First episode was somewhat interesting with the best developments going towards the unfortunate Inumael placed in quite a predicament. I wasn't particularly grabbed by the world building or the other characters and Leo in particular has already disappointed me in his incapability of speaking up. Thankfully, Leo's lacking there won't have too much impact now that Inumael took fate into his own hands.
But if there's one big take away from this whole affair it's this: never accept help from someone outside your profession. Okay but not great. Will probably drop.

Episode 2
The plot really is quite interesting and engaging. I just wish the show would spend more time on the characters. Inumael and Leo are actually proving to be quite interesting just thanks to way they react to the developments surrounding them, but it could be so much better. I want to drop this show but at the same time I'm thinking if I stick with it, that it'll improve over time as it manages to stabilise the large cast of characters it introduced from the start. From my experience anime that start with a large cast (e.g Shirobako, Astra Lost in Space) take a while for me to become comfortable with but can be quite rewarding. I hope I'm not wrong.

Well that was certainly another solid episode, but I'm still finding the whole thing a little bland. I saw somebody somewhere say this was similar to Fairy Gone and I have to agree. The difference for me so far is that Inumael is continuingly proving himself to be a character worth watching. It is quite telling how the guy consistently lands himself in predicaments way above his level but still manages to clutch his way out. Some ominous signs ahead though as Leo goes after Inumael's sister.
I also just found out that this isn't actually a game adaptation but a prequel which kinda sucks because now I know it's all just a set up to another story I'll never bother with, but there's also a chance it could still be a decent stand alone story. To drop or not to drop...

Most likely the anime is just providing world building for the game and this story with Inumael and Leo will probably wrap up with the anime. Since it seems to be separate from whatever events are leading up to the game.
The only reason he went along with it was because the blonde guy punched him. I'm sure the treat of physical violence is more then enough to get Inumael's type motivated to work...

I'm liking this more then I expected to. I kind of expected this to be more of a throw away show. But, as Haak mentioned Inumael is proving to be an interesting character. He often grudgingly does things, but still manages to get shit done. Also, the world building is pretty cool, and I'm interested in knowing what all those experiments are all about.

Okay I'm in. Episode 4 was pretty much exactly what this show needed: it was an almost full focus on the characters of the story and fleshed them out considerably.

I do wish Leo was smart enough to put two and two together and finally realise what the "extra package" he put in Inumael's truck might have been though.

This episode somewhat cleared up my doubts on whether Radbout and Faust might be the same person.
Now, just wait and see if Radbout and the Emperor are really in cahoots or not. But Mary Bald, it really pains me whenever that old whore is still alive and talking. Especially so if the pure blood magicians turn out to be innocents. (I truly hope they are.) Last edited by shmaster; 2020-11-07 at 17:13. |

I only just learned about this page, but:
This probably doesn't come off as a surprise, but it seems that the Captain married his half-sister after taking over the house. https://magatsu-wahrheit-zuerst.com/...x00130000.html

Episode 5
Animation went to shit this episode: can only hope it's a one off. But I am starting to get invested in the show now that I care more about the characters. Inumael continues to drag himself (amd consequently his imprisoned sister) further and further in. I'm honestly interested to see how far this story can go.
