I think it is me because I felt that Louise's physical punishments to Saito were not that violent enough; so far it is the whip, the nutcracker kick , and the foot on his face.
Anyways, Saito's very witty to come at any timing to sarcastically tease and being boldly defiant of Louise or simply to complain about her orders.

Of course, Louise was red burning because of Saito's big mouth and earned him a food shortage and comfy sleep deprivation; if wasn't for Siesta, then Saito would have starved. So, having admirers among the castle commoner's, Saito's has now safeguard to circumvent Louise's punishments when it comes with food.

Kirche's highly promiscuous and gets the job done when pulling the strings of seductions; more fun about "big and small assets" jokes.

I believe with all the skirmish between the de la Valiel and Zilperstone families, Saito will have a hand on desisting the rivalry between Kirche and Louise but as it concerns family feuds, yet those two will continue to be girl rivals.

The way this thread (and show!) is gaining steam, I'm starting to think that AnimeSuki may be in the awkward position of having demand for a show-specific board of a show they aren't allowed to distribute Torrents for...

... I know I'm one of those folks wanting a show-specific board.

I've only seen Ep.1 so far, I'll post a thorough reaction once I get 2 and 3.

I've noticed a trend towards Ice Cold Tsundere (sometimes slightly psychotic and cruel) girls in recent anime, which is a change from the traditional submissive type, for the better right now, but I can see it getting old quickly. I've always been wary of loli characters, don't know if this show has one, because they always seem to be hiding some killing intent, but now the cats out of the bag and the anime girls are after your soul, time to run for the hills mates.

As far as first 3 episodes of each show are concerned, I agree with you. But it is still too early to compare them as a whole - we just passed a 1/4 of ZnT, it can get better (or worse).

How many did Saito manage to kill before he died, and who was the one who rescued Saito after he was revived and controlled by Derflinger again?

Also: spoil me by PM or by spoiler tags, but just how exactly does Siesta get to develop her character?

And how many girls fall for Saito over the course of the novel? I've heard 8.

Man, this show (or novel) is like a Fate/Stay Night - Shakugan no Shana hybrid. Not that I'm complaining!

episode 4 seems to be the first major departure from the novel series, and from here out I suppose I cannot easily expect to predict what will happen in each show.

Spoiler:

There were no summoned porno mags in the novels nor commoner sex slaves, at least not through volume 5. Honestly Im not sure why they introduced this mini-arc at all, it didnt do anything for me. (I highly doubt the same events could happen after book 5 either)

I guess they had to compress alot of siesta into one episode, because of the short 13 ep schedule. Its really sad though, because there were some truly awesome siesta scenes that would have been amazing if animated.

Whenever anime directors go off of the creator's storyline and start writing their own, you can always tell there is a quality drop. (much like the filler arcs of naruto and bleach, both shows down the tubes) At least there is precedence for things being summoned from saito's world (such as himself), so it wasnt savagely out of character with the rest of the story.

That said, I think they could have given more of a hint as to why the shiny sword kyuruke bought didnt work- i rather prefer the way that was handled in the novels. (worked as a weapon but broken on the first hit )

I also dont like the way Ruizu was the one to save his bacon: at this stage in the books she's not really capable of that, and tabasa would more likely have been the one to save him.

Ruizu's punishments are going to be a bit repetitive as a theme, but the novel was the same way. (The sheer number of times she kicks in the rocks is in human)

Anyways, I can't say I like the way they are steering the show. I'll keep watching for now, but if it gets worse I'll just stick with the books.

Like it was mentioned earlier, episode 4 was an original anime episode, and is not based on the novel.

To be honest, episode 4 was a flop for one reason: it was totally pointless. What were they trying to show? On the surface, this episode was supposed to give Siesta some stage time, because, as novel readers know, she doesn't get much appearance until vol.3.

Yet, rather than focusing on Siesta, most of the episode was spent showing Saito running around trying to save a maid whom he barely knows. If this happened after, say, the end of vol.3 of the novel, after Saito and Siesta has become a lot closer, then it would've made more sense. But at the current time in the anime plot, it doesn't make much sense. It made Saito look like a hot-headed person who doesn't think about the consequences of his actions, which is certainly NOT him.

It was also a little odd that Saito got *angry* at Kirche for trying to seduce him. Again, the Saito from the novel would never react that way.
And while we're at it, why did he reject Kirche's book and yet take her sword anyway?

Finally, for the novel readers:

Saito's Gandolfr power did not activate AT ALL in the episode, despite having touched numerous weapons at various points. It's true that the powers of a Galdolfr is dependent on the intensity of his emotions, but never has Saito's powers NOT activate from touching a weapon in the novel.

And yes, Louise's "Explosion" was certainly not useful enough in the novel (at this point anyway) to block attacks. If this was the novel, the attack probably would've been blocked by Tabitha's wind wall instead.

In the end, the episode left me with a very messy impression. The big "joke" (Kirche's family treasure book being a porno mag from Earth) of the episode served as a slight foreshadowing about the future plot. But with the "Staff of Destruction" incident coming up next, I don't see any point for it.

Next episode is going to be a semi(?) anime original episode that features Henrietta's appearance (probably as a way to introduce her early, since she didn't get any appearance in vol.1 of the novel).
