While I feel the West Coast cons (and Animazement) are usually the better places in terms of seiyuus, my bet as to why Otakon gets some good guests involves the fact that:
1. It is one of the biggest anime conventions in the United States; 2. Given the Madoka Magica guest attending the con (Ai Nonaka, three dub actresses, and the just announced Gen Urobuchi), there's a chance that Otakon got some help from Aniplex here in terms of the Madoka Magica-related guests. As for me, I'd definitely would have something for Ai Nonaka to sign if I do attempt to attend of her autograph sessions.

Yes, and? It gets consistently good guests every year, as has Sakura-con lately. I know there are other good conventions out there that get good guests too, like San Diego ComicCon. East Coast gets one convention with a good set of guests every four years, so I really have to ask what your beef is with it.

I know people tend to not like the dub for this show {Or nearly any anime, really}. But I really do think some of the dub actors deserve some praise for they're work just as much as the japanese voice actors do, with special mention going to Homura's dub actress Cristina Valenunza {I might not be spelling her name right}. She did a fantastic job with all the aspects of Homura's personality and characterization, on top of being a great actress too.
Fun fact: Since they're dubbed by the same company Aniplex, Madoka Magica and Kill La Kill have some of the same dub actors, like Mami's actress voicing Satsuki or Madoka's actress voicing Mako. |
