Find a girl who looks so adorable waiting in anticipation for her boyfriend to ask her out to the movies like Shikimori. And her rapid glee when he does .

So Izumi's luck doesn't just impact its health, it's ruined many an outing with Shikimori, which is why he's trying to be as prepared as possible for their date and packing as much as he can into a backpack for every emergency. Excessive, but with his luck, it seems genuinely necessary .

Shikimori at home! I love seeing her in glasses and with her her hair naturally wavy. She looks great! And we even get a Shikimori fashion show as she tries to find the perfect outfit for her date with Izumi .

Shikimori's brother! Voiced by Hiro Shimono! He seems like the typical older brother, and while Shikimori doesn't seem to have revealed to her family that she has a boyfriend, I think her brother gets the picture .

Shikimori looks great in that red dress, ponytail, and braided hair .

Izumi trying hard to be a great boyfriend who is considerate of what his girlfriend likes and wants to know what she's interested in...even if that means watching a Horror movie because she likes challenging herself with scary stuff, so the pair end up watching It: The Anime. Poor Izumi is desperately terrified, but luckily he has Shikimori's firm hand gripping him to give him comfort. I think she was more happy sitting next to him than watching a movie anyway .

The moment Izumi said he'd pay for the sweets, you knew he had lost his wallet. Although karma works in mysterious ways as instead of sweets Shikimori gets a treat of homemade cooking with her future in-laws when they stumble into Izumi's parents. She's already jumped to "mother" and "father" like it's the most natural thing in the world .

Shikimori finds out that Izumi gets not only his looks but his natural klutziness from his mom .

I love how Izumi's dad is just standing there watching his sons girlfriend admit her anxiety of being in the house of the boy she loves and then watching his wife fall for their sons' girlfriend. And then they bond by playing boxing games .

It's got to be tough for a mother raising a child that gets so inexplicably hurt every time you send him off on his own, and Motoko is worried about the kind of burden that will be on Shikimori, but Shikimori doesn't see it as a burden at all and sees Izumi's natural kindness and perseverance in-spite of his bad luck as one of his best qualities and probably why she fell for him. And with her around, he won't have to worry about his bad luck .

When you girlfriend and your mom become gal pals and text each other .

Quite the talk between shikimori and izumi mother, now we know were he get the bad luck. I'm thinking with that flashback izumi may have a really big scar and was involve in a big accident.

This series is very sweet, it's like a different flavor of normal romance than Horimiya was.

Shikimori frets about whether or not she'll be seen as cute, when her boyfriend really doesn't care, and is equally attracted to her when she's cute or ends up coming off handsome. Izumi genuinely wants her to be herself, while she seems to stress about being the "perfect" girlfriend reading trashy advice from Girls Magazines.

Then it comes full circle nicely because Shikimori pronounces that she loves him for the disaster that he is, because that adversity has made him a good man.

It was cute seeing her beg to be taken to a movie in the beginning.

In manga this dinner is the first time Shikimori met Izumi parents, but anime made it as second time implying the event split into two separate events.
Her brother also got early reveals here while in manga it still much later unless anime planned for Izumi to visit Shikimori family in response to this episode.

Too bad they nerfed Izumi dad impeccable timing.

Shikimori is a cutie, Izumi is also a cutie, and this really is a sweet show. The good vibes bit in ep 2 was adorable, followed a skillful illustration of fickle high school celebrity. Hope the volleyball ace girl is alright.

Inuzuka is the one most focused on studying and their exams? He's like Bakugo with Iida's personality .

It's not often we see the girl expressing a desire to see her boy in a swimsuit, but I think Shikimori secretly wants to see him shirtless .

I love how Shikimori's takeaway from that poster was that Izumi was admiring the sexy gal in a revealing swimsuit when he was really just admiring her abs. It felt very on-brand for this couple .

I'm a little disappointed that Shikimori didn't try it on, but that would probably be too much for a high school girl. I'd love to see what she did pick out though .

Shikimori may be a Chad, cool, girlfriend but even she gets turned to mush from stuff Izumi says .

The origin of the girls' friendship! Shikimori was seen as Nekozaki's ideal woman, but a serious basketball game that pitted them against each other firmly cemented their friendship when Nekozaki learned about Shikimori's cool and competitive side. Nothing forms a friendship quite like sports .

Nothing more romantic than stargazing or talking to your significant other late at night! But Shikimori kicking her legs because she's a blushing mess after Izumi sweet talks her was perfect .

So not only can you seduce your boyfriends' mother, but said boyfriends mother can seduce you too. Also almost kill you with her klutziness with cooking utensils .

Well, his takeaway from a poster of a woman in a skimpy bikini was her pecks instead of...anything else, so maybe he really has different tastes .

I guess there's also the fact that, despite being the universes snot rag, it's never got in the way of him being kind and considerate towards others, particularly his friends, like we see in this episode with Hachimitsu and Inuzuka. And that's why Shikimori fell for him .

It's time for the kids' Summer River Trip! Which means cute Summer travel outfits and Summer Fun! Shikimori in twintails! And Izumi's bad luck doesn't even ruin it .

Hachimitsu is literally the embodiment of Mood. She gets the best lines and moments .

Izumi knows how to cook! Of course Shikimori doesn't even want to consider the idea that might make him popular with other women, she's worried enough Inuzuka is after him .

Shikimori is seemingly the perfect girl, but...her cooking could use some work. But her boyfriend braves the taste to be able to say he could eat his girlfriends' cooking with a smile, even at the expense of himself, but that just makes Shikimori more determined to improve her cooking skills .

The way Shikimori licked that finger...I think she wants to devour more than just Izumi's sweets, if you know what I mean .

Time for swimsuits! Nekozaki has a pretty sporty bikini that shows off her ample assets, and Hachimitsu has a frilly bikini that's very her and even a shell for a one-woman show .

Izumi trying to save a little girl got in the current has all the makings of going wrong, but he actually manages to save her before his leg cramps. Luckily that it gave his girlfriend the perfect opportunity to show off her bikini top as she dives in after him and saves him. That's definitely an impactful swimsuit reveal, and Shikimori with wet hair and her eye covered and her boobs prominently portrayed from her top is an amazing visual .

It's really nice to see how much Izumi's friends care about him that they were so worried something had happened to him and are so happy he's okay. Look at all the tears from Nekozaki .

Poor Shikimori getting beaten to the punch with the little girl kissing Izumi on the cheek. And then she freely offers up an indirect kiss via ice cream but her eternal rival Inuzuka steals her chance for one with Izumi and she petulantly devours his ice cream in response. Shikimori can even make brainfreeze look cool .

Shikimori looks great in that blue skirt .

No surprise everyones' so tired after a long day of fun, but it offered the perfect opportunity for Shikimori to lean on Izumi's shoulder as she sleeps adorably, and then, with no one watching, cradle his sleeping head on hers when she wakes up. It was utterly adorable .
