The quarterfinals start today with Kagami versus Tomoyo. Kagami is the first of two Lucky Star characters to make the Top 8 while Tomoyo is the first of three Clannad chaarcters to make the top 8. Kagami has done nothing but impress so far this contest. Breaking 60% in a three way match is not a simple task. Kagami did it twice and her opponents were far from low end fodder. Tomoyo has also done quite well but she did have a close call against Miyako in Round 4. Two of the past results to pay attention to are Kagami versus Kyou and Tomoyo versus Konata. Kyou and Konata were both considered top tier opponents but they got completely blown away. I get the feeling that neither result is an accurate representation of the strengths of the characters involved. Those matches were probably a case of Kyoto Animation SFF. The overlapping fanbase disproportionately favored one side over the other to create a blow out out of a close match. As this is another Clannad versus Lucky Star match, this might occur again. Whoever wins this match might end up doing so by a much larger margin than expected. As for who I think will win, I'm going to side with Kagami. Clannad getting 3 characters into the Top 8 is drawing in anti-voters. Facing Kagami with any handicap at all will not end well. Also I don't think Kagami would have struggled with Miyako like Tomoyo did. I would normally say the match will be close, but I think SFF will kick in the make the margin of victory wider than it should be.

My prediction:
Kagami - 57.00%
Tomoyo - 43.00%

I'm voting for Hiiragi Kagami.

I was originally going to vote for Kagami... but then I started thinking back about instances of their moe and I realized I just like Tomoyo's better (all of them in the OVA). I'm still predicting Kagami to win because she's been such a powerhouse throughout this tournament, but Tomoyo has got my heart on this match. Either way, I like both characters so I still win if either of them make it. They're right above each other on my moe meter.

It's a rather odd version of Kagami on the 4chan wallpaper... but it's still Kagami.

My vote was almost swayed today, though not by the bad depiction of Kagami on the match poster but by the good wallpaper of Tomoyo beside the bear costume posted by Bathory Area.



I like Kagami and Tomoyo almost equally so my vote is easy to sway for this match.

lol I didn't mean that the poster made me change my mind. I guess I should have posted the Kagami looks weird part after the part about me changing my mind. I originally just came into this thread to say that I changed my mind about who to vote for and then I saw that poster and I had to comment on it.

And I guess you're right that I can't be 100% sure of it but I don't see how Tamaki or Nagisa could possibly beat Kagami. And it's pretty unlikely that Tsukasa or Fuko could beat Hinagiku.

What is a rush?

Quite simply it is one of the native traditions of the 2ch existance of Saimoe... it is a fun way to enteract with other like-minded fans to show support for some cause. Most rushes are based on a single charector or series... for example the Nanoha series has always had quite a following. One of the main goals it to make an unbroken series of posts in 2ch ... which is pretty easy in the first rounds, but becomes more and more impossible as the saimoe progresses. So timing is important! The AnimeSuki rush is a rush more to show the support of English speaking fans of some of the traditions of the Saimoe.

Are there any template rules?

There are technical limitations of 2ch, particularly 2048 bytes. So far I have not found a way to check it that is correct every time, other than test posting it. It seems that while 2ch claims 2048, it may be closer to 1930 or lower.

For our rushes, the only required element is ensuring that the AnimeSuki linker is present and appropriately located. Note, the linker is spread across the bottom and top of the rush posts such to LINK the posts together.

I highly encourage people to play with the film strip. The film strip is the part running down the left of the rush post. The "default" is just "Anime" ... but I strongly encourage putting the moe gal's name there.

If you art is really big or complex, it is fine by me for it to run into parts of the linker or film strip as needed, but do not completely obscure the linker.

Don't know how to do AA? It's okay... use our templates.

Include some moe-bun if you can. Due to the size limits, sometimes the best way to do this is several minutes before the rush, post your moe-bun (charector support) .. then in your rush post put ">>###" (where the number refers to the post your moe-bun is in).

Please try to maintain POSITIVE moe-bun... yes the darkside is strong, but at least for these rushes, please only provide positive moe-bun for the moe-gal your supporting. Save the anti-moe bashing for posts outside of the rush.

Don't give the japanese finger ammunition! If you've already voted, please make sure that you change the <<CHARA-HERE>> to something else... like //CHARA-HERE// ... I'll leave my professional opinion of fake votes aside, but 2ch already has enough gaijin hating people... they love to blame fake voting on us for some reason.

How do I Rush?

IF you already know how to vote in Saimoe, it's basically not all that much different...

Probably the easiest way to do it is to open up the 2ch voting thread in a new window (I tend to open two or three tabs of it in that window to various reasons). What is the current voting thread? Just look through the posts here... usually people will post it here.. and we try to post it just before the rush, especailly if it is getting close to the end of a thread.

If you want to, you can simple open one of the templates found in this post for the chara you like, and copy over the template to the voting box of your 2ch voting thread...

Then open up the time link above. If you haven't posted anything on 2ch today, good chance you will get the cookie question... so 5-10 seconds before the appointed time, click post, then right when appointed time crosses, click ok on the cookie question. Even better is to post in one of the many polls that are going on in 2ch... or if you are not familar enough with Japanese... you can do a normal vote 10-30 minutes before the rush ... then just click post right on the appointed time...

Again, you dont HAVE to vote and rush at the same time... I do, but it's just how I do it... and you don't have to use my art (actually if you can find other art, WONDERFUL! ) ... just remember to make sure the linker (the 2 lines at top and bottom that say "AnimeSuki" when two posts are together) are in the right spot... and thats it.

RUSH TIPS

Naturally one of the more 'competitive' parts of a rush is gaining the longest unbroken chain possible. Here is an example. As you can see most of these posts come within 1 minute, with 10 within the first few seconds. Naturally, right now, AnimeSuki Rushes lack the sheer manpower to compete with the Nanohasts faction (and that isn't the whole rush), we can surely compete on preciseness.

How? Just follow these fairly simple tips...

1 - Check your template byte size, if you can. While I try to allow for some additional Moe-bun, I rarely check the templates that I post to find out exactly how much free space is available. http://www2u.biglobe.ne.jp/~yuichi/rest/strcount.html Is a reasonable link, the first feild should show a number right around 1900 or less. I know the official number is 2048 ... but there are things the btye checker doesnt count that 2ch does (the returns at the end of each line, primarily).

2 - Check your template length. If you used one of mine your fine, but make sure its 20 lines or less. If you do use one of my templates, it has to end on the last line of the template; that is you need to go to the last line of the linker on the 20th line and hit <delete> a few times to make sure there is no return there.

3 - Do not 'fix' the template. Sadly most of us do not have nice pretty browsers that the input box (or notepad) supports these fonts correctly.. it will look weird in the box. Leave it how it is (unless you know what your doing).

4 - Post something within 2ch at least a few minutes before the rush. I tend to do this 30 minutes in advance, in a seperate polling area in the board, but even a support post in the voting thread will work. This will get you over the annoying

5 - Use the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT)'s JST site. Don't trust your atomic clock, or the computer clock, or any other source... it will not be set to the same time of 2ch or most of Japan.

6 - Watching an .avi / .mkv? Turn it off. Running torrents or other network heavy applications? Turn it off. You don't want your post to compete with those applications (nor the JST time webapp for that matter).

7 - Getting close to time to go? Load all of your templates in tabs ready to go. It's just easier and less stressful that way.

8 - Within a few minutes of rush? Check "difference from local standard time" in JST window, then REFRESH. Did it change much? (more than a second?) ... if so refresh until you get the same difference.

9 - When you get to the rush time, click GO on your post RIGHT AS the :00s turn over. Counting helps me.
