the series seems to be not that heavy in the drama depratment for it to actually to be a romance tragedy in the near future... though he seems to react more to Seika than the girls... making his rom com really wrong...

I see. This definitely sounds like a welcome relief to the cookie-cutter dime-a-dozen harem-ecchi series out there proliferating the market. I like it when a series explores the interaction between different personalities and ideals and comes out with results that come close to how they actually would in real life, and not just male lead self-insert fantasy gratification pandering.

One more question, if you LN readers wouldn't mind me asking: does it get overly dramatic, or does it stay fairly rational? I'm not one to complain about drama (especially when they make sense, comes off as engaging and pivotal to character development) but I'm not too fond of drama that makes mountains out of molehills, or are arbitrary and cliched.

I think I can accept if the author doesn't give a conclusion for the romance. From the summary it seems that it focuses more on character's development and doesn't stray the plotline where he's supposed to be cynical loner.

Though I'll be more glad if he'll end up with someone at the end

On another note, I'm having trouble thinking what to write about the characters in the Wikipedia article. Anyone care to help?
EDIT: I realized what was different about this series compared to others when writing about the characters. The character development, especially for the main characters, are really spread out. Most of the volumes somewhat focuses on a side character and therefore made it easier to write about the side characters, but troubling to pick up what changed about the main characters.

Its rational within a certain degree - I mean, Hachiman is somewhat unique. A lot of problems Hachiman faces are pretty realistic (it is one of the reason why I recommend to try v4: where the "problem" is a middle school girl who is also a loner).

I think one of the reason why people like the LN is that they can relate to Hachiman's character, and also some the problems you may or may not have experienced in your life.

Once again, much thanks for the response. Non-generic lead with a Nietzsche-ish philosophy plus all that other stuff makes this curiously intriguing enough for me to pick up now. I'll probably purchase this series sometime in the future, but color me very intrigued.

You know I always like left field pairings they tend to be "fun" imo but I can also like the straightforward stuff as well.
I mean a HachimanXShizuka would be my left field pairing, more so than the trap
