Problem: No sound during playback.

Soundless playback achieved with WMP7.0 and DivX Player 2.5.3.

DivX Player 2.5.3 informs:
"The video file you are opening includes audio data that is not recognised by the DivX Player.
The file contains the following type of data:
Audio data: Tag 253
You may need to install a new audio codec on your computer to listen to the audio..."

This has been bugging me for quite a while and altho i have collected the series, i have put off watching them.

Where can i get and appropriate sound codec?

Easiest way would be to uninstall all your filters and follow this Configuration Guide provided on this site.
