While I appreciate Mint's romanticism, I think starting on December 1st would work best since I agree with wontaek's reasoning.

There is one reason why I am not advocating start new thread now approach, and that is the slim chance that the Anizone Staff changes their mind and do go ahead with Super Moe 2009. As I said before, I have put forth a proposal that can do the whole tournament within 10 days, and with minor tweak, even within a week. Super Best Moe on both occasion foretold many things about our ISML, like dominance of Shana and Suzumiya Haruhi from 06-07 Final, and Rise of Rosen dolls from 06-08 finals.
10day(or *shrug* 7day?) moe contest? I can only imagine the horrors of that.

The thing is, 7-10 days of a moe contest will not have enough credibility to anyone, unless you want us to vote in 32 matches a day like ISML, which is just ugh.

They can get it done pretty quickly if they dropped the repeater rounds.

PS: Now that the site is somewhat back, should we start a new thread?
Darn....those girls from the So-Ra-No-Wo-To clip have weaved their magic on me within 2 minutes....Guess I'll have to wait until 2011 to nominate them.

I saw that and it immediately felt like a cross between K-on and Valkyria Chronicles... though it looked more serious. I'll just have to put on a mindset in dismissing the similarities in K-on artstyle and pretend that the Valkyria Chronicles anime didn't exist (the anime shat on the game unfortunately ).

In all seriousness though, Cat Shit One caught my attention when it comes to "war" anime. I was laughing my head off when I saw that trailer.

Well if I were to nominate today, I would probably nominate:

Evangeline Athanasia Katherine McDowell - Mahou Sensei Negima!
Kagurazaka Asuna - Mahou Sensei Negima!
Mizunashi Akari - Aria
Chiba Kirino - Bamboo Blade
Hasegawa Chisame - Mahou Sensei Negima!
Perrine-H. Clostermann - Strike Witches
Yuuki Mikan - To-Love-Ru
Akatsutsumi Momoko - Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z
Hecate - Shakugan no Shana
Kobato - Kobato

Now I would probably drop Kirino and akari for someone else (probably Yin - DtB and Canaan - Canaan) cause of ther performance this year.

That's 11 characters.

But still the main reason I wanted to post is I saw the statistics page on the ISML placeholder site. Damn that picture of Rosemary looks creepy. Those statistics for 2002-2004 are pretty interesting. They'd look completely different if they were run now.
2005 is full of Negima and Mahoraba characters. Yet none of them made top 8. And only one made top 16.

It's weird seeing how stuff has changed.

Actually, the design is more like Kanngai because that series is being done by A-1, who did Kannagi. There has been a comparison between the two plenty of times. ALthough most people will think K-ON instead. Still, I'm sure this little graphical trick will get them more attention, as it already seems to be working.

I really don't see how people see K-ON! in this. I just saw character designs that are consistent with this day and age.

I'm glad you say that. The settings could hardly be more different. Reading the blurb for it, this one is set in a war-torn version of Spain and that the five girls join the army and also play music. I don't want to put a label on So-Ra-No-Wo-To myself, because I'm very intrgued and it seems to have its own style. *shrug* Time will tell. But I am keenly anticipating it for its story and music, plus those girls do look cute. That music playing in that preview vid may just be the best I've ever heard in anime.

I guess the comparison can be unsderstood to a point because of certaina spects of character designs. But if series made from now on are going to be compared to K-ON! as a main basis on whether to watch a series or not, that's not a good thing.

I certainly thought of K-on when I saw it because the art looked similar imo. On the page on mal there is even a girl who has an striking resemblance to Tsugumi.

But, of course, this doesn't has any say on the plot, feel and etc, of it.

I guess the main feature I look for in anime is the hair. While the faces might be similar to K-ON!'s designs, few of the girls have similar hair to K-ON characters, so my mind never went there. What I can say is I am looking forward to this series. I hope it won't be overhyped and then hated like K-ON!

And you're right. It just so happens that the majority of people nowadays finds K-On! to be the symbol of this kind of art style, so comparisons are just inevitable.

Also, HI LC
