One little thing I coudln't help chuckling at upon rewatching the episode was how in-sync Steph was with the flower growing out of her head. Blinking with her and even mirroring expressions

well, that was disappointing, I knew they were trying to make it fun but it didn't work for me.

maybe because I was expecting one of those 3D chess games like the first episodes of code geass or the entire exchange in death note, but what we got instead was a crying chess piece.

NGNL runs more on mind games and Rule of Awesome then complex logic puzzles. any form of rules will be bent into a rather nice origami figurine depicting the entire run of Jojo.

I regret I have say that, but game in this episode actualy WASN'T chess. It's different into point that it shouldn't be evencompared.

I have to admit that name of game could mislead some people

I can't recall, but did anyone besides Sora/Shiro actually call it Chess? Could be like card games, where they thought they were playing X, but were actually playing Y, just because of the similar pieces, setup, roles, etc.

this episode is so hilarious! the "logic" makes sense. If brainwashing is allowed, why not "true" brainwashing using persuasive methods?

I totally forgot how crazy these games got and why I fell in love with them. But the extra shoutouts to other franchises like Phoenix Wright and Jojo is just icing to the cake. Gave me chills when he swticed from Chess to Age of Empires ROTFL.

Yes, but that's not what I was pointing out at all. The complaint was that it wasn't chess, and I asked if anyone other than those two actually called it that. Just because they realized later that it wasn't doesn't negate that it was thought by them to be chess early on.

Sora is shaping up to be the best MC ever. Without him this show wouldn't be nearly as entertaining as it is, especially in a season with JoJo in the lineup.

Madhouse should just go nuts with this show and have Sora play everything. Karuta in this crazy world would be hype

Just a quick correction there, the MC is Shiro and Sora together, as in [ ] is the MC.

They are both the protags, but the the anime & Ln tends to follow Sora's PoV. Therefore making him the defacto MC or at least the central one.

He also has the most dialogue in all mediums. Shiro is more for advertising purposes...lol She only ever gets important when a game is involved & Sora still covers the dialogue for the games & the game is seen from his PoV.

Certainly looks to me that Sora is the MC. Shiro's just there to look cute, crunch the numbers, and occasionally give Mr. Steam something to do. ^_^
