You saw that in the Nia thread, right? Actually what he/she said was that in the part when Messenger Nia and Simon have a confrontation in the park, you find out that making the park was Nia's idea, and that made him/her cry.

It seems that generally there was not much of Nia though, especially since it doesn't go up to episode 22. They're also saying on the Nia thread that you can't really see how happy Nia is when it's written in words, it needs Nishigori's art to go with it. Though everyone agrees that compared to the first two novels, this one is much better written and reads like an actual novel rather than just expanding on a script.

The characters' feelings are written out, so you don't have to guess like in the anime. Kittan and Dayakka's conversation on the roof of the hospital is longer. Boota still likes jumping onto Yoko's boobs.

Someone's impressions from the main thread:

Simon...leadership points 10% up
...Shonen Jump points 50% up

Kittan, Viral, Rossiu...manliness points 20% up
Gimmy...manliness points 80% up
Females...neither good nor bad, just about the same

Bird beastman... amount of scenes 80% up
Ailac...amount of scenes 200% up (that is, he has one scene and you find out he's in the government)

Well, I've been putting any mentions of additional scenes here, but it seems like the kind of stuff that was cut out from the anime because it was limited on time has just been preserved in the novel version. And according to a review on the Amazon.co.jp page, at the round-table discussion, Nakashima said that what is written in this book is considered official canon. ...And that's like the first news I've heard from that event thanks to the gag order. :/

I don't think that the manga/anime novels are selling very well in the US. There have only been a handful of series liscensed, with Slayers probably being the best. I think the chance of us Americans reading Gurren novels in English are slim to say the least. ):

-When Simon is attacked by a mob of angry citizens, he carelessly breaks through them with a Spiral Power barrier
-When he is attacked by the chicken in the baths, Simon deals with it more calmly than he did in the anime
-He physically beats up an armed mecha used for guarding prisoners

It seems Simon really is in the same league as Lord Genome.
