Someone streamed the first four episodes a while ago and my impressions are: Japanese dub: 10/10 (after all episodes) Italian dub: 8.5/10 (after one episode) English dub: 5/10 (after four episodes) The problems regarding the English dub mostly are: - Mami: Sounds a little bit too old, fails to subtly deliver Mami's weak side and her emotions. - Homura: Sounds too much like the villain and dramatizing. - Kyubey: Sounds much more emotional than his jap. counter part. I like: - Sayaka's voice and the acting - Kyousuke is not bad - Hitomi's voice actor - Madoka's dad Not sure at the moment: - Kyouko - Madoka I have no major complaints about the Italian dub, but if I have to name some, then they are: - Madoka's voice acting (or is it the voice?) is a little bit underwhelming - Kyubey like in the English version sounds more dramatic than his Japanese counter part. But this problem is reduced by the fact that Italian is a very "emotional" language, hence it's more fitting. |

The saddest time in my life XD
Washington State Convention and Trade Center April 6-8. The Producer of the hit anime series "Puella Magi Madoka Magica," Atsuhiro Iwakami travels from Japan to present his latest works at Sakura-con 2012. In addition to "Madoka Magica," Iwakami has worked on many hit Aniplex titles including "the Garden of Sinners", "Bakemonogatari", "Oreimo", "Kannagi" just to name a few. He is currently working on the new series "Fate/Zero" which premiered this past October in Japan. Gen Urobuchi is a Japanese writer for visual novels, light novels, and anime. He joined Nitroplus as a writer and made his debut in 2001 by writing the scenario of the visual novel Phantom of Inferno, which was later adapted into a TV series and OVA series. Afterward Gen Urobuchi wrote the light novel Fate/Zero in 2006, the prequel to Fate/Stay Night, which was a collaboration between Type-Moon and fellow developer Nitroplus. Gen is also the screenplay writer for Puella Magi Madoka Magica (2011), a production of Aniplex (under Atsuhiro Iwakami as main producer) and studio SHAFT. Who's coming to Sakuracon? I'll pay him/her anything to have my box autographed a second time XD

More to do with Madoka Magica than K-On...
Couldn't bear to throw this in either image thread. It's a random short I put together regarding voice actress references.

I have to say I really, really adore Hitomi's voice. It shows her Yamato Nadeshiko character even better than the original Jap version (surprise surprise) due to how crisp and echoey it is as compared to Madoka/Sayaka's. I was pretty good with Sayaka's voice too. Didn't like much of Madoka's or Mami's, though.

Comparison of other places: Taiwan, Korea, Australia, Germany, Italy, USA
I'd peg it at $300 XD (only guessing how much it would be). $500 if I get every one (Iwakami, Urobochi, Shinbo, the 5 voice actresses, Inu Curry, and the current ones on the picture I posted).
