There was still so much left to be explained yet they decided to leave things open for another season by introducing new characters and elaborating on the prime ministers plot. That's the thing that I find strange though, are they really thinking about making another season of this? I give the anime adaptation a 5/10. The manga marginally beats out the anime (the pretty bad changes towards the end of the series removed character interactions/personality that made the story more enjoyable). :|

I'll agree that the adaptation would have definitely fared much better had the series been planned/designed to be a 2 cour series. To begin with, the only reason for making changes to what many people considered to be some of the best of what the manga offered was probably only done in order to fit a 1 cour season with hinting at a chance for a second season if sales were good. The beginning part of the manga didn't really have much focus on what kind of story it wanted to tell and instead spent itself fleshing out the world and characters. That's a pretty good way of setting up a long running manga but realistically, there is no possible way to get all of that detail with a coherent plot unless you're aiming for 20+ episodes (lol @ that zetman anime adaptation).
I wouldn't place blame solely on the series being designed as 1 cour either though, the production values seemed to have been extremely budgeted and the music couldn't have sounded more cheesy and off-putting. If by some chance the BD sales turn out to be decent (or manga sales skyrocket) and we get another season, I just hope they try a different approach or change some of the staff around. |

I just started this series. Is it just only the 13 episodes?
EDIT: Just finished the series. Have to admit it was alright. The idea of Ogami becoming super powerful just by taking off a ring was a little anti-climactic for me. The characters didn't seem to develop a whole lot ether. Ogami pretty much just remained the aloof vigilante type who happened to have a girl and puppy tag along with him when he killed people. I didn't get a lot of information about any of the Code Breakers pasts except for Hitomi, too. I haven't watched the OVA, but I hope it'll shed some light on their backgrounds. I wouldn't mind a season 2 since the ending had a little cliffhanger to it. Last edited by VTHokiePride; 2013-01-18 at 23:40. Reason: Finished the series |

The second OVA has to be the best thing of the whole anime adaptation.
Anime-only viewers may be confused, but the OVA was included with a manga volume so this is aimed at manga readers mainly since we are able to see Shibuya and his mansion plus other manga-only elements. Despite this, anime-only should watch this OVA because it's hilarious. Spoiler for OVA 2:
It's a shame how bad they messed up the story in the anime considering the manga looks like is ending soon.

The OVAs are better than the anime itself although they only provide comedy and fanservice
