Yeah, it's odd indeed. I wonder if all 12 will even air. I hope we don't get a situation like Wandering Son, where they had to edit two episodes into one for air because of the noitaminA format. >_<

Why would we? It's impossible to pack that much in 12 episodes, even for the best director in the world. And there's not much jazz in the first few volumes you know.

Guilty Crown had lots more sales potential. It did break 10,000 for the first volume(Yeah, no accounting for taste anywhere it seems). I don't see Sakamichi no Apollon getting anywhere near that unfortunately.

I am disappointed that this only has 12 episodes, but at least what is being offered in NoitaminA for Spring and half of Summer looks much better than Guilty Crown and BRS.

I think you misunderstood me. I was expressing my disappointment that noitamina decided to be "stingy" (in comparison to something like GC, which was BAD) towards Watanabe and Yoko Kanno.

Bleh. What I said in the noitaminA discussion thread still strongly applies. Somewhat very bitter that they're not going for 2 cours... I do know it'd be a risky bet (josei adaptation and all), but so much for saying the timeslot would give longer series a chance, only to limit that opportunity to GC.

I suppose this is where having a skilled director will actually matter. Your average director would probably give the story break-neck pacing and ruin the source material, but maybe Watanabe can make this work. Or something. -_-

Really? Dammit, NoitaminA. :/ Haven't they learned from all those shows before?

I seriously don't understand these guys. Well, I think I get why they're using this model but ffs, they make these incredibly compressed shows and then they wonder why they fail to bring the numbers, and why people fail to get attached to them enough to buy the goods. Apparently Guilty Crown is selling really well so I thought maybe that would make them see the light, but no...

Does the manga have any arcs or is it one long continuous story?
I wonder if there's any point in the manga where they could do a timeskip. Like for example cover Vol 1 and 2 and then skip to Vol 6.

Maybe...but still this news totally make me dissapointed. I mean what are they thinking(The Noitamina Executives)to cram those 9 vol manga in only 12 eps>.<Sure, this probably not going to sell as many as Anohana or GC, but only giving this 12 eps while GC got the luxurious of 2 cour timeslot just make me bitter. I hope it doesn't turn up like No. 6 all over again, well I'm sure Watanabe probably can pull it of but still....only 12 eps><
