Destined to be apart

So I'm looking for a romance where the main guy and girl run through their whole lives without ending up together. Whether if it's because they don't pull the trigger or some unrelated factor. Something along the lines of they're soul mates, but fate doesn't want them to be together.

Yes, i've seen Byousoku.

The Girl who Leapt Through Time.

Romeo X Juliet lol.

Those 2 are the only ones I can think of.

As for movies.

Titanic.

Ghost. With Patrick Swazey or whatever.

Seven Pounds.

500 Days of Summer. GAAHHHH

Casablanca.

Lost in Translation. Depends upon your interpretation of the final scenes.

I'll try and think of more animes later.

spoilerish recommendation thread is spoilerish

the thread title should have a *POSSIBLE SPOILER* warning. if the anime is a really good romance that the 2 main seem to be forever together then a surprise plot twist part them. but if it listed here, everyone will expect something to part them sooner or later.

Adding to the list are Makoto Shinkai's movies Voices of a Distant Star (Hoshi no Koe) and 5 Centimeters Per Second. If you don’t mind some action, I'll second Basilisk.

Also, I don’t know about Ichigo 100% anime, but in the manga, the main guy and the main girl didn’t end up together even though they adore each other.
