Anime like Sekire

Looking for anime like where there are strong females who derive or enhance their powers by pairing with a male character or vise versa. Some of good Examples are:

Sekirei & Sekirei : Pure Engagement
Kurokami
Inukami
Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls
Freezing - This is new one looks really promising in this regard.

Please tell me if there are any others

What you're after is the 'Contract' genre I think.

Try Shikabane Hime.

Sora no Otoshimono fits this pretty well. Technically, the girls aren't powered up by having a "master", but their motivations and goals differ, they often display greater power in their desire to protect him or please him, and at least one case is shown where a girl's powers that had been stolen were fully restored when she took a master.

Also, one obvious example where this happens but is not the absolute center of the plot is Negima!

My Hime should fit your description of girls needing "keys" to unlock their powers. Keys.

Rozen maiden could be considered to, in some ways ... since the dolls needed contract to unleash their full powers.

Both have 2 seasons and OVAs to their respective titles, so that should keep you occupied.

Dont worry, I'm not a lolilover either, but I easily find RM creeping into my top 5 series lists.. It is that damn good of a story.

Oh btw.. the most awesomest doll in RM is Suigintou! *waves fanboy flag*

That's why I said "pretty well". It's something that some would like and others not, and it's not an exact fit since the girls don't really have any "boost" in power from contracting, except for one girl who'd been severely crippled and managed to regain her power. I wouldn't call it lame personally, but that's just me. The ecchi is extreme enough to seem completely stupid at times, but I thought the backing material was good, even maybe a bit better than Sekirei, since Sekirei is just a "game" and most characters are relatively free, while in Otoshimono they were fighting for something bigger, and in many cases simply for freedom. Still, that's just me like I said.

Anyway, if HiME fits, then one may include My Otome as well. Particularly the manga, since the anime doesn't have many men.

One anime I haven't seen much of is Shining Tears. Fighters do combat using powerful blades born from the hearts/souls of companions (often female).

Another slight one would be Zero no Tsukaima. Saito's power comes from his being contracted to Louise, and Louise's power is very closely connected to her emotions, so she usually needs Saito's help just to be able to activate them.

One more possibility is Pretear. The heroine obtains her powers by temporarily joining body and soul with one of her knights.


Oh, one other, more tentative: Vandread.

hmm Relax mate I get it you like Heavens Lost Property, But it was not about power boost or anything that guy was pathetic or rather despicable. OK generally male characters are in ecchi anime but inspite of being weak they at least have resolve. Anyways thanks for the detailed reply, I might look into it with an open mind when I run out of anime.
I already seen Zero no Tsukaima and was good, will look into others.... cheers!

I'm not a die-hard fan or anything. And I fully agree, they made Tomoki far too much of a perv. I generally like the idea of a pervert with a heart of gold, but his noble side has to be significant enough to combat the perversion, and it has to appear soon enough that people don't just give up. They made an effort on both counts, but not quite. I'm more into the background, because while I like the Sekirei hero better, I felt that Sora no Otoshimono had a more interesting premise, and a better villain (just look at Nymph's bird).

Also, Dragon Crisis fits this a bit now.

A dragon's true power is awakened through a "ceremony" with a partner called "engagement". It only works if both partners have complete faith in each other. However it's enough to let a baby(almost) dragon and a novice psychic(kinda) soundly pummel a full-grown, bloodthirsty black dragon.

I love vampire stuff but let me correct you in-spite of being a totally awesome anime this doesn't fit the bill at all. All the key factors i mentioned are totally missing.

hmm soul eater it came to my knowledge and it kind of matches the required criteria, but sadly caricature/parody and crappy animation is not my thing.
