Poor guy obviously has feelings (both intrigue and fear) for Yuuko, and he can't do much against a ghost really. So far there are no make or break situations that he has to make (or maybe there is, I forgot what happened back at ch. 8) a decision/stand; therefore, there's absolutely nothing wrong with just following an awesome, sexy ghost around and just having fun~~!

what do you guys think of the significances of Yuuko's body being found in a underground shrine with a broken leg. Take into consideration the door to the Shrine was cover by a mirror.

The person/spirit was sealed up into the shrine and the school was built up around it. That's more like Fatal Frame style of story I think....

She was either chosen unwillingly or she knows what the shrine is all about that whoever it was broke her leg to make sure she never leaves that place...alive anyway. I guess the shock must be too traumatic that she ended up forgetting as a means of escape from the pain.

But can you truly say that with certainty? She HAS lost all of her memories. Her current mischievous nature could simply be the result of being lonely + being a ghost. Who knows what her original personality is like.

Perhaps "self-sacrifice" would be the appropriate 3rd option. Something was happening and she decided to do something herself when she ended up down there. That stone with her name on it would mean someone meant something enough to Yuuko to make such a thing, maybe out of thanks that she did whatever it was to stop "something" from happening.

It seems that you are asking a question while indicating your answer.

So if it is an accident, then shouldn't the body be buried properly after it is discovered?
On the other hand, in real life, hiding the body in a secret chamber and sealing it just with a mirror is not a very good way to cover up a crime, is it? ( Clearly it worked in the manga, oh well) My guess lean toward sacrifice, and it certainly have something to do with the past of the current headmistress. As for the broken leg, maybe there was some kind of incident and the injury was fatal, so Yuuko became the sacrifice (voluntarily or not) since she can't be saved anyway. <--- pure speculation.

Ga-rei Zero( the anime) is very good, especially for its drama and Yuri subplot. On the other hand, Ga-rei (manga) is trash, so I heard. I tried a few chapters and found it no good. There is no need to waste your time on that. Plus, you don't need to know anything from Gai-rei in order to watch Ga-rei zero.

My thoughts are that Yuuko's death is a voluntary sacrifice to seal some evil spirits in or something.
I know of some legends that say that when a person is scared, (evil) spirits can come in and take advantage of it or something, sort of like fear feeds evil. Yuuko seems to be running around debunking the ghost stories she hears, so that gives me that impression.

Either that or she's a nice ghost who likes to help people.

It appears that Ghost Yomi Yuuko was *volunteered* to sacrifice herself during a pandemic outbreak in school, however when she was near her death she began to have grudges on the school who picked her to die for her school. When she died, 2 spiritual entities were born, the ghost Yomi Yuuko that we know and love to fap to and the evil alter-ego of herself which Yuuko's grandniece (who I don't bother remembering her name because she's a bitch) stumbled upon (on number of occasions).

Pffft, I like Rea and all, but I would hardly consider her up there with Fran or Yuuko. She's just a bit TOO typical personality-wise. Really the only thing that stands out is her condition, which is depicted quite differently than your typical zombie story or char.
