And yeh the Jelal/Erza fight seemed a bit anti climatic. Anime team needs to stretch them more, maybe add some fillers or something if that was an actual fight lengh in manga.

Whoever added placeholders most recently only went up to 48. They probably picked that number as if the series is continuing beyond the next arc, we'd be due for a new opening around then. |

Why would they end anytime soon? There's still a ton of material to cover and the animation doesn't seem particularly costly. I'm still hoping they do add a little filler arc here and there though, as filler arcs=plans for long-running series.

wonder whether they'll ever throw that track in, FlareKnight. Hopefully we'll get a OST 3!
I wouldn't be all that suprised if the anime ends on episode 50 or something. One episode can cover 2-3 fights judging by the pacing so far. Besides, 50-ish is about that many episodes Rave gets. uhh... every episode of FT goes by too quickly for me. It feels like the anime's only started. I do so hope FT doesn't finish so soon but sadly, I can see its end coming too soon.

The flip side of this is that they did add foreshadowing for the arc after the festival arc. To my knowledge ratings have been reasonably solid. Unless DVD and OST sales have been absolutely horrendous, there probably isn't a financial reason to end the anime. So at this point I'd say it could go either way. |

Eh i don't see those two as being signs that this show adaptation will end soon. I just think that's looking a bit much into it. I mean we could easily have new pieces in the score during the next arc.

D.Gray man mostly ended because anime had picked up with manga and author was taking a huge breaks back then. Even fillers wouldn't help since manga still isn't that far from anime ending right now. We only need to hope that when manga will finally go ahead enough, a new season will be released.

DGM is a monthly manga and the author had prolonged health issues at the time, so ending the anime was the most logical choice. Seeing how Fairy Tail is weekly and Mashima is at a good state of health, I'd say the anime gives plenty chances for filler even longer than the first part of Naruto did...not that I'm exactly looking forward to over a year of filler:P

that is because they are based on special chapters of the manga
by the way, still waiting for my "be careful with that guy" filler back to the topic, i also am getting the idea that we are going to get lots of fillers or stop for a period of time
