I shall be very angry if Matsuri decides to hurt Aono, because it would quite hypocritical of her to do so. Especially if Aono is actually helping Yorito now. Aono has already relented at this point (yielded even), so anything that involves further misery upon her shall be frowned upon by me heavily.

Aono may have made mistakes of her own, but none of them warrants murder. Eliminating Aono to "erase" her mistake of reviving her will easily make Matsuri the first Noto-voiced character I will end up hating.

We haven't brought up the speculation that it's possible that Mayouko is the one that caused memories to fade before leaving. We were never privy to what she could do.

I'm still not understanding Matsuri's intent by brandishing that sword. It can go at any direction at this point. Maybe she found out that she can free Yorito from Aono's grip? That's just one possibility though. I'm going to stay open to anything until we reach the end of the series. I just hope they tie up the story properly without making me feel like I was shorted.

As for Yorito, I'm somewhat confused with what he's doing. First, he's upset with Aono with doing what she did, but after finding out what he is and kissing Matsuri, he goes back to Aono and tells her all he wants to do is make her happy? That sounds like he's saying that he'll give up his autonomy just to serve her.

Not sure who caused the memory loss, but I do recall Matsuri saying something briefly that goes along the lines of that a Phantom is a entity of a dream and that though they probably do exists you'll forget about them when you wake up, whatever that means (or something rather like that.. I forget).

As for the sword and her reappearance at Aono's house, it would seem like to me that she's going to relieve Aono of her misery and then 'disappear' together with Yorito. Either that or a mass 3 person suicide with Yorito. As for Yorito, I don't know what he's up to.

Maybe Aono broke Yaka Law #1.

Recently turned Yaka must not kill their creator. By attempting such an act, the Yaka creator in question has every right to kick your a** straight to H***. The method of which is up to the Yaka creator in question.

No petioning the ruling council is required for this to occur.

*This law was voted uninaimously on 1/27/1240 and is part of the Yaka Bill of Rights and is recognized world-wide.*

But still doesn't this feel like we're missing a piece of info here?

I just don't see any other way as I mentioned in the EP.10 thread. And, I'm going logically here. If the sword nullifies a Yaka's power from being used, then the one way to nullify Aono's power is to stab her with the sword. We already seen Matsuri's power through touch and decaying objects, and she couldn't decay or rust the sword. Aono has shown that it seems her power is tied to her blood, especially after animating that origami frog with her blood. If Matsuri does go this route of stabbing Aono with the sword, it would stop Aono's power and more than likely kill her. It would be the most selfish and unbecoming method for Matsuri to do so. Like someone said, it's like playing God. I think she regrets reviving Aono, and this is probably one way to correct for past mistake.

And, I don't know, I think more likely it's Aono who erased everyone's memory, probably through Yorito and those that came in contact with him: Koyori, Mana, his classmates and teacher. Only seen Aono manipulating anyone's memories, and not Mayuko or Matsuri, unless Mayuko has a power we haven't seen yet.

As I said earlier, the question as to who's causing the memory loss or what's really happening is up in the air.

If Matsuri stabs Aono, it could mean it would be the end of Yorito if it's through her he's alive and existing. It doesn't mean that it would kill Aono in the process, but it probably would nullify her powers to at least a certain point. It's possible that once Yorito gone, Matsuri intends to kill herself, leaving Aono alone. Of course, this is all speculation right now since there's so many possibilities and directions the story can take.

I'm pretty sure that she was just doing a soliloquy about how illusions are like dreams. The illusion being Yorito perhaps?

A triple murder-suicide seems likely at this point, as I don't think Matsuri went to talk :O. Although, I'm (more than) half expecting some type of plot twist.

Also.. in the conversation between Mayuko and Matsuri... it seems Matsuri and Yorito both agreed on the next plan of action... but it may be something that they would regret --「後悔しないでね」were Mayuko's parting words (again hinting toward that murder-suicide scenario :O). Then again... Yorito said that she just wants to make Aono happy ... he can't possibly be twisted enough to mean happiness in death would he?!

So yeah... back to square one. Like it has been this entire series for me.

I doubt that Aono's murder and double suicide is what they are planning. But it is fun to speculate on Matsuri dicing Aono to bits.

We still have not been given enough information to understand fully what is going on. My speculation, based on Matsuri's behaviors from ep. 1 to 10 ( yes, TEN ) is that Matsuri will ask Aono to make a choice which can involve using the sword in certain ways. We don't know what other powers that sword may have.

as true as this may be it still doesnt sound like the matsuri we know and love ~ why is she being out of character? why is she wanting to kill aono who is unable to do anymore harm? matsuri is begining to get on my nerves if she thinks that killing someone who has lost her most important person is alrite...its just like kicking aono some more while shes already down on her knees...as i see it aono no longer has the will to persue yorito anymore so why is it a need to kill her?

The Mana scene with Yorito seems to imply that the teasing from her friends might actually hold a degree of truth into it, but what's more important is the fact that it's made plain to see that despite their casual day-by-day bantering, Mana really does care a lot for Yorito.

About the memory part....It's a little confusing for me, but apparent Matsuri's explanation did the trick about that. Yorito earned what few brownie points he could with me in this episode. At least he didn't 'scream like a pussy' like what others made him out to be in the previous episodes regarding his fate. There seemed to be a resigned calm in him.

The greater issue lies with what Matsuri is planning to do with that sword. Attacking Aono seems a little out of character for her, but at this point in time anything's still possible.

The only darned question is whether the series will end on a happy or sorrowful note.

There's something definitely amiss here. If the plan was merely to destroy Aono, then there would be no need to vacate the house. I'm thinking there's something else in store for Aono other than death.

There's also all this talk about recurrence to the past, which leads me to think they're going to try and replicate the scenario from hundreds of years ago; by returning Aono to the state where she was a normal human who had lost her brother, in an attempt to get her to acknowledge and accept reality. Again though, it seems they may be planning to bring Aono somewhere. There's only two places I can think of that would make sense: The place where original Yorito died, or the cave where she killed herself.

Also, I'm incredibly intrigued by the episode 12 title. It sounds like a reference to the rather symbolic flashback from the end of episode 6. Remember the scene where Aono gets resurrected, where we're shown a very distinct dichotomy between the darkness and light, represented as the dark cave versus the sky-lit ground. The dark world of misery, or the light one where people can toss away their pain. Perhaps Aono's going to have to choose once again between the two. The last time she decided to take the easy way out and end it all. I wonder if there's anything that can be done to change her mind. Though it could also have something to do with Matsuri's choice in the past as well, which re-immersed Aono in the darkness of the pain she was trying to escape.

EDIT: And is it just me, or does this episode have some ridiculously awesome BGM?

EDIT #2: Just reading over the rest of the thread and noticing there's a lot of wondering about who caused the mass memory loss. I think the monologue is the most important here, as it references the fading of illusions. With Yorito knowing he's a fake, and with Aono accepting the end of their facade in the town, their respective illusions are thus coming to an end.

ouch, though as awesome as this ep was, it was MAJORLY depressing. Looks like any hope for some kind of a happy ending is gone.....

Its not exactly clear what caused the crazy memory loss, but to me it just seems like Yorito was only an illusion after all. And because he isn't actually REAL, his existence isn't actually taking place. So, people won't be able to remember this illusion of a person from the past because he isn't really there. He's just like an image in a dream, something that will just fade from memory. Like I said, very very sad.....especially the Mana scene.......that was just hard to watch, case you knew right when that sun went down, she would forget who he was.

that pretty much wraps up the Mana/Kyori and Mayuko/Takeshi plotline.........all thats left is now is Matsuri, Yorito, and Aono.

I would not bet on the Mayukp/Takeshi plotline being over. The ending might be her becoming human again and them having a happy ending,

I just realized. Maybe whenever a yaka revives (as in Matsuri reviving Mayuko and Aono, _and_ as in Aono "reviving" the paper Yorito) someone, it's always an illusion?

... I think both Matsuri and Aono are illusions. That's why they disappeared in the picture. Perhaps all yaka's are illusions...
