating the universal appeal of the game. The Silent Hill horror action game will evolve from the small screen to the big screen.
Christophe Gans, who directed the blockbuster epic Brotherhood of the Wolf as well as Crying Freeman, has been appointed as the director of the Silent Hill movie, "Silent Hill is a groundbreaking game which atmosphere has mesmerized millions of gamers all over the world, it is scary and clever. I am very proud to be associated with this game".
The Silent Hill series (produced by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo, Inc., President: Michihiro Ishizuka) is a horror adventure game set in a town shrouded by fog and darkness, where the player confronts a variety of monsters. Its images have received high acclaim in the North America and European markets, labeled "THE MASTER OF HORROR ADVENTURE" with its total combined sales of over four million copies in Japan, the United States and Europe.
Konami will actively pursue film production of its game content, with the aim to further strengthen the KONAMI brand worldwide.

Production company Davis Films will produce the feature film adaptation of Konami’s popular franchise. Produced by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo (KCET), the Silent Hill games thrust players into a nightmarish world where they must unravel twisted storylines and battle grotesque creatures and terrifying monsters.

Silent Hill is the premiere franchise in the horror videogame genre with over four million copies sold in Japan, the U.S. and Europe. Silent Hill 3 for PlayStation 2 was recently released in August 2003 and is considered to be the best game in the series. With a terrifying narrative, spectacular graphics and a bloodcurdling soundtrack, Silent Hill 3 has already garnered numerous industry accolades and awards.
To further strengthen the Konami brand worldwide, the company is currently pursuing film production deals for its other blockbuster videogame franchises.

Holy shitix, you don't know HOW happy I am. This movie will truly be the greatest horror flim ever if done right! The games scare the shit out of me, I had to stop playing lol and I'm not usually bothered by horror movies (not even Texas Chainsaw or House of 1000 corpses or such). The soundtrack is going to be awesome.
If done right, I'll certainly look forward to it. Earlier I'd heard paul anderson (the guy that ruined resident evil...) was attached to the project but not seeing his name in those articles so hopefully this franchise will be safe. Wonder about the story though, if they make an all new story or try and adapt one of the video games. If they go the adaption route I'd prefer silent hill 1 myself, something about having to find a child caught up in the crazyiness of silent hill made that game stick out for me.
