Considering her design and emotionless-looking expression, it's more likely she's going to be the quiet, "emotionless" type.
Combine that with who's voicing her; Misato Fukuen, famous for the quiet, "emotionless" characters Yin of Darker than Black, Eve of Black Cat, and Golden Darkness of ToLoveRu.

No romanizations/localizations have been confirmed yet.

I'm curious to see how she'll turn out. Certainly could be a more emotionless type, but at the same time seems to like to troll people so might show more emotion than we might think. Certainly her VA has the range to go either way. Has gone from those emotionless types to more emotional characters like Hime from Yozakura Quartet, Yoshika from Strike Witches, etc.

May tie into development as well where she gets more expressive as the game goes along.

Is she supposed to be the semi-old character, ala Judith, Raine, and Alvin?

Well her summary portrays her as a mentor figure for Slay, and says she's an "adult woman," so I think she probably is .

But she's looking for a "Fon Master?" Is that supposed to be just a shout-out to Abyss or something more...?

The tagline for Zestiria will be:"Tradition will one day become 'hope.'"

In other words, the de-facto "fun" character of the game? Can't wait to see what becomes of that "crazy personality" they mention.

With the exception of Judith, that does seem to be their role. Add in Pascal, and the only outlier is Judith, who is kind of crazy, but doesn't fit the role like Rita does. Hadn't thought of that before haha.

He's the old character. And he isn't nearly as crazy as Rita.

I laughed when I read the genre description for Zestiria

"Passion Illuminates the World RPG"

Well, not as awesome as Destiny 2's tagline but still hilarious enough

For plot, yeah, but I'm talking archetype and personality.

There's always an old, a semi-old, and either a loli or a shota. At least since Abyss and Symphonia. Not sure about Destiny.

in Destiny, the old character(or characters) would probably be the Swordians(especially Clemente). If you only consider the party members, then Garr's pretty much the oldest character there. Chelsea would be the loli. Semi old's not really an archetype IMO.

anyway, as far as archetypes and cliches are concerned, there are a lot. But not all of 'em are used in every tales. But there are cliches that are commonly used, like the Mascot, the Smart one and the Traitor

It's because games like this are still being released on the PS3 is why there's no reason to upgrade to a PS4 in the forseeable future

Sure it is, I just used a bad term for it. Would you prefer it be called the "onee-san" or "onii-san" archetype? Not old enough to be deemed "old", but semi-old (compared to the MC) to make them not just another character in their age range.

Note, actual familial relation or reliability not a guarantee.

I find it to be really colorful and connecting. It reminds me of Dwarven Vow #134 to some extent. I personally like it but that's just me though.

Can talking pets or creatures owned by a protagonist or one of the party members be a part of this archetype?

On Gematsu they also mentioned something about a "marriage contract" with Slay.

Character designs have a chinese touch to them. Looks nice, but neither of the girls look nearly as unique and sexy as mah Judith. :X
