It's possible but note the word "atone." That means he thinks the Yotsuba did something bad they have to make up for. Consider Maya's opinion of Tatsuya. She thinks he's a monster. There is a division within the Yotsuba based on rank: the low ranked members see nothing but a failure, the high ranked members see a nearly uncontrollable monster.

i wonder could the sin have something related to his birth not the experiment because if that was all it is they would not be that afraid plus they know his power pretty well and his years before the experiment happen had not been told yet it would fit nicely in the story

wait i just thought of this where did they put tatsuya when he was born because miyuki did not even know she had a brother until they met at the age of 8 because that is when tatsuya became miyuki guardian so they must have known something about him in that time and Mitsugu said ''Originally, that thing should not even be allowed outside'' so could it be there is something about tatsuya birth that they were so afraid of

You do realize that miya and maya are identical twins right? meaning they have the same DNA so even if he was born from maya he will still have half of maya/miya dna and if tested they will show more closely to siblings then cousins.

because miyuki was born with insane magic power she was treated as a princess and tatsuya was not, he was probably living away somewhere doing guardian training or something.
I really hate the yotsuba, bunch of a-holes , i really hope sometime soon tats will just kick their asses to put them to respect and to show them there's a bigger fish in the lake besides them.

yea they are identical twins but then they would have different father so that still wont match the DNA and they can could be cousin but the blood test wont say they are sibling if they are cousin so that cant be it

See the bold? As far as the Yotsuba are concerned, that is his behavior. I'm not arguing he is a sociopath, I'm saying the Yotsuba see him as one.

- Kudou suspects if anything gets too out of hand, Tatsuya will step in.
- Koichi knows about Retsu's plan but doesn't do anything because Steeplechase is only for second and third years and his daughters won't be participating in it.
- Maya says that she hopes Tatsuya can lay low for at least another half year (or more accurately, until New years) <- wonder what they're planning for New Years? Actually, is this when the Ten Master Clans Deciding Council takes place? I don't remember...
- Miyuki stops Tatsuya from going after the parasites/investigating (at first, I haven't read why he goes after them later) since she can tell he's extremely tired and wearing himself down. She threatens to seal off his "eyes" even if it will mean she can no longer use magic and possibly have to retire from the Nine Schools Competition or even drop out of Magic High School. Foreshadowing something maybe?
- Yotsuba is trying to get rid of the anti-Great Asian alliance of the military and so ends up conspiring with Kazama and Saeki to get rid of them (the anti(? not sure if this is a good translation, could be something else, I need to look back at it)-Great Asian alliance faction is working with Kudou on the parasites)
- the Kudou allied military faction is recording Tatsuya's fight with the parasites and is shocked Mahesevara is there (they're like, what's a monster like that doing here??? lol) before the Yotusba step in (actually the Yotsuba play a pretty big role behind the scenes his volume)
