Athena has much more character than Nagi imo. I read from 150 to 265 in a few hours and was thinking that FINALLY HnG has a good storyline after all instead of just comedy and nonsense then after reading 265 i became EMO. even though i expected nothing better to come out coz nagi is the main female character ZZZ. i have really lost a lot of interest in the series.

honestly why did hata make the Athena arc so good if he wanted to end it this way. athena should have just said what she wanted to say and go back to japan and then it becomes a fight for hayate which will make the series more interesting. but looks like from the spoilers of 266 that wont be happening.... i feel so let down

well Nagi throws a lot of money without deepr thinking.... becosue she doesnt want to walk... she buys a super car/ airplane/ heli or buy a whole hotel for her and her friends party......................... while Athena isnt throwing money like that......example: in past maria asked hayate to stay on a place for few days and she gave him 1milion yen for that >__<...... and here athena gived Machina only 100Euro for hamburgers and not a whole pack of money...

well hayate kinda destroyed her hosuse but it was ok for her since she couldnt do anything about it..... so well Athena is more mature than Nagi.... becouse she is aware of the money worth and that she shouldnt throw them like nagi does ^^ (the same athena is more aware of the outside world.... while both nagi and maria are in dark... never seen a train xD)

for now I guess athena will pretend that she pulled back from hayate... so he lives happly and other girls get their development.... but than athena reappears... and hell starts XD...... still Wataru has the stone of king midas... so what if hayate later gets couched and locked in that palace.... and all the girls try to save him...

agree. she has virtually no significant character development since the start except breaking the stone with the nutcracker which was quite predictable. Actually i think hayate only thinks about the debt and how she saved him so he must protect her coz he owes her. protect =/= love. in contrast he loved AND owed Athena so the conclusion why he chose nagi that i can think of is because she is the "main character". well i am biased but there's a good reason for that lol.

yeah there is onyl 1 explanation..... Hata is a "lolicon"... so whatever path Hayate will take it will allways come down to Nagi the loli...

I would be glad if Hayate payed the dept os he would be in position where he can choice when to leave if he needs it ^^ Nagi would have to watch what she says.... since she would be not in a position where Hayate has to stay with her becouse he has a dept that ties him down ^^

Fighting Midas, and being possessed by Midas with him constantly sucking your power is a different thing, and it's much harder to fight if something possessed you. And Athena claimed that she can destroy both Midas and herself with her last bit of power.

lol hata is a lolicon? @.@ i didnt know that. anyway to be honest i gave up hng halfway coz it had no storyline and the jokes were getting old and boring. i took it up again after my friend told me it was getting good, or rather, rushed 70 chapters in one shot coz the athena arc was so good. i hope the story will get more serious like the athena arc even though i HATED the 'ending' (hopefully athena does not end there, though i am wishing for the near impossible). HnG is supposed to be a love-comedy, and i think the comedy part has gone on for too far and too long and has impeded the 'storyline' (really i think the story only consisted of chapters 1-10 and the athena arc + some other impt chapters- the rest of the 100+ chapters were just plain filler-comedy, half of which were not even funny). if HnG is to make it into my favorite manga list it must give develop the romance side, and at the same time keep up a steady flow of comedy. ok enough of ranting due to my emo-ness after 265 good night all.

This is debatable since it wasnt really Athena fighting alone, the title strongest vs invincible would put me to believe they are pretty much tied. As far as we know other than sword summoning and ability unlocking, Athena may be able to do other things with her magic...but since we dont, the discussion is pointless

yes wolfnagi it is precisely because nagi is the main character so hayate's judgement would be geared toward that side. i have never seen a manga which the main guy can end up with someone else other than the main girl. i am just saying that from my point of view his actions were not very well-founded. he does not love nagi, he considers it as a form of punishment for his sins, his duty, and maybe how he cares for her. yes i may not know hng as well as u do but from what i do know this is what i conclude. Perhaps we just have different perspectives and hence what we infer is different. frankly i got quite bored of hng after a while, and the anime made it even worse. but well i will start to follow it again just to see what happens next.

i didnt hear about the specific name midas, i only heard the legend vaguely.

I mean, discussing it is really pointless to begin with. Athena has developed her cult of fans who are worshipping her like a goddess, and who will stop at nothing to interpret her every deed in the most positive light. Just like she's the best cook, the greatest dancer, and her knitting is way above everyone else's. Why? Well, she's a goddess, ain't she?

Just like it's the prerogative of people like me to point out that this uber goddess was essentially merely a damsel in distress who needed the help of most of the HnG cast to be saved from her (according to her own words) self-inflicted predicament.

Truth is in the eye of the beholder. In the meantime I'm looking forward to chapters featuring Athena in less than 50% of the panels, with a single Hayate dealing with the rest of the cast ... will be a refreshing change of pace for me.
