My very first anime series... what a nostalgic memory
Surffing surffing I found a very old anime called Candy Candy http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,1...ndy_candy.html which made tears run down my cheeks once I saw its intro and its ending. Ohhhh! what a deep moment it was to remenber one of my favorite childhood anime series : ( My mother, my brother, my father and I used to sit down to watch Candy Candy toguether. It was such a deep and cute series.
AHH! THOSE PICTURES! NOO MY HEART IS ABOUT TO COLLAPSE... What a memories : ( This is a very old series, is one of the oldest animes (1976) this is about an optimistic and good-hearted little girl who was left behind by her parents in a cold winter night. She lives in orphanage called Pony's home, where is taken care of by a group of nuns. Thereafter, penuries only await for little Candy, her friends and her bother make her life impossible. : ( But along the way she was always grinning at adversity and She made a lot good friends. We also see her growing as the episodes past until she becomes a pretty lady (I was in love with Candy : ) This series was a legend in South America, it is well know by teenagers and adults, and it has lots of fans all over the world. It was produced by Toei and IT IS NOT LICENCED IN THE US! it would be an exelent idea if animesuki can fansub this series. But it is so old... that I doubt if it is aviable on dvd or vhs. If you like Saikano and Grave of the Fireflies, you will love this anime (if you can find it) Here is the intro and the ending that made me cry. The music is exelent so you may like it. http://cartoons.metropoliglobal.com/...candy_open1.rm http://cartoons.metropoliglobal.com/.../candy_end1.rm And for those spanish speakers in this forun here is the music of the intro and the ending in spanish. I couldn't find the video but is just the same as the japanese one. (I hope you can hold tears) http://cartoons.metropoliglobal.com/musica/candy_op.rm http://cartoons.metropoliglobal.com/musica/candy_end.rm OOOH CRAP, THOSE MEMORIES... If you excuseme please, something got into my eyes and I need to go under the pillow to take it out... Have a nice day.

I've heard tons of good things about Candy Candy but never actually seen it myself. To translate the previous post for you, I'll give you romanization and translation hehe
Natsukashisugi (Bakushou [short for it]) Ore mo gaki no koro miteta de This is too nostalgic! (Laughter) When I was kid, I also watched it. That's basically the gist of it |

I'd love to see Candy Candy, but it's a little difficult to find copies of. Is it even still sold these days (I'm talking about DVDs and VHS copies).
I did watch the Candy Candy Movie a few months ago though, does that count? :P |

Yes, I remembered Candy Candy. But I don't remember Terry. I only remember Charles. Hmm, maybe the translation was different? I think I have the manga... need to search for it to check it out.
Anyway, I was not a big fan of it at that time. Preferred animes like "Captain Future" then (well, I am a guy.. .maybe that's why) It was also not my first anime. I believed my first anime should be "Kerokko Demetan", which is about a frog. |

Prolly showing my age here, but I watched it as a youngling as well. Didn't really like it cus I was shonen back then... I reallly dug Mazinger Z and Science Ninjas. Come on... boys watching Candy Candy? You'll get your butt kicked in school.
My first was, like millions of others, Doraemon. Yes I can still sing the Doraemon theme... I always kinda though that Nobita was solely responsible for the masses of panty-obsessed Japanese adult today. |

I haven't seen the movie, neither I have read the manga or watched the ovas. So I can really comment on those ones. But, based on anime info, most people didn't like candy candy movie, because if you haven't seen the series it is very difficult for you to understand the movie. The movie is here http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/189.html.

I just saw the movie, but it is not like a movie. It only last 25 minutes, unltil she met Antony, her first boy friend who dies later : (. It embraces the first episodies of the series. It is a good episodie, but it is not a movie. However, I'm sure that whoever watch it will come to understand the series a little better. So it is a very good introduction to this anime.

I've never watched Candy Candy, but it sounds great just from sugetsu's synopsis. It's an amazingly long series isn't it? I wonder what fansub group would be up to such a daunting task of completing it. Live-evil has done a few eps? Mebbe I should get that. It's kinda interesting watching older series like Miyuki, which is a pretty nice show, but with terrible voice acting.
Oh, and KJ1980 says that it brings back memories and he's seen it as well when he was a kid. (I think. I'm only guessing since I really can't speak Japanese) |

I don't have more info about this anime it is too old... Does anybody else remenber that picture? Rose of Versalles (1979 EXCELLENT ANIME) (Intro) http://cartoons.metropoliglobal.com/videos/oscar_op.rm http://<br /> http://www.animenfo.c...f_versail.html (Info) http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/92.html You should really consider watching this anime. This anime is based on the Frensh Revolution. The protagonist is Oscar, a woman who was raised as a man, due to the fact that her father always desired to had a man but never could. When she became 14 she joined the imperial guard that protected the king of france. Then it only gets worse for her... Battles, love deceptions, romance and tragedy follow her path as she grows older... Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs (1984) The first Mecha series that I remenber of... It is a classic The intro is good too. http://cartoons.metropoliglobal.com/...ble_opening.rm (Intro) http://cartoons.metropoliglobal.com/...Saber_Rider.rm This an excellent intro song... (This one of those catchy songs that pops up in my mind every once in a while) http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,3...rider_and.html (Info) Future Boy Connan (1978) It is so good that I even made a bitchy threat about it trying to persuade everybody to download it http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=3313 I still don't know if that "nice advertisement" really worked out http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/191.html (Info) Heidi, Girl in the Alps (1974) http://cartoons.metropoliglobal.com/videos/heidi_op.rm (Intro) http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,8...o_shojo_h.html (Info) This is a very touching series It is from the creator of Future Boy Conan. And it is about a little girl who is taken to live with her grand father who lives in the Alps (Sounds familiar) At the beginning, her grand father didn't like the idea at all, but the charming personality of this girl makes him love her with all his heart They have many adventures and never the less, lots of problems that are always solved. After wards, there are many circumstances that force Heidi to leave her grand father (this part was very sad) while she lives with her aunt she meets a girl whom due to a previous accident, she is bound to a wheelchair. They became good friends and afterwards they decide to go back to Heidi’s grandfather house, because they think the air from the mountains could be good for "Clarita’s" problem. OH CRAP... I still remember when Heidi comes back to her Grandpa’s house... what a nice moment! (Something got into my eyes...) Finally, with the help of Heidi and her grand father Clarita is able to walk again! (Damn, why do I torture myself with such a nostalgic memories...) Captain Tsubasa (1984) My first sports series http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,4...n_tsubasa.html (Info) Saint Seiya (1986) For me, the best anime show ever created in the story of anime. Best music, Graphics, story, drama, action secuences, some violence (but not much), poetry, educational info about mitology and lots of enjoyment. http://www.animenfo.com/review.php?i...iya&type=anime
